Different is easy. Better is not.

Plenty of Sammy's phones have been different but not better.

Simply changing something takes nothing. Actually improving on greats things is far more challenging.

very well put.

Also, iPhones don't just get features then get sacked in the next revision, they stay for good. So its lot better to have it well tested and fitted. And also, Mi Max looks good, no denying in there. Just 2 issues, name is horrible! and its 6.4, way way big to be called a phone.

This is what the iPhone 7 should have looked like instead of pretty much an iPhone 6

Complete and total vaporware.

We made this concept product because according to the internet, this is what amateur hacks think comes next in phones.
Since there's a Youtube video showing the phone in action (linked in this very thread), clearly this is no vaporware.

This phone is really stunning. Not sure if practical, but certainly very eye-catching. Looking at their newly released Note 2 and the upcoming Mate 9, I think the Chinese smartphone manufacturers are going to take the world by storm. I'm quite excited to see next year's developments.

YouTube videos are not successful products. The only thing this company does a good job of is striking the right chord with the blog hounds, who positively do not know any better. People that don't know the difference between a YouTube video, and the real world.

Been wanting an edge-to-edge screen for some time. I bet Apple's will have 0 bezel, even at the bottom since they have the patent for the fingerprint sensor being anywhere under the display. Only things I worry about are accidental palm touches, as well as accidental drops.

I just don't understand the desire to eliminate bezels on phones. I get that it looks cool, having a full active screen, but what does it do to benefit user experience? You have to hold the phone, so there is no getting around having fingers and possibly a part of your palm touching the screen. The only thing that really makes sense for a full screen would be a movie or game, but again, if your fingers are covering up part of the screen while you hold the phone, so how is that a good thing?

Until phones can self levitate in front of you, having a full active screen just does not make a lot of sense.

Must have taken Stark all of 5 minutes.

And 91% and borderless!? So it's not borderless then.

Hello. I stopped caring about a phone’s functionality 3 years ago and now only care about what it looks like. Not to mention the huge productivity advancements you’ll get out of edge to edge glass. I often find myself mashing the side edges of my iPhone and wondering why it’s not doing anything. What a waste of 5 millimeters of space. I could be getting things done. But again, I only really care that it looks different.

Conversely I only tolerate watches that are round. I can’t get any use out of a box shaped watch. I find it confusing to look at as do passersby. It’s an embarrassment and depresses me.

Just because it doesn't say Apple or Samsung people assume it's crap. Get off your high horses and look at the device as a whole. This a great step in the direction to push other companies toward innovating, not sure why people dawg these guys. Love their products, though I admit I don't have one of their phones.. I do have a ton of their other misc items. I'll pick this device up for sure! Will be fun to tinker around with, the price is definitely cheap enough.

Have you heard of stands?

Not vaporware. Releases on 11/11. Not successful does not mean vaporware. It'll be interesting to see how well this sells. I'm excited to play with one in person.

Gorgeous. Once again Apple get punk'd.

To be fair, Xiaomi doesn't make products at the quality level of an iPhone, so some of the technology probably isn't quite ready for mass production. But still, I can't help but wonder if Jobs were still alive whether the iPhone 7 would have been a slab of glass like the next one is rumored to be.

6.4"? Psssh. Get that tiny nonsense out of here. I won't be happy with anything less than phone functionality in an iPad mini.

I have concerns about the edgeless concept-- after using iPhones since 2007 I was issued a Galaxy S7 from my employer (for business use) and have had repeated "palm contact" issues where simple handling causes the phone to think I am tapping things on the edges of the display. I presume that will get worse when edgeless. Yes, software can detect things like that, but no way close to all accidental contact on the periphery of the device.

This is something I've also been dreading ever since I read about these "edge display" and edgeless. I prefer a phone that doesn't misinterpret everything I try to do all the time - I've already got Siri for that.

Apple finally has something to make reference to. Can't wait for their new magical version.

A lot of ignorance in this thread.

You should applaud Xiaomi for doing something innovative and actually bringing it to market in a big way.

The Sharp phone was an interesting aside but rushed to market. This could herald a bold new category - and one that Apple is no doubt looking to jump into.

Xiamoi sold 70 million smartphones last year and has a market capitalization of $46 Billion, so it appears they do more than just "striking the right chord with the blog hounds".

Then you just don't know what "vaporware" is.

software or hardware that has been advertised but is not yet available to buy, either because it is only a concept or because it is still being written or designed
Being successful or not has nothing to do with it being vaporware. Since there's a video showing the actual working phone, it does exist and by the sounds of it, it will hit the market in a couple of weeks. So it's about as "vaporware" as the iPhone 7 was at launch.

I don't understand the need some people have on this forum to bash non-Apple products for the most surreal, made-up, silly reasons. It's almost like you're insecure or something, that you pay ~$1000 for a smartphone that's hardly worth buying for half that money.

Sorry, but I've got to correct you here.

The Mi 5 didn't bend. It snapped. :p

And the point was that Mi5 isn't idiot proof? I'm pretty sure I could break any phone I've found if I tried hard enough. It's just common sense not to even try. And my daily phone is iPhone 6plus, the #bendgate edition. It sits in my front jeans pocket on a daily basis and it has yet to bend. I'm sure I'd manage if I really wanted to but why would I?

And Xiaomi has the 2007 iPhone for a reference to developing their own OS and designing their own processor. Only 9 years behind! I'm sure their incredible desire to innovate will make this possible at some time in the distant future.
