I'm actually puzzled by how PS5 pre-orders sold out within seconds and minutes while Xbox pre-orders were available for longer. It will be interesting to look at first week sales for both consoles.

This survey on this forum shows higher anticipated sales and interest in the PS5...

I tried every site many times all day and couldn't get one. Still don't have one. Isn't there a better system for preorders than this?

Because PS4 outsole the Xbox One, a big percentage of PS5 fans likely want to carry over their game library and the odd accessory to the new console. However, if I remember correctly the PS4 controller is only compatible with PS4 games on the PS5.

A ballot system would have been better.

IGN just revealed that they have received a review unit of the Series X!!!!

This means that other influencers have too and that we are on the brink of the meaningful gameplay reviews!
:cool::cool:

I believe you are correct, though who would want to use the PS4 controller on the PS5? The PS5 controller looks exponentially better.
Those who like to save money by carrying over accessories from one generation to another. Xbox One controllers will be compatible with Series X/S.

I have an Xbox 360 and PS4 controller which I use interchangeably to play computer games.

I intend to get both PS5, and series X eventually. Never bought a Xbox one.

Decided to start with Series X, and was lucky enough to get one about 2 hours after the start of USA pre orders through Best Buy.

I actually got all the way to the check out on MS store, on the monthly plan, but it wouldn't let me complete the transaction. So my credit, got a hard pull for nothing.

Oh well.

Looking forward to gamepass, and I can't wait to play Forza, at 4k 60fps

I think the PS5 just generally has a stronger Fanbase because of its exclusive titles, and let’s be honest, they ‘knocked it out of the park’ with this new console with the hardware, design and the option of digital v.s. physical.

Try to contact MS support. I saw someone post something like this on reddit about the credit pull and the pre-order. They were told that when they get their xbox, they will still be able to do the monthly ultimate, but there wouldn't be another credit check since they already qualified.

But as I said, double check with MS support.

Really, I think the PS5 look hideous. Those white controllers are awful and I imagine will look dirty pretty easily. Gross!

Style is subjective, so there’s no uniform answer here based on what you like versus what I like.

As for the controllers being dirtied from constant touching, yes, that will probably be an issue, (as it was for the white Xbox controller years ago). But I’m fairly particular about how I handle things, and I generally will take a damp microfiber cloth and wipe down my controllers when I’m through, I pre-wash my hands, etc. I’m different, but I keep my ‘tech gear‘ looking new. It’s all how you manage it.

You should see how I clean my controllers after my nephews have been using them. Now that’s gross!

For this reason I will only buy a PS5 when a black and slimmer variant is inevitably launched.

The bulk, shape and colour scheme of the PS5 makes it hard for me to envision where in the lounge that I would put it. It's the equivalent of putting Hewlett Packard printer next to your TV and audio system.

LOL, so true!

Series X gamepla previews are out!

A few observations:

-It's extremly quiet.

-Load times are mindblowingly click and a huge generational leap for gaming. BIG win for consumers!

-Quick resume works as advertised and together with fast load times will be a massive incentive for buying digital games!

-I like that backwaards compatability goes as far back as the original Xbox. This will rejuvinate the market for used dics-based games for those who like older games or titles that have not been reimaged.

-Moving a 50GB game to an external SSD takes roughly 7min and moving it back to the internal SSD takes just under 3min. This is quicker than having to redownload games and great if you already haveanexternal SSD laying around. However I think the pricey expansion cards will sell well because they aren't that much more expensive than a decent 1TB SSD and is signifigantly quicker. Just plug-in and forget.

I am really stoked and look forward to gameplay of actual next gen games but also 120fps games.

Wonder where S series hands on reviews are, hopefully pre release.
Unfortunately MS is keeping the Series S close to their chest. We have no insight into how next gen games will differ on it compared with Series X.

However, today Dirt 5 playback revealed some examples of how gameplay differs depending on graphical/performance setting chosen.

Image quality: Full eye candy.

Frame rate(4k/60 target): Same textures, weather and lighting but reduced crowds and shadow detail of ambient objects.

120 FPS 1440p target: No crowds and further reduced shadow details.

For both the frame rate and 120fps modes, resolution dipped to 1080p at the starting line with 12 cars and lots going on.

If these are the compromises that the Series X have than I will be interested in seeing whether the Series S will see texture detail, draw distance or dynamic weather drop in order to achieve 120fps.

Think dirt 5 is very impressive / intreguing when you consider that it’s not yet the finished product and that it’s also a release title

makes you think just what is going to be coming in 12 to 18 months time

Today I came across this HDR 4K demo of COD MW On Series X and the visuals are stunning - the best they I have seen so far.

It's a shame that youtube compression sucks and makes game play videos for some games look previous gen.

I hope that we will soon see gameplay footage of 1st party titles that have from the ground up, been developed to max out the hardware and technical architecture of the Series X.

Wow, looks great. Terrible muzzle awareness though. Those team members were getting swiped constantly.

Full Series X reviews are out.

The conclusions are unanimous: Superb hardware but lacking exclusives or games that fully exploit the hardware.

This is a fair verdict. Unlike the PS5, the Series X is missing flagship titles with a wow factor. Until they are ava, gamepass with EA play is the real draw.

Over Chrismas there will be no shortage of games to play.

My Series X has been shipped!

I am excited hut wholeheartedly agree with most reviews.

The console badly need good first party games. MS will now be under pressure to deliver some.

Halo needs to blow minds or else the Series X will be a glorified miniature PC tower.

If you have GamePass, Microsoft is probably fine with the XSX being seen as a glorified mini pc tower.
