Is it your position that every iPhone 12 has the exact same panel and calibration? Or is there any variance whatsoever?
If you read this thread you'd already know I said I agree with the sentiment of this topic. Just not the baseless accusations and random numbers being thrown around.

I'm not new to this either, I had an iPhone 7 with a warm panel that I had to exchange. So I know this has been an issue. But it's not objectively good or bad, it's just not calibrated. Now the actual "bad panels" with uniformity issues, brightness issues etc. like I already mentioned is something that is objectively a problem.

Cool, sounds like we 100% agree. Its a problem and if it bothers people, they have a shot at a panel without the problem.

I thought I’d try to get a good “neutral” photo of my 12 Pro. I think it has one of the best screens I’ve seen out there. I kept the screen brightness lower since that’s where you really notice the yellow.

They do and if it really bothers them they really should get it replaced. Having said that, I won't be replacing mine this time even though it's slightly warmer than my X. It has no other issues at all, and it's definitely much brighter than the X.

More importantly, even though I don't agree that 70% of the screens are faulty, it does seem that this year a majority of the screens so far have a warmer tint (and no I don't believe it's because of a yellow film inside the screen). So even if I were to replace it, the odds would still be against me, and I really can't be inconvenienced enough to keep replacing and setting it up so many times again and again. I really think this is something people should keep in mind before trying to replace their phones immediately.

Is it normal that I get this green / bluish tint when the screen is viewed at an angle? My first OLED display. TT is on.

OP only leaves his house on days when the sky has a nice blue tint. :p

I kid! Minus the conspiracy stuff I actually agree there are yellow displays. I've dealt with them on multiple iPhones and the issue (for me) was a lot worse in earlier years. Don't get me started on displays that had uneven backlighting. Since the X, I've gotten lucky with excellent displays including the 12 Pro.

For those who have to ask if their display is yellow, what gives? If you can't even tell then just enjoy your phone and don't venture down this path of possible endless frustration. If you have to compare two displays repeatedly to see a minor difference, it's not worth it. To those who are about to try their luck in the screen lottery, I really hope you get a decent one.

I think the article on the frontpage that says that Apple is working really hard to remedy the supply situation is important. For me its kind of logical that we are seeing some displays right at the edge of whats tolerated in terms of color shift due to supply being higher than demand.

There is simply so much pressure to get the units out there that some screens get sendt out that should have been replaced instead.

Greens are generally harder to categorize because they fall right in between blue and yellow so they vary between cool and warm. Also depending on angle photos are taken it can widely change the appearance. In person the 8 display is much cooler, it does photograph poorly though, I will admit.

Think of it like this... 2 axis scale... colour temperature slider up and down, warmer as it goes up (yellow), cooler as it drops down (blue). Colour tint slider from left to right. Green to the left and purple to the right.

White balance = correct Temp + correct tint. This is normally determined by use of a neutral gray card. You can have the correct temp but wrong tint... green or purple hue. Or the correct tint but wrong colour temp and have a blue or yellow screen. And variations in between of course.

The problem is, depending on the time of day (morning cooler light, Midday Netural, Sunset and sunrise warmer) or the Lights used in the room, your screen will look differently to your eyes. A screen that is colour corrected to look good in morning light will not look as good in the evening. This is what TrueTone is trying to correct. Basically, it's a live, ever changing white balance auto correct.

If TT is software based and is causing the problems, it is likely to be corrected... if it's deemed a problem.

After a week or frustration I’m finally admitting that the iPhone 12 Pro is yellow. Some are worse than others, but all are more yellow than the 11 Pro.

I’m sending mine back and going back to an iPhone 11 Pro, voting with my wallet that I do not like the shift to a yellower display. I’m sure it won’t make a difference but at least I won’t be frustrated with my device every time I look at my cool iPad or MacBook then look back at my jaundice iPhone 12 Pro.

My wife received her 12 Pro yesterday and the display is perfect. Rather impressive for OLED. Still not happy with the dim yellow-greenish tint of mine. I’m going to return it again but this time I’m getting the regular 12. I figure that even if I get another bad display, at least it’ll be cheaper.

you can be sure it's going to be mostly people commenting:

'this happens every year' (as if the user is to blame)
'you're looking at it wrong'
'get over it, its a phone'

etc etc lol. I look forward to it.
They’re mad because they weren’t allowed to wait in line for 3 days in a tent in front of an Apple store for the launch.

I’m going to try and exchange mine today. I’ll report back if I get a good display

I'll be returning two 12 Pro's next monday. Will also report back about the replacement units.

The Apple senior tech that I spoke with on the phone actually suggested me to return the devices after I showed here a load of pictures. A small hint of yellow tinting I could live with, but white showing up as yellow/orange is stressing me out, lol ..

Music to my ears 😁👍🏻 Does her screen also look better off-axis and is it generally brighter too? Thanks!

Where did the article go?

I don’t think I saw it post to front page today

Where is this article that was on the front page??

Are 12 Pro Max's showing this???

How would we know...they don't come out for 2 weeks. Variations between the Samsung and LG displays used for both the 12 and 12 Pro models will be there to some degree.
