I wouldn't be putting down Shortcuts yet. It's got potential to be a very powerful App, once more 3rd party companies jump on board.

no doubt but the competition has been doing this for years. heck i can get my phone to automatically open spotify, turn off wifi, open a certain playlists and start playing the moment i enter my car without touching it or saying a word. a powerful chip doesn't mean much if apple doesn't take advantage of it with features.

G-Board for IOS has press & hold the top row for numbers fyi.

lol if i had to long press every single # i'd rather just do it apple's way and have to click back and forth....

trust me. i tried every single keyboard worth anything on there and they cant do it. i even had to google a keyboard with #'s row on iphone and search didn't come up with much.

but instead of a #'s row, they put a row for animojis and gifs b/c apparently the phone is created for 15 yr old teenagers and not professionals who can actually afford to by the phones.

Just trying to help. Wasn't sure if it had been suggested to you already.

A fair bit.

From a hardware perspective there is no relevance to your question.

It is only relavant from a user experience perspective. But that would negate the ops intention since he brought up battery, which is hardware ,and his false assertion that the “note absolutely absolutely destroys [iphone Xs max] in every way”

It does not:
Not in hardware
Not in performance
Not in ecosystem
And definitely not in sales,

No op your not the only that thinks it, but at one point in time everyone thought the world to be flat as well.

A little eduction goes a long way.

what were you saying about hardware again? if i paid 1500 i expect it to wipe the floor with the competition, not just keep up or even losing.....

Apparently you missed them then, see attached. This is the second keyboard now that I've demonstrated to you that has a number row functionality

I personally dislike Samsung a ton. Atrocious customer support, redundant bloatware, inconsistent software updates, insufficient stand by time w/ batteries, and the curved display makes it tougher to find affordable tempered glass screens.

Sure, I might lose out on a bevy of cool features with iOS. But that's a choice/sacrifice I make to get stability. As MKBHD shared, he considers the XS/XS Max the smoothest phones on the market. iOS 12 is really smooth. For a 3 year investment, the XS Max is worth it to me.

I've tried that keyboard. What's the point of adding functionality if you take some away. You better be really accurate typing with that keyboard because it won't predict the text (at least when I used it)

The hardware on the note 9 is supperior to the max. I can readily admit that as someone who owns the max. I have the max because I’m invested in the Apple ecosystem and didn’t really see the benefit of swapping out all my devices. I also prefer iOS but I like android too.

Well maybe the build quality is better on the max. Stainless steel and glass is nice but aluminium and glass is perfectly fine.

Well to be fair, you asked us to show you a keyboard with a numbers row. Now you're just being a choosing beggar about things. If you want parity then there are some paid versions for you to try that do include all the functions you want. I really don't know what you're expecting here besides trying to prove to us your already long validated reasons why you prefer Android and how those opinions are somehow what make the iPhone and iOS a bad choice for us.

Side note, I don't use predictive text so that feature was under my radar when trying to provide you assistance.

If you’re a power user, your only option is android. I’m not a power user anymore, so iOS suits me just fine.

I don’t think it’s Samsung’s fault about having inconsistent battery life. Outside of pixel phones running stock there are just too many variables that take a toll on the battery life on any given day. Software updates being slow are just due to the nature of android. Unless you’re running stock android you’re not going to get quick software updates. It’s just not logistically possible.

Samsung make really good hardware and it just comes down to the users whether things like software updates are going to be an issue.

My souped up Toyota is better than a Ferrari because it more features.
Always buy the Asian copy of something if you want the real deal.

yeah you are correct in me asking for a #'s row but adding a #'s row and taking away BASIC functionality is pretty dumb. the fact that you are saying there are paid version of keyboards that have all the functions says it all. on a 1500 phone...

its just my preference of course. i'm sure many people don't have a problem with apple's keyboard but for my job, the lack of a basic #'s row made it a pain real quick. but than again it just comes down to preference and what you need on a phone.

Same here why is that ?
I’ll be fair when I say the XsMAX is a great device it does everything well. Emails and Texting are better on iOS.
But notifications being in a separate hidden page and no notification bar across the top. No activity LED. I can go one and on.
Fortunately I may personally trade my coworker for her Note 9 and call it a day. We both have Sprint. But I think Sprint contract rules state you must have the phone on your account for the contract period.

For the sake of your sanity, and for all of us who have to read about it, I hope your coworker makes this trade happen. Your post history shows that you either have the worst luck imaginable with iPhones, that you’ll never be happy with an iPhone, or you simply are meant to use android as an OS and android phones. Maybe a mixture of all three. And that is fine. And fortunately, there are forums dedicated to the very phones and platform you so clearly prefer. Please, take advantage.

This thread is full of so much misinformation ...

Google doesn't sell your data.. Why does everyone make the assumption that they do? Why would Google sell their most prized possession?

Google sells access TO you. It's really that simple. They sell ADS, not your data. They sell the ability to put an AD in front of the perfect demographic of person - that's it.

GOOGLE DOES NOT SELL YOUR DATA.

Careful, these types of tests are not necessarily indicative of real life. A test showing the opposite can just as easily be found. Here, the Max easily outlasts the Note.

i mean i'd rather trust a publication rather than a test where both iphones are on wifi while the note has cellular signal....

Samsung could only be more efficient with its Android skin. OnePlus shows how a light skin could even outperform stock Android. If the skin is more efficient, I think standby time would improve. Android is more intuitive to control battery life with power saving modes being a bit more comprehensive than iOS. Samsung has the power to reduce carrier software update influence though.

I think if Samsung did that then their phones would no longer be Samsung phones. All of their features are because of the Samsung experience. If they used a close to stock skin they wouldn’t be able to include many of the features they do on their phones.

That’s the nature of android. It’s not about everyone being like stock android. It’s open and there is choice for the consumer.

And you are entitled to. As for me, I base everything on my real world usage. I’ve seen benchmarks that show the Max blows the Note 9 out of the water. Not even close. But side by side in hand? I don’t see much difference at all.

150 nits??
I don’t live in a basement without any lights. Honestly I don’t know anyone that uses their phone that way maybe you do and no judgment there but I don’t.

For everyone else here are some other results.

Your confusing hardware with performance, it’s not the same. Sort of like the time you confused ppi and resolution.

But I’m not surprised.

I agree.....there are features in the Samsung skin you can't find in stock Android. Those features add to the overall user experience imho.
Then to be honest....stock Android is pretty bland and featureless. That is why Android phone makers have to add their own skins on top of stock Android.
