Mine is yellow. Not sure if it's worth trying to get a non yellow one. One on the left is my daughters 6.

I have yet to see any demos in Apple stores, Best Buy or carrier locations that are any different than the ip7 I have. They are all more yellowish and less bright than the 6s/Plus on display. I repeat, each and every one.

So I don't know what it buys me to play the exchange game at this point. Someone will have to show me in person where that is not the case with theirs.

No issues with my Jet Black 7.

Picture please.

Just received my iPhone 7 plus 128gb matte black and think the display is rubbish compared to my 6s plus. No way is it 25% brighter and seems horribly yellow

It does not hurt to buy one cause you can return/exchange but I think at this point from what I am seeing from display models at various places that this is not the time to do so. Yep, it is that bad in my area. I have not seen a good one on display yet.

Yep, you got one. Swap it out. If that doesn't work wait a few weeks and then buy from the next batch. Wishing you better luck!

In the next few weeks the display models you've seen will slowly and silently be swapped for better units like magic.

Apologies I can't get the pictures to do justice on how bad the display is. It's much worse than it shows on the photos. On to apple now requesting an exchange, been excited waiting for delivery then turns up with a bad display. Gutted

yeah definitely not playing swap game, even mine not "perfect" 32 will be fine :)

1) There are two versions of the panel out there. One is yellowish, and has measured brightness levels lower than the 6S. The other is clear, blueish, and matches the temp of the iPhone 6S, but with even better colors and +25% brightness (as promised in the keynote).

Mine has no noticeable extra brightness to my brother's 6S (it's not any dimmer though) but is definitely not overly yellow, looks just right. So which category does that fall into?

Shouldn't we be telling the OP that he must be a Samsung troll, has a vision problem, or look up his past history and see if he has had similar problems with all his phones. Or maybe, just maybe, there are lousy screens being delivered.

from what ive read no iphone 7 has a non yellow screen

The OP literally said that no iPhone 7 had a non-yellow screen...other posters have said:

Yeah take it back and swap for a phone that has a display matching the floor models.

Errr... my iPhone 7 does not have a yellow screen. It should not.

To the OP: KILL IT WITH FIRE. Alternatively, swap it out.

not sure what your point was other than to provoke dissention

Maybe its a slight variant of the good panel, not sure, but if it looks good to you then you should keep it.

Plenty of reports now that people are finding non yellow display phones and are getting replacements with non yellow screens. Look at some of the other threads like yellow gate. It's confirmed that yellow phones are the defects.

Displaymate said that their 7 only got noticeably brighter than the 6S when on auto brightness in bright ambient light, so it sounds like it's normal not to get any extra brightness when set to manual mode.

So essentially on ambient it will get brighter than the 6s when outside, i could use 15-20 brighter when outside, not so much inside. I always have mine on ambient and always notice when outside its on its max brightness via the toggle. Only time i manually turn mine down is when its to bright in bed at night lol.

Does anyone have reliable information as to whether Apple is using more than one supplier for the displays on the iPhone 7 Plus? That could explain the widely different experiences shared in this thread. Or perhaps it is matter of "variable component differences that are the normal outcome of the manufacturing process" (something Apple might state?). I would like to know which is it.

You know, I almost think the iP7 has the True Tone display from the iPad Pro. As far as I know it wasn't advertised, but it seems to me like the white point on my iP7 definitely shifts. I was just outside walking in direct sunlight and it looked noticeably yellow. I came inside, under fluorescent lighting and it looks much cooler now. That sounds very indicative of the True Tone display.

So what's the deal with replacements? Can I make a Genius Bar appointment for yellow screen and they'll just swap it out with (hopefully) a good one?

Most good displays do this. It's not True Tone doing it. Certain light will filter/enhance a screen. Bright, warm, yellow light will enhance a screen's warmer colors. Interior light depending on wether it's LED, FLOUR. or something else, will enhance the screen a different way. FLOUR. lighting will bring out a pinker/green color. No lights on inside or dim lights, the screen will appear whiter/cooler.

It's all perception and what the current ambient light is at the time. All screens do this to some degree. True Tone shifts it much more dramatically.

No appointment needed, any Apple rep in the store can exchange it. Just go there and there will not be a problem.

Obviously they must have the one you want in stock or you can wait until they do. Unless you decide you want something else instead that they have available.

If we do want to exchange, does Apple exchange only when bought directly from them? Or even if bought from, say, Verizon (which is what I did)? Was wondering if it may be better to try another source in hope to get a cooler phone.

Ahh I didn't even think of that. If I got mine through t-mobile, does apple still cover it/exchange it since the warranty is with them. Or I have to go through t mobile?
