Yeah it sucks in this situation because I don't want a genius replacement but no stores have any stock and who knows when they will get stock.

Forced to return the phone and play the waiting game. I really loved this SE too. It does feel like the perfect size phone and the build quality feels much better in the hand than the 6S that I have.
Out of curiosity, what are you referring to as the build quality? I thought the SE felt much more comfortable to hold and easier to grip, but my 6S feels much heftier and tightly assembled. What is it that you think is better built on the SE?

I would see if you can look at w replacement under the condition if it's junk you'll stay put for a while , and then return as 14 days approaches if you can't do even exchange

So I tossed my SE on the entry hall floor next to my old ipad for comparison,

What do you think?

It's hard to say...are both set to 100% brightness? The SE looks like it has a blueish tint but that may be your camera is overcompensating for the bright ipad next to the SE. Why don't you take another pic of just your SE and get closer so not much else is in the background too. Are you seeing any yellowing on the SE?

But if you accept that white box replacement phone, you CAN NOT return the phone anymore. Once you accept it, it's yours with no return.

1. It's no white box replacement, it's completely new.
2. Yeah maybe that's how it works in the US. There are different laws in Germany, so I can still return it.

In the UK you won't be able to return the phone if you accept service replacement.
Anyway it sounds like you are being offered a retail unit, which is great

Yeah that's what I would like to do. I Just hate that the Apple store is a 30 minute drive for me so it's such a hassle.

I just think the feel in your hand is much nicer. The iPhone 6S feels slippery to me and just feel uncomfortable in my hand. When I hold the 5S/SE it feels more like a nice phone. It may not be "build quality" I'm talking about but it just seems much nicer when holding the SE model.

I agree with you in that regard. There's no contest for me over which iPhone is most comfortable hold in my hand. The SE wins easily. If the screen looked as clear and flawless as my 6S, the buttons were as firm and it had 3D Touch, I'd be switching for sure. As it is now, it's a hard choice for me, considering the trade-offs.

Yes it is tough. I've gone back and forth between the both of them. My 6S screen is much nicer but man that SE feels so "perfect" in my hand. I also noticed the touch screen responsiveness is better on my 6S but after using the SE a couple of days I don't notice it.

Don't give up the good 6s's screen... Y'all act like the 6s is the biggest phone ever.. I'd never give up my 6s s+'s display for that old 5s display

Returned my SE today.. the genius noticed the yellow on top right away. Got a full refund and an apology as there is no stock in store for an exchange. Will give SE another shot when they receive some more.

Sorry to hear...but if enough people do that Apple might fix the issue, might.

So, having read more about the glue theory, and someone suggesting UV would help, I thought I'd try an ordinary lamp as I've not got access to a UV one.

I left my iPhone SE under a small bright light, and I think I must be going crazy, because it has somewhat dampened the yellowness! It's still there slightly, but it's no where near as bad as it was. I hope my eyes aren't deceiving me because I've been temporarily looking at the bright light and it really has made a difference, but I don't have high hopes...

If someone else could try the same, and report back.

i'm waiting until the last few days of the 14 days no questions asked to either exchange or return mine (hopefully Apple gets their shipments together by then, and or have started using better displays.. tho this is very wishful thinking), but i'm definitely not keeping this old newspaper display.

I am going to do the same, only problem is is that the space grey 64gb is on about a 3 week delivery here in the uk, so i will have to go back to using the 6s for 3 weeks, but don't really want to do that.

My old OnePlus One had the yellow banding issue on the bottom , it was suggested to leave on the dashboard in the sun but that didn't diminish the yellowing unfortunately .

What do you people say to Genius at Apple Store to get refund/exchange that easily?

I was denied exchange as Genius insisted the yellow-ish bar at the top is "within spec." I also brought my iPhone for smudge-like discoloration taking up top half of the screen, and the Genius just couldn't see it. It took another Genius to see it, but even then he was not convinced... In the end I got an exchange, but it was difficult. And all these happened within the week of purchase.

I said there is a yellow band across the top, the genius said wow there sure is. He apologized and said I will only be able to get a refund at this time as there is no stock to give as an exchange.

Probably needs to be more noticeable? Although I think some of them just aren't as detail oriented as some of us. I brought in my 2012 rMBP that had the image retention issue on the LG displays. They had a special thing they loaded up with a checkerboard pattern. After it went off you could clearly still see the pattern on the display, but the "genius" claimed he couldn't see it. Well why else would I drive 120 miles to bring this thing in? He ended up sending it in for repair and it came back with the Samsung display that had no issues after that. I think part of it might also be that the lighting in there isn't ideal. With my MacBook I often use it in a dimly lit room with lighting behind the display so it doesn't have a bunch of reflections. I do a lot of design and photography work so I can't have all these bright lights bouncing off my display. In that environment it was several times more apparent. If I was working on a design for 15-20 minutes and would switch to another I could still see my last design imprinted over the new one.

I have a 6S and SE now. At first I thought the SE's screen looked warmer and a little on the yellow side. However, after using my SE fully for a couple of days without looking at the 6S, guess what, it doesn't look so yellow/warm to me any more; and when I put it up next to my 6S, the 6S looks too cool with a slight pink hue to it.

So much of this is what we're already used to (beyond the truly bad yellow band issue).

Rather than go through the same hassle i am just going to return mine in the 14 day return period and order a new one. People on here have advised not to get an exchange because if you are still not happy they will not exchange it again, so better to return and buy new again.

I just shipped mine back to Apple now to return it. I'm going to keep checking stock at my local store and try to reserve one for pick up.

I also didn't want to deal with the "genius" not seeing the yellow bar and giving me a hard time. Also, once they swap one you are unable to return the phone and you are stuck with it. I don't want to play that game either.

If i were you i would order direct from the Apple Store to make sure you get the latest stock, if you buy it from your local store it could be older stock, they could have stock at a holding depot that they do a slow release to stores, so they are not out of stock for long periods of time.

Yes I will be ordering directly from Apple. I'm just hoping stock pops up at the Apple store before the estimated delivery times of April 25th. Apple had a 14 day return policy where as carriers have a 14 day return policy but a 10% restocking fee that I do not want to pay if I return another one.
