Do you think it's acceptable for Apple to brick your 1000 dollar iPhone or 800 dollar iPad with buggy software updates?

I don't know, did any of them brick? Perhaps you need to understand what that word means. And that still doesn't change the fact the Android update model is complete and utter garbage.

BTW, what about this?

Oh right, it's about Android so it never really makes the news.

I'm sure the owners stood in Apple stores after iOS updates broke their devices, would be delighted with your questioning of their ability to understand English.....

Such an apology for a pathetic showing by Apple, they are incapable of getting the one thing they make all on their own right, but you keep slating Android :rolleyes:

You never know, one day the iOS team might learn how to make a working alarm clock!

You must be in the market for cars with square shaped driving wheels and probably the steering as well. Change for the sake of change, there you have it, square driving wheels for a car. If they don't exist, it's a market opportunity to start a wheel business, with you as the customer. :)

How different can one make a slab shaped phone, are there any designs that are vastly different than what's available in the market? I didn't think so.

From the history of Android phones, extra battery size does not translate to better life compared comparable iPhones. Android, outsourced SOC or H/W is a poor recipe for good battery life. That's why iPhones in general have better battery life than comparable Android phones with far bigger battery size. Android business model does not lend itself to hardware and software optimization.
What a pointless criticism of my post. Apple has dragged its feet in recent years. The competition has caught up. Build iphone from ceramic glass. Remove the home button and integrate it into the display. Get rid of the antenna bands and protruding camera. There's lots to fix in iphone.
[doublepost=1474998165][/doublepost]
Competition always has been cheap and "good" since 2007.

Your post is totally unrelated to the topic.
[doublepost=1474988892][/doublepost]

Are you really saying that some Android phones have better Apps?

That some Android phones have access to a Play Store without malware and the rest has malware?

This is insane!
Apple has dragged its feet for the past five years. Entirely related to this post. Integrate the home button into the screen.

Maybe one day you'll come up with something original instead of recycling the same tired old memes over and over. Here's a couple you forgot to use:

- Steve wouldn't have allowed this.
- You're holding it wrong.
- Bendgate.

And my original comment still stands. Android is a complete joke for updates, including security updates. Which is why Android will never be nearly as secure as iOS. But you go ahead and avoid that topic and keep deflecting.

It does sound interesting. Phone is 8mm vs 7.3mm for the iP7+. An extra ±900 mAh of battery capacity will make it thicker. Personally, I'd take an extra 0.7mm of thickness and ±900mAh every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

I bet the actual hours you will get from that phone is shorter than what you can get from iP7+, even though it has +900mAh battery at the hardware level.

I'll just repost my earlier comment:
My quote is about the thinness vs extra battery capacity, not about Android vs iPhone. There's no question that regardless of the ecosystem, I would take an extra 900 mAh of capacity over 0.7mm of thickness. That difference in thickness is barely noticeable, but the extra capacity would be very noticeable.

This five years where they won and maintained the title of the biggest company in the world?

Bring on the lawsuit. This one I actually think is rightful

Please explain why there would be a law suit? For what cause? Xaomi has produced several phones similar. Wouldn't Samsung be subject to the same claim then?

Based on how upset you're getting at someone stating the truth it appears you're the one devoted to a brand. In your case, Android.

You're right that things happen on iOS and Android. At least I get updates to fix things. The vast majority of Android users don't. Which is why their security model is a complete joke.
Regarding security updates that is not true. Almost all if not all big android manufacturers do monthly security updates since last year summer. I am referring to Samsung, htc, lg, heck even axxon I heard doing it too.

People get quite defensive when they think their is a slight chance you may be bashing their iPhone. Lol

Forum life:rolleyes: Specs and price matter only when it supports my argument or I can use them to discount yours.:D That's how it works in any forum. Most people buy what they want, not necessarily what they need. We can all find something for less that can adequately suit our needs. Doesn't mean we want it. Desire tends to drive purchases.

Anecdotal at best. Their are those who purchase products that acquire expendable income, which in some cases, purchasing can be need and want. I tend to be materialistic at times, but in the same token, I do need various products for my line of work, which comes with an expense account. And yes, if I see it and I want it, knowingly I need it for different aspects, then it's mine. For some, desire can only take you so far with the limitation of available funds.

And I am Tech connoisseur that enjoys lots of tech....lots and lots of tech.

Uh, okay. Gotta be honest bud, your high concepts are beyond my capacity for understanding. I've gone down a rabbit hole with you once before. Once was enough. Enjoy the rest of your day.

What a criticism of my pointless post.
Fixed it for you.

The competition has caught up. Build iphone from ceramic glass. Remove the home button and integrate it into the display. Get rid of the antenna bands and protruding camera. There's lots to fix in iphone.
Glass in one sense is ceramic, go look it up. You should start your sweeping statement with explanations as to why such a thing or feature is necessary. Let's start with this, explain why Apple should make the iPhone out of ceramic glass.

Care to do an apples to apples comparison, such as - Does Mi integrated home button have the same functional architecture as the iPhone - Sensing, storage and retrieval of the fingerprint. I don't even know if Android requires manufacturers to have a specific hardware like the iPhone's secure enclave for fingerprint security. The question I would ask is, if the Mi's implementation just a secure as an iPhone implementation.

Antenna bands - Describe the physics as how that would be implemented - as in, do the implementations of removal of antenna bands then need separate antennas to augment reduced or lost capability of body integrated antenna. If that's the case then is the trade worth performing. That would be an educated request.

I can go on, instead let's state these change requests as educated/well informed requests and not change for the sake of change.

