This sort of thing doesn't bother me, but if it bother you, my new iPad has a pretty noticeable yellow tint. I noticed it as soon as I fired up Safari, and when I placed it next to my iPad 2 it became very obvious. But it also made me think the color replication on my iPad 2 might not be so spot on either....

No worries here, I'm happy with it.

Attached is a pic.

That is awful.

Absolutely. This forum, while great, does more harm then good sometimes.

You don't need a forum to tell you that your white screen is yellow. What's wrong with these forums are all the unintelligent fanboys telling people that the yellow screen is going to magically change to white if they just wait a few weeks.

I don't see much of a difference. iPad 3 is on the right.

I have yellow tint but will sit it out for a couple of weeks (until new stocks come into Apple) & see if it improves in the meantime...

I was looking at my iPad and holding up to the screen thinking, ahh guess it's just some peoples as mine seemed alright and prob looked more like the yellow than the blue but thought it was fine.

Only when i got my iPhone 4 out and turned up the brightness on both devices that i did see that it does has a yellowness to the iPad screen.
Hopefully will go away but im sure i will get used to it.

Maybe Samsung have hijacked the Apple screens, lol
"Samsungs New Tab Whites appear white....just checkout the competition" ;o)

Perhaps both have LG panels. If history is any indication, Samsung is the producer of the yellow tinged display (at least in my experiences). I don't think it's been confirmed (yet) that Samsung is the sole supplier of retina display for the 3rd generation iPad.

This s@*t cracks me up.

"I can't wait for the new iPad."
"I've had both the iPad and iPad 2 so far."
"Should I pre-order or stand in line on launch day?"
"When is the optimal time to sell my iPad 2?"
"What's the shipping status on your iPad?"
"My iPad's screen is too yellow for my taste."
"I'll return it as many times as it takes until I get what I think is perfect."

Too funny...

Here are some pics of mine. The Ipad 2 on the left and New Ipad on the right. In person I don't think it looks yellow.

Yeah it isn't ridiculous amount but does have a slight more yellow tint (is the correct term warmth?) to the screen.
Just makes the iBooks look more authentic like ya have had the book on the bookcase for about a year and the paper has started to get older :O)

Am still mighty impressed with mine regardless. Be nice if they did get whiter or a software update could make them appear more so, but saying that now am pretty sure my PC screen has more of a yellow tinge than my iPhone looking at it.

Wonder if it makes it easier on the eyes so not to piercing bright....like switching monitor to 'Internet' or 'text' mode. I agree that maybe there could be different colour profiles in the settings so you could choose 'warm' 'cool' etc so users could choose their preference.

It looks like difference in color temperature to me. Warmer color could be more comfortable to read text sometime.

Does anyone remember going from an original iPhone to the 3G? Basically the same thing and everyone was going to return theirs unless Apple fixed it. Apple never fixed them (they weren't brocken just calibrated differently) and no one ever returned one.

And don't think for one moment that we don't appreciate that you checked with everyone to see if anyone returned one, because we DO, we really do.

Mike

I just bought a 16GB Black at Best Buy. I am happy to report that the whites look white. :)

After direct comparison with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the iPad has a warmer tone. It doesn't look yellow, but more natural.

well maybe my eyes are not very sensitive, i'm color blind with the color yellow or I just don't give a **** but in person. iPad looks awesome to me, don't really care about a slight yellow shade but I supposed my iMac has it too because my iMac screen looks like my new iPad. Happy with what I got.

And I contest the idea that Samsung makes yellow panels. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 displays a neutral appearing white (and no blacklight bleed).

If you have nothing to compare it to ala an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4/4S you won't notice..

What'd I'd like to know/see is if anyone with a new iPad has similar hue/color/blue/cool screen. This yellow tint could just be the norm for ALL new iPads.

Dam you apple "I got a Yellow one" arnt I lucky :¬(

Iphone 3,3g,4 and ipad1 all blue tint guess law of averages caught up on me.
Still this makes me very sad and i didnt expect an emotional reaction to yellow.

Warmer screens have richer colors this is the last of my worries.

Backlight bleed is another story and that appears to be fixed, as there would have been a huge mega thread with tons of complaints (did see a couple complaints but they didnt even look bad). I'll be picking one up hopefully that issues a thing of the past.

Just got mine :(

Returned 5 iPad 2s for backlight bleeding and now this. How long do I have to return it? Want to wait a while and see if it improves.

Really don't feel like going to my local Apple store... they employees are so rude and incompetent.

Okay, I'd like to get this said while we're just a few posts in:

The yellow tint goes away when the digitizer adhesive cures.

If you still have a yellow-ish screen in a week or two, go swap it out at :apple:.

Stop spreading lies.

2 years down the line my original iPad still has it. My year old iMac still has it. My iPhone 4 still has it.

Let's face it. Apple quality control still sucks.

i sorta have a lil bit of a yellow tint on the right side but its un noticeable unless you really get close other then that its beautiful... however if it gets worst in a week ill return it. who knows hopefully it will just disappear.
