If it's software (serious question) why does it differ from phone to phone?
Apple lottery. Apple probably uses displays from more than one source.

a bit disappointednot sure what to do. Both are on max brightness and nightshift off.
That xperia is pink as heck!
As promised here are some pics I took with my iPad mini 4.
The SE is on the left and my 6s is on the right.
Both SE and 6s were set to 100% brightness level.
I can see just a slight tad of yellow at the very top of the SE but it's not too bad.
I will say that there is a big difference in screens aside from the obvious size difference,
the 6s just has a nicer screen, more blueish hue and it's more uniform across the entire
screen. There is a difference from looking at an HD display (6s) vs a non HD display (SE)

So i've used the SE throughout the day and I gotta say it's not noticeable in normal use. It's only visible when put next to my iPhone5.
I'm going by Apples website do a compare between models and you will see they have the same ppi 326 but the 6s has an HD display but the SE does not.You say the 6s is HD and the SE is non HD, aren't they both 326 ppi.
Your right on that, if you turn screen down to say 50% the yellow is more noticeable on a white background, on mine you can see some yellow at the top more visible. I've noticed that the SE has a much dimmer screen than my 6s, I usually have to keep my SE at around 70% brightness however that same level on the 6s would be way too bright for me. The 6s I would usually keep at 50% brightness worked best for me. So they are entirely difference screens (not talking about the obvious size)Thank you all for your pictures!
As it turns out, even the best SE screen I've seen so far (MrGruder's) is still noticeably warmer than other iPhone screens. Remember, if you turn the brightness down a bit, the yellow tint becomes even more obvious.![]()
If it's really bothering you just return the phone get a refund and order when they are back in stock. This saves you from the 14 day return policy.I have the yellow bands across the top and right side of my screen. Once you see them it's hard to unseen.
I want to return the phone and get a real replacement but all of the Apple stores are out of stock. I'm hard pressed to schedule a genius bar appointment because now they physically replace the screen on the phone and I don't want to do that to my week old phone.
Why can't Apple just let me get a perfect phone on the first try?

I called Apple and they said they keep some SE in stock for people who need to exchange their faulty SE for a new one. If you return it and order a new one, you'd probably have to wait 1-2 weeks. If you call them and set up an exchange, the new one should arrive within a few days.
Thats at least how they handled my case (in Germany).
But if you accept that white box replacement phone, you CAN NOT return the phone anymore. Once you accept it, it's yours with no return.
This is true, I did the same thing went to several web pages that had a lot of white turn the SE upside down and it's easy to see the yellow at the top doesn't match the bottom. Mine is not so bad but it's noticeable.Mine is definitely yellowish at the top.
If you turn your SE upside down with just white on screen, the difference between top and bottom is vast.