If Apple doesn't add features that you want, are you going to start your phone company that makes phone with all the important features that you want? I am sure such a phone will outsell the iPhone. Wait that's been attempted before, Android OEMs have tried that and have not succeeded. Your turn.

My quote is about the thinness vs extra battery capacity, not about Android vs iPhone. That's the trade off that Apple already made for all users, for your perceived use case 0.7mm is an acceptable compromise for you, but that might not be the same for all users. Another user might find it acceptable to have 7mm thicker iPhone for the extra battery capacity, what should Apple do, probably make it twice as thick as it is now. Apple definitely wont do that. You do have options of buying other phones that might have what you seek.

I wasn't trying to act superior to you or make you feel inferior to anything. It was simply a reply on your concept of how others make purchases for the purpose of discussion.

But thanks for admitting it was behind your understanding for discussion and not replying with some edgey/and or cunning response.

Haha you mean the FACT they held an entire press conference JUST so Steve Jobs could blame their poor phone reception on it's users.. I'm not surprised that one keeps getting mentioned. Let alone all those faulty 6 Plus screens due to them bending.
But you live in your little world and spur the same old lies about Android. Last time I checked Android does updates for security every month. Apple wait for major releases so leave gaping holes for ages. You just continue to believe the hyperbole.

Look who's lying. Only Samsung and Nexus get updates every month (and nobody really knows how long a Samsung device will get updates, as they never really confirmed that for us). And Samsung devices sure as hell don't get the latest version of Android only 30 days after release. Motorola (Lenovo) already dropped out of the 30 day update plan using the lame excuse "we only think it's important to issue an update when there's enough worthwhile changes". The rest of the world gets updates if, and only if, their manufacturer and/or carrier decide it's worth their time/money to bother fixing devices over 1 year.

Android is a joke of an OS and Google lost control of it long ago.

Why a lawsuit? It's not like Xiaomi came up with this in less than 3 weeks. This is obviously something they've been working on for a while as well. Plus it's not like Apple was the first company to use a dual camera setup.

Are you for real? So because you have money your hands are NEVER ever dirty? There's no need for condescension here....
The internet needs to get it's sense of humour back.

A guy I went to high school with could never keep a job after he graduated. Always had some excuse like he wasn't getting paid enough, the boss was a jerk, the co-workers weren't doing their share of work, someone else was taking credit for his work and on and on. Every 6 months a new job, year after year. I finally got sick of hearing him complain about it so I told him straight up: "Do you think every single company you work for has a problem? Maybe you need to look at yourself since that's the only thing in common between all these businesses."

You've used this "down the rabbit hole" line on several posters here, including myself. At some point you have to question whether everyone else has a problem, or the one thing they all have in common (you) has the problem.

Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi has responded to Apple's iPhone 7 with the launch of a pair of new high-end smartphones.

The two handsets succeeding the company's flagship Mi 5 phone are called the Mi 5s (5.15-inches) and the Mi 5s Plus (5.7-inches), the latter featuring dual cameras as per Apple's own 5.5-inch Plus device. The 12-megapixel cameras come with an f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, phase detection auto-focus, automatic HDR, and video recording of up to 4K resolution at 30fps.

xiaomi-mi-5s-plus-800x450.jpg

Both phones have a 1080p display and a fingerprint scanner under the front glass, which Xiaomi says "recognizes a 3D map of each user's fingerprint through ultrasonic waves", so no physical button is needed. The use of ultrasonic is also said to tolerate dirty fingers better than the capacitive sensors found in Apple's devices.

Both dual-SIM handsets are also powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, but the Pro is clocked higher and has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, whereas the Mi 5s features 3GB RAM and 64GB storage as standard, with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage as optional add-ons. Similarly, a higher spec Mi 5s Pro is available with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The phones will be available in China from September 29, with the Mi 5s priced from 1999 RMB ($299) and the larger Mi 5s Plus costing upwards of 2299 RMB ($345). There's no word yet on when the phones will become available in other regions.

We know that android still runs like crap with 6gb of ram. I imagine no one will say anything about those ugly bezels and there's no home button taking up space.

Off subject but do you tune using a mac or pc? I want to learn to tune but every tuner I have been to uses windows and I'm not going back to that mess. I use a Cobb access port if that makes a difference to which OS I need to use.

Yet more lies... more hyperbole... perhaps you should just stop, stop making gerneralising spam comments only to then admit they don't pertain to the biggest contributors to Android sales. Lies and lies...

Yeah? You think they bought the iPhone 7 and reverse engineered the technology in less than 3 weeks?

Tell us more....

You're right. Everyone was shocked when they announced the iPhone 7. It would seem probable that this company takes leaked Apple schematics and uses them as their own, not sure that's illegal but it definitely warrants an ass kicking. But how could they have possibly known....

That's not true; 9.3.5 came within literal days of 9.3.4. There is not "waiting" and no gaping holes for ages. So where is the hyperbole?

Android OEMs started doing monthly security updates now. Not just nexus phone, major Android makers do that, like Samsung, HTC and LG.

Android also updates core apps and Google Play services by means play store update.

Apple updates everything through OS updates. Once certain model no longer gets software updates, it no longer receive any updates. Where Android, you can at least gets updates to core apps, say Chrome.

My Nexus 5X and 6P, also my Xiaomi mi5 bugs differ. There are virtually no lags.

Does an OS that gives you options without having to need a jailbreak really turn you off that much or is this just another form of baseless criticism if only to prop up Apple?

To be fair if you want a lot of features in android you had to root your device and install modded software.

I used android for a year, my opinion isn't baseless and I don't love everything about iOS either.
