Yupp. As long as you are subscribing to gamepass, they are happy. If you have GamePass, Microsoft is probably fine with the XSX being seen as a glorified mini pc tower.

Good question. I think Microsoft will bring remote play and xcloud to browsers. Then you can play on any device without the limitation or politics of App stores. So what's the status of Xbox and Mac? Have that made any announcements related to macOS recently? Specifically, I'm surprised to see that there is still no remote play equivalent (though I know there is a third party app called onecast). Apple silicon should make it pretty easy to bring the xbox app to Mac though.
Have they announced any intention to bring xcloud to Mac? (I know they plan on iOS through safari eventually) It seems like they might eventually, but I'm also fairly skeptical and could easily see them ignoring the platform (much smaller user base in comparison to iOS).
I've always preferred playstation (especially after RROD on the 360), but I switched to PC via bootcamp / eGPU the last two years. Now Bootcamp frustrations and Apples obvious path to windows through virtualization only has made me want to return to console. Then add-in that Microsoft bought two of my preferred game studios (obsidian and Bethesda) and I'm torn truly over the next generation.
If you can afford the X and can contain your fomo for the S then wait for the X.I just secured an series S from target, but having second thoughts as to wait for an series X to become available.
Would you think the X is worth the extra $200?
I’m I have multiple Xbox one physical games, but wondering if Xbox honors digital copies if we are using the Series S.
Yes I already saved up for an X, but couldn’t secure one for launch day pickup.Delivery notification.
My Series X will arrive between 1500-1600!
At least my work meetings will be done by then.

Dual Sense is THE newest abd most exciting thing about next genI have to say, and I shouldn’t be surprised as knew pretty much all this before, but I am underwhelmed.
I copied all my games across to an external ssd from my old one x and copied them onto the series x. That’s very quick
But even then you obviously have to get the updates, so just under 30gb for gears tactics, around 50gb for Valhalla
I’m lucky that I have 350mb internet but even then it’s gonna take awhile
I’ll not be quick resuming anytime soon. I know no way around it, but would of been quite cool if you could of told the previous console, hey, I’m getting a series x, can I have the updates please. Maybe you could and I missed it
The controller as well. Not heard a bad thing about it but it feels very very light and not as premium as previous ones
I’m sure once all updated it will be fine, but even as a massive Microsoft fan and someone who has never got on with a PlayStation, I can’t help but feel, that for now, the ps5 is the more premium machine, especially with the controller updates. And as said this from someone who isn’t a PlayStation fan
That's what I've been stewing about. I think Microsoft has the best long term strategy currently, but I definitely prefer the PS. Hopefully Sony will rise to the challenge and the back and forth continues.I bought the Series X because I think that long term, it and Xbox will be thr best gaming platform.
MS spent billions buying Bathesda. They are in it to win it and are probably developing a dual sense like controller as we speak.
If you can sit on the fence for a few months then do so. You will still be able to play Cyberpunk and other newer titles on your current console. That's what I've been stewing about. Bethesda and Oblivion are some of my favorite studios, but the more I think about, I think I'll just pay for xcloud for a the few months I would play those titles, and still probably save some cash. Or maybe I'll just buy a Series S down the line on the cheap when the studios actually put some new compelling games out.
What is the likelihood of MS developing a dual sense controller? It’s the only thing that’s missing. Thoughts?Dual Sense is THE newest abd most exciting thing about next gen
For someone who is upgrading from a One X, the Series X could feel like a big spec bump rather than a new console.

I hope they update their controller. Lack of a dual sense type of feature is a real miss. This is why Dual Sense will be easy for MS to copy:
-It's an accessory, not hardware that requires changes to the Series consoles.
-Sony has already down the ground work by briefing 3rd party studios they have created dual sense schemas that MS could map their controller to once ready.
-Unlike Kinect, the feature doesn't require a rethink or redesign of games.
I am super impressed by how silent the Series X is when playing Gears 5 multiplayer at 120hz.
The chimney design of the console is a first but makes so much sense.
Heat rises, therefore point the vents upwards and give them a helping hand with a low RPM 5.8inch fan.
Almost all pieces of tech that I have ever seen, have small fans pointing towards the back.

Blimey games are big. Download speed is now hovering around 10-20mpbs. Azure servers are under massive load.
An external SSD or Expansion card will be essential for cold or hot storage to avoid having to redownload games.

Since buying the console and filling it up with games in greed, I have actually deleted several of them.I have the 8TB Seagate Game Hub HDD as my "cold" storage. I have a 1TB USB SSD as my "warm" storage for previous-gen games as they don't use the Velocity Engine so little benefit on using internal storage. I have the internal storage and the Seagate Expansion Card for my "hot" storage
DF made a case for MS to keep the display settings as is. DMC5 on the PS5 offers no way to cap the frame rate. Technically the same is true of the Series X but because you can change the settings on the console you can limit the game to 60hz instead of it trying to run at 120hz all the time.Yesterday I played Cold War Black Ops with ray tracing for the first time.
Wow! I know that the term has been thrown around around but the effect is stunning. It will be a match made in heaven with good HDR.
Ray tracing is best enjoyed in single player mode where you can take your time, pan around and enjoy the visual glory. The impact is greater in the game compared with compressed youtube videos.
RANT TIME!
Things that I dislike around the Series X
Quick Resume: It's awesome, you get used to it and expect it all the time. However it's not yet activated for all games and there is no labelling of games or apps that support it. MS, sort this out ASAP!
Bluray playback: The Bluray player could have been quieter or benefitted from better insulation. It's amusing how dead silent the console is when playing Gears 5 or COD, but is noticeably audible with a disc spinning.
120fps vs 60fps/ray tracing: In Coldwar black ops you can toggle between the two in game settings.
However to enable Ray tracing your need to disable 120fps in the Xbox settings and restart the game for the game to take effect. The same is true of you want to switch from 60fps/RT back to 120fps.
Going forward I would like games to be able to change console settings.
