Don't fool yourself the yellow will not clear up and go away.
If you find a good one keep it!

I wish this yellow sceen lark was all an April fool.
I have had 12 ipads and Im not lying, I wish I was.
A few yellow, a few pink, bad lighbleed.
Had managers in-store open a few and all bad.
I have been at this since day 1 and am really getting fed up with it now.

My main concern is that LG are on board and will be better in a few weeks maybe.
And if I dont keep refunding and buying, a genius swap in a few weeks may say no!

So I am in a right pickle! - And it dosnt help that the one I have is pretty good, but I should not have to put up with lightbleed.

I had 10 until i got one worthy of £600

Bill;)

Took some better pics of my screen. Production week 7 ipad 3 bought on launch day. No issues whatsoever with the screen. No pinks or greens, no yellow and no dead pixels. Looks exactly like my ipad 2 did. Has some light bleed at max brightness, but i don't usually stare at a black screen at max brightness, so it doesn't bother me. Again, keep in mind that it's difficult to take pics of the screen exactly the way a human eye sees it, so the screen actually looks better than in those pics.

Yours is an exact replica of my new one, but lucky enough I didn't get the bleed. But if I had any minimal bleed or even dead pixels I wouldn't be taking this back. Took me too long to get one which was neutral:)

Can someone confirm that the brightness of the new iPad on max is not as bright as the iPad 2 on max? I compared my new iPad to an iPad 2 and at max brightness it was not as bright.... Just want to know if this is normal...

Its not as blue no, blue hues will always look brighter... I would say the ipad 2 is about 20 percent brighter on full blast, but the retina screen compensates for its sheer beauty. When taking pics with the 4s and photo streaming it you really see the depth of colour in the 8mp pic.

ipad 3 compliments the 4s to a tee.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure this was common. When i checked my new ipad next to the ipad 2 i was surprised the ipad 2 was brighter when both on max (i mean just general LED backlight brightness). Not bad thing and I agree the new ipad screen is stunning. I did also read somewhere that the new ipad uses 2.5 times more power to light the screen so its not surprising that it does not go as bright.

If you go to the apple store and check out the ipad two on the desks showing adverts and look at the ipad 3 it will allay your fears. I think they had major problems backlighting the ipad so considering the brightness they actually got its quite a marvel;)

This thread seems to have really slowed down, maybe people are starting to get their ipads replaced with good screens now, i sincerely hope so;)

just traded in my week 2 verizon 4G. The left half was very yellow/dark compared to the right side. After my wife agreed with me (thats my test to see if I'm just being OCD or not) I brought it to the apple store. Genius agreed with me right away and replaced it with this one:

Name: iPad 3
Group1: iPad
Group2:
Generation: 3
Machine Model: iPad3,3
Model introduced: 2012
Production year: 2012
Production week: 11 (March)
introduced test: GOED
Family name: A1403
Screen size: 9 inch
Screen resolution: 2048x1536 pixels

You can ignore the color on the top left. That is just a reflection of the overhead light in my room, its a very yellow dimmed incandescent bulb.

My first two both had pretty obvious yellow tint but only on the top 1/3 of the screen. Just got my third one and it is a lot better. The top right hand side in portrait looks very slightly yellow but I think I'm just being OCD now so I will probably keep this one.

There is definitely a problem with some of these new screens though. The guy that helped me tonight at the apple store couldn't believe it when he saw my keyboard split in landscape, color difference in the keys was that obvious to everyone I asked to see if something looked wrong.

I got a perfect iPad 3 i thought, than i put it next to one of my parents ipad 2's and it's a warmer screen. I actually like it though - it's easier on the eyes.

My second ipad3, after changing the first one due to yellow screen. This one is still very yellow, so I will try it one more time, and hopefully get a better one this time.

Would people consider the white plastic bezel as a 'reference point' for what white is ?

With my second replacement, Apple also gave me $50 credit to spend at the online store and also a free smart cover for the inconvenience.

Trouble is, I don't know what to spend the $50 on lol!

Awesome! Did manager at store give that to you or did you order online? What issues did you have with it? Dead pixel or screen display issue?
