How much experience do you have hands on with the note 9?
[doublepost=1538132718][/doublepost]

A fair bit.

From a hardware perspective there is no relevance to your question.

It is only relavant from a user experience perspective. But that would negate the ops intention since he brought up battery, which is hardware ,and his false assertion that the “note absolutely absolutely destroys [iphone Xs max] in every way”

It does not:
Not in hardware
Not in performance
Not in ecosystem
And definitely not in sales,

What's everyone thoughts? I know this will probably end in a war but can anyone here really say the XS Max is better than the note? I've owned both since launch day and can honestly say the only thing about the iPhone that's better is the battery life. Other than that Note absolutely destroys it in every way.

Am I the only one that thinks this?

No op your not the only that thinks it, but at one point in time everyone thought the world to be flat as well.

A little eduction goes a long way.

I wouldn’t use a Note because it’s Android, and I think Android is a poor substitute for iOS. I also dislike Google’s business practices so I choose not to use any of their products.

The Note 9 would be brilliant with a better OS on it. Samsung just need to get creating that OS!

But that is an android to iOS comparison and depending entirely on the user their needs and their place in each respective ecosystem.

But the title of this thread is note 9 vs iPhone Xs max and my post is centered around hardware.

And from a hardware perspective it pretty cut and dry.

LOL what's the point of having the best hardware if the competition can do much more than you? You can't even readily attach a pdf to a freaking email without multiple steps. You can't even do something simple as scrolling screen shots. You can't even add a numbers row to a keyboard on a 6+ inch screen lol.

OH did I mention how handicapped siri still is compared to other assistants? How's that power chip helping you there?

All Apple had to do was enable PiP and fid a way to allow the pencil to work and they would pinch a good number of Note 9 users. Apple makes funny decisions sometimes. The XS Max is easily powerful enough to do PiP well and the screen is definitely large enough.

I'm on no one's side, only my own, but I want to help everyone equal so I would just like to point out the probability of this comment being used against you. I've noticed for several days the lack of punctuation, proper grammar, and using the wrong form of 'your' and some spelling errors ('relevant' was also wrong in your above post). No qualms with you personally about it, just saying that if you're going to argue with forum kiddies, but be careful how you attack them as they stoop to whatever they can to come back at you with.

It’s not necessarily about doing more, but doing what you need/want to do well.

You can use a third party keyboard.

IPhone does certain things smoother but in no way better. I remember the headache I had to go through when I wanted to just look at a pdf from an email and then send that exact pdf to another person. There is nothing well in that experience. Heck even the gestures on the note is more robust and intuitive than the iPhone.

Apple used their power chip to make the icons bigger on the Xmas.

It’s not that difficult to do that. It’s only two steps. Open the PDF in the email and view it. The second step is to simply click on the share icon and then you can send it on in a variety of different ways like email, iMessage, what’s app, google drive.

You can use a third party keyboard.

OK show me a third party keyboard with a numbers row?
BTW apple is suppose to "just work". Now we have to go searching the app store for something as simple as a numbers row? I'll wait patiently for your keyboard recommendation like the one in the screen shot.

UI design and control are far better on iOS than Android (most Android phones still sport the massively outdated back button).

Backup and sync to your desktop/laptop much better with Apple thanks to iTunes.

Chrome still does not have an ad-blocker.

Android phones ‘finally’ now support reversible connectors but years after Apple.

Google lacking a viable smartwatch, tablet and desktop OS, all of which Apple have had for years.

Apple are just so far ahead of the competition it’s unreal.

I don’t even think this is a quality one but this was the first one in the list of requested keyboards with numbers.

LOL what's the point of having the best hardware if the competition can do much more than you?

What’s the point in charging 1k for a device if it’s inferior to the competition?

Well that depends on what you do?

But that isn’t about hardware is it?
Which is basically the point of this thread.

Your not very good moving the goal posts, are you?

But bless you for trying.

You can't even readily attach a pdf to a freaking email without multiple steps.

When was the last time you used iOS?
iPhone 4?

There multiple ways to do that on iOS.
Copy paste, from the share sheet, or even just inserting it directly in the email with a long press.

You can't You can't even do something simple as scrolling screen shots. You can't even add a numbers row to a keyboard on a 6+ inch screen lol.

That’s simply adorable, didn’t think anybody would pay 1k to do those things, aren’t they also available on 200 dollar android devices?

Probably why note 9 sales are so terrible.

“Note destroys iPhone Max in every way*”
*except battery (in tests note 9 was comparable to the iPhone Xs not even the max, that’s just embarrassing right there).

Boomer 11’s Translation: it can do scrolling screenshots and have a number over the keyboard.

I just can’t stop laughing.

I have never tried to do a scrolling screenshot but there are apps for that on iOS.

OH did I mention how handicapped siri still is compared to other assistants? How's that power chip helping you there?

Do you mean Bixby?

Siri is great for what I use it for command. Siri is a speed demon on the iPhone Xs max and iOS 12, and Siri shortcuts is a useful feature.

I just asked Siri to find my iphone on my s4 Apple Watch and my iPhone started ringing. That’s is an extremely useful feature to me.

Don’t think Bixby can do that can google assistant?

It’s not being rhetorical I’m actually curious.

I would ask you enjoy your note 9, but instead here you are trying desperately to validate your purchase among iPhone users.

Trying an failing.
Godspeed.

I agree with you that the Note 9 is an amazing device... its the software that it runs which I can't deal with. It's an absolute jumbled ugly mess, I've tried several times and I just can't stomach it. I know some find iOS boring, but the clean fluid neatness is my preference. Again I do agree that the Note 9 is a better device than the iPhone but when you pair the iPhone with iOS I will take that any day.

I agree 100%.
The features packed into a Note 9 would make Steve Jobs tumble.
Here I am with a $4.00 a month XsMAX on Sprint I can’t complain and at $4.00 a month in 18 months I pay $250 and its mine to keep. I did have to give Sprint my old S8+.
I begged Sprint for a Note 9 @$18 a Month. But they could not budge.
I was Watching a YouTube Video and Texting at the same time on the Note 9 and when the YouTube video got to a certain part. I pulled out the SPen, drew a box around the scene. And pulled that screen Capture into a Text Messgae in real time. That level of advancement is only offered on the iPad Pro.

Weren’t you the poster last year that went around claiming iPhone X sales were terrible.

Yeah that didn’t work as you had hoped.

Is what your saying:
Get a note 9 so you can watch a you tube video while you message or compose an email.

Not interested.

What happened to hardware again?

They both are great phones! Both have very good points and some not so good points.....BOTH of them.
It comes down to user preference.....

If you prefer IOS and iphones...the Xs Max is a great phone! Use it and be happy with your choice

If you prefer Android and Samsung........the Note 9 is a great phone! Use it and be happy with your choice.

I’ve no interest in installing a third party keyboard but swiftkey is available and on android you can have a number row on swiftkey.

Swiftkey was not installed on any of the Samsung phones I’ve had. I had to go to the play store and download it.

lol siri shortcuts? thats just a dumbed down version of bixby routines that has been on bixby for years. you can say "i'm home" and have your phone automatically turn off data, connect to the wifi, turn on your lights, shut off work email retreives, and turn off bluetooth with one phrase. i'm glad siri finally semi caught up lol

by better battery you must mean the tom's guide battery chart showing it losing to basically every android phone? or does that one not count b/c iphone didnt win?

i mean if i'm paying for a 1500 dollar phone i'd hope it could do more than the competition

There’s nothing wrong with android. I prefer iOS but android is fine and works well.
