I genuinely thought the phone in the photo was an iPhone until I read. Well, this is supposedly one of the reasons we're in a trade war with China now.
Honest question. Do you not know of Xiaomi's history? I ask because it seems like you think this episode of copying is somehow extraordinary or different than all their past copies. It isn't. All of their copies have been pretty much spot on in terms of design. They don't try to hide it. They've never tried to hide it. This may be new to you, but it's nothing new. They may not be worried, but they should be. This one is pretty much spot on in terms of design.
Been in the game longer than most, trust me I know Xaomi lolHonest question. Do you not know of Xiaomi's history? Samsung won't, but the Pixel 3 will definitely have a notch.please tell us details when you come back. Some of those guys in those forums were cursing apple out for the notch and how is a stupid idea. Not so stupid now when everyone is doing it. Samsung is next
Well, when you aren’t paying for designers to create unique hardware, costs are minimal.Snapdragon 845, OLED screen, true face-ID and an under display fingerprintscanner for half the price of an iPhone X. Insane value of money.
Part of the Apple brand and image is iOS. I was just in both China Japan and yes, I think everyone is ultimately the same when it comes to brands. Not saying that it's not an absolute ripped off joke. What generally isn't that comes from China after the fact?
However, I disagree that mainland Chinese people want specifically iOS that much. You are undervaluing the Apple brand and image.
I will say this again that people here in the US generally don't understand the cultural differences.
Do you think mainland Chinese think like you?
That just makes it all the more curious that you think litigation stands a chance this late in the game. Apple has probably applied the calculus that trying to sue Chinese imitators is a waste of time, money, and other resources since Xiaomi isn't the only Chinese OEM that copies designs. Selling in the US? They'd get sued. Selling in their home market? Yawn.Been in the game longer than most, trust me I know Xaomi lol
That's a little bit ironic knowing that Apple's whole manufacturing is based in the country where there is no regards to pollution and human rights.. oh wait! Apple also bends over backward to appease that country's government so that Apple can continue to manufacture the hardware there and find a possible way to retain or gain market share!Apple should do the same... Oh yeah I forgot! Copying a regime without human rights and no regards to pollution might not be cool-nevermind.
Exactly, I don't see what Apple would have to gain by suing Xiaomi over this. More bad press than any good that would come of it.That just makes it all the more curious that you think litigation stands a chance this late in the game. Don't want to drag this into PRSI, but perhaps you should take a good look at what's actually going on in China? The rising middle class is stirring....That's a little bit ironic knowing that Apple's whole manufacturing is based in the country where there is no regards to pollution and human rights.. oh wait! They havent' done the iPhone X, but they've done a superb job of "close enough" for anyone that would actually consider an Android phone I'd imagine.Wow some people on here really got rattled lol
But the truth is Xiaomi has been a player in Asia a long time and for a reason. I once got a 150$ Xiaomi that went blow for blow with that year's 900$ iPhone.
And now they've done iPhone X at half price....
When you don't have to spend a dollar on r&d you can afford these things....
Well, when you aren’t paying for designers to create unique hardware, costs are minimal.
I don't get it. Why can't they come up with any sort of original design?
Snapdragon 845, OLED screen, true face-ID and an under display fingerprintscanner for half the price of an iPhone X. Insane value of money.

I completely agree. When we go appliance shopping, how many of us are thinking about GE or Whirlpool ? Those companies are almost on death bed. I just replaced my GE appliances with Samsung. I was worried that all the marketing blurbs and hypes! But man! Am I impressed or what? A dishwasher that is virtually silent. I don't even know it's running even I am 5 from away from it. A fridge that keeps the same temperature all across.. a cooking range.. so perfect!! I am worried that American brands are falling behind .. way way behind!Chinese culture has quite a different view on copying than western culture. So, while this is clearly a rip-off (the bottom bezel is clearly larger than Apples though), they feel no shame.
With that said, Xiaomi is not a company without skills.
Just imported their Roborock s50 robot vacuum cleaner — and boy, is it a marvel of engineering (Radar, Infared, SLAM etc all working together in perfect unison) at a very, very agressive price. It costs 50% or less than the nearest competitor - and interestingly, it is found to be better than every single competitor in almost all reviews.
It has seriously made me fear the asian 'invasion'. China and Korea have really stepped up their game with many awesome products from brands like Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Anker, Huawei and even Volvo to some extent.
This is also the first Android smartphone to use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 845 chipset, which features on-device AI processing and a Gigabit LTE X20 modem.
It uses Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 processor
American brands are too busy being picked apart by vulture capitalists to do any innovation. They're being dismantled for executive pay.I completely agree. LOL at the claim that Apple R&D or design adds $400+ to the iPhone cost.
Or, for that matter, than no R&D is needed for others to copy its features.
Xiaomi has more than one phone, you know. It has its own designs, but they're smart enough to also sell what people want, and that includes the latest fashion from Apple and Samsung.
Apple likewise will follow a trend if it means more sales. We saw this with them finally embracing phablets, after spending a couple of years losing sales to others while claiming that 4" was the perfect size. Also when they made the iPad mini, after testing a Samsung mini tablet and finding that Jobs was wrong about needing sandpapered fingers.
Heck, Xiaomi was one of the first with a near bezel-less phone... the Mix back in 2016.
No you should wake up. You seems to be a biased person who can't look further than the design. Why would you even think to praise this blatant rip off? If you were an author and somebody fed your book through a copier and sold it, you would compliment the scam artist? Same thing is going on here.
Wake up.
The design being ripped off is enough to not look any further. It's a joke how much was copied, down to the marketing material. No you should wake up. You seems to be a biased person who can't look further than the design.
