Both are 5S'....

Most 5S' I've encountered are yellow... At this point, I really think perfect white display is the defect.

Yellow-ish bar at the top? According to a Genius, it is "within spec." It used to bother me because texts change color when scrolling up as they go through that yellow area... But now I live with it. I'm sure all other 5S' do it, so what can I do?

Imagine if a new Samsung phone had a non-uniform display. People will ditch it, and purchase other manufacturers' superior phones - Nexus, Xperia, etc. But Apple? We keep going back because iPhones are the only phones that offer iOS. Some people get stuck in "exchange lottery." Can you imagine doing that for a Samsung phone - exchanging your phone more than 3 times to get a perfect unit? No... You return it, and try a different phone from another manufacturer. Do you think I would have lived with a Galaxy with yellow-ish bar at the top of the screen? No! I would have gotten an Xperia. But I kept my 5S. Did I have any other choice? No. So don't you...

Also imagine if a Samsung phone rattled... Well, we probably would be saying different things instead of "it's design choice," or "it's normal."

But let's not forget iPhones are still technological marvels. Yes, they have flaws and imperfections that can affect user experience, but fact of the matter is that iPhones are top-of-the-class phones when it comes to features, performance, etc. Apple could have done a lot worse with this iOS monopoly. Remember MS in the 90s? At least Apple isn't like that, for now.

Ok, now I'm afraid that my exchange SE will be the same yellow mess as my first.
In that case I'd probably return it and wait for the iPhone 7. I love the 4" screen, I'm fine with the "old" technology (resolution etc.), but it just can't be this yellow...

Looks like night shift mode on the right. I've never seen it like this - I have been to two different apple stores and tried out a gold and rose gold iPhone SE and never have I seen white be yellow.

It can't be considered within spec if you are expecting white background and it shows yellow that is a defect.

Or that most of them won't get worked up over it.

Over at iMore, I don't see any threads or discussion about a rattle. I think there are a subset of people that is worked up over it, but dare I say many do not (I'm counted in the do not care category).

Accept that the SE isn't Apple's flagship model. Come to terms with its less than perfect quality, and just use it.
I wouldn't go that far, I think this thread is turning into a feeding frenzy over something that while maybe disappointing, is not in the scheme of things a big deal.

What a stupid argument.
Consequently we should just deal with imperfect iPad minis/Airs and MacBook Airs for example? They aren't flagships either.
The 5s was the flagship 2.5 years ago, and it had the same problems. According to your logic, these defects weren't okay back then, but now we should just accept and live with them?

I would return every device with a yellow screen like that, no matter if I paid 200$ or 900$ and no matter if there is some "superior" device elsewhere.

Doesn't this have something to do with the differences between how the screen and display are mounted together? If I remember right, aren't the screen and display one piece on the 6 series?

I just watched several comparison videos on YouTube, in which the SE is put next to other iPhone models.
In almost every single video, the SE screen looks warmer.

To those of you, who said their SE is perfect: could you make a photo next to some other Apple device and post it here? I'm curious if there is even one SE that has the classic (cold) Apple screen calibration..

If you use the phone for reading documents in landscape mode its a pretty big deal as you can easily notice the yellowish text on the left

My 5S has yellow tint around the top, but not sides.
Same here mine is so little at the very top url bar but it no where else.

I have the 6s and SE will try and get some side by side shots.

As promised here are some pics I took with my iPad mini 4.
The SE is on the left and my 6s is on the right.
Both SE and 6s were set to 100% brightness level.
I can see just a slight tad of yellow at the very top of the SE but it's not too bad.

I will say that there is a big difference in screens aside from the obvious size difference,
the 6s just has a nicer screen, more blueish hue and it's more uniform across the entire
screen. There is a difference from looking at an HD display (6s) vs a non HD display (SE)

Return that jaundice-y crap. Looks like cigarette stains

Buy two next time, save yourself the hassle.

That doesn't look too bad,

it's not that noticeable in normal usage, but when you put it next to my iphone5.. damn.

I agree, you need to return that back to the store and get another SE as mine doesn't look anything like that, in fact I just went to the Calendar app for April and I'm looking at the same screen on my SE but mine doesn't look like that, your's is very yellow and it all the way across the screen.

Mine is warmer than my iPhone 6. I haven't decided whether it bothers me enough to return or exchange it, to be honest. I gave my old 5S to a friend so I can't remember whether the screen on it was similar.

Well we know where Apple saved the most money.... Disappointing. I'll try to get some comparison shots when mine shows up. Keeping my fingers crossed that if it is yellow, it is yellow over the whole screen and not just blotchy
