Yellow Tint!

Hey guys,

So a quick question regarding yellow screens:

Sadly, I've ended up with an extremely yellow screen on my iPad. I purchased it at launch day, but haven't really had the chance to use it much until now. Now that I'm using it more frequently, it's pretty obvious that my screen is a little less bright than it should be, and that there is a definite yellow tint to the screen.

I purchased my iPad at a Verizon store on launch day, so it's been a little more than two weeks.

What are my options at this point? It's past the 14 day return window for Verizon.

I got my 9th unboxed iPad today and it looks like they have finally weeded out the pissy screens, the one before this was brilliant white but had a green corner but this looks perfectly neutral thank god. This now is definitely a keeper.

The guy at the store refused to swap it originally due to my history with this ipad but i stood fast and got a new one

Don't you notice that the top (near the front camera) is yellow, and the bottom is a little bluish. Mine also looks like yours, that bothers me a little.

My latest iPad (week 2) is yellow, especially towards the top. It's really bad, and very apparent when split keyboard is used in landscape mode. Guess I'm going to have to make another exchange.

If you are outside of the 14 day window, you are out of luck to return it. I think Verizon has a restocking fee anyway. Your best bet is to take it to an apple store and ask for an exchange via the genius bar. See what they say.

I ordered online, so the credit and smart cover was given directly from Apple.

I'd gone through two replacements and Apple stuffed up the return process on the 2nd one, which I made them well aware about lol!

The original iPad had a dark stain down one side of the display, the second has a piece of hair under the display. My third iPad is great!

Yikes! The hair is really gross lol. But perhaps worth a free smart cover and gift card

My iPad screen has yellow spots when I rotate it or shift my viewing angle, But so does my Samsung 55 in LED TV and 15 in Macbook pro. I use my Sammy display as a Computer monitor. The yellow goes away in seconds. Is this normal?

So I returned it for iPad no.11 to day and they was so accomidating at covent garden, met the most wonderful customer service agent EVER.... He took the ipads out the boxes one by one and let me choose the best. Now i have a fantastic iPad.

He said you as the customer should not have to put up with this... This guy IS what makes Apple great.

Blacks are darker, colours are richer... You will know the difference between a good one and a crap one. Out of the 11, this one definitely rules)

I'm pissed I didn't see the dust until after the return period.....now I'm stuck with my (what I see as) green tinty iPad. Oh well....my Mom is due to upgrade at some point....I'll see whether she sees the tint on my iPad and do a swap with her.

Congrats on the (hopefully) final and perfect iPad screen. Sad we have to go through all this.

Apple seem to be accepting the problem, maybe they will be more helpful now they are seeing lots of returns?

Tim cook may be superb at distributing these things all over the planet, but I think Jobs not being around has hampered QC in a big way

So I got a refund and gave up for a bit.

I placed another online order since it was a 2 week wait hoping I would get a good screen with new stock, however that arrived today and the same yellowing is there. My mum (who has my original one) came over to compare as she said she would have my new one cos she wouldn't be able to see the difference, but after seeing the new one side by side, she changed her mind (quite rightly). So this one is going back again.

Really getting pee'd off with this situation now, I'm gonna have a long conversation with Apple on the phone tomorrow I think.

Here is another 2 pics of what i consider to be a normalus ipad... I dont think there are any perfect ones out there ATM so its a matter of taking what you can live with and enjoy it.. Even the good ones are not perfect;(

Sorry Apple, but if you couldn't procure consistent, quality panels....why release the new iPad?

I'm at a point now with this latest replacement...where I'll likely have to sell it to someone who doesn't see the greenish tint....just so I can get an iPad that I can use. I'm bummed because I use the iPad every night....I do all my reading on it.

I really think the attentive people on this forum are paying the price for the "sheep" that will accept anything.... It isnt OCD it's reality Im quite proud of you lot that are making a fuss because without you guys we would all still have our nasty pissy original ipads from the 1st batch;( 1st batch was just evil....

Agreed the viewing angles are not the best from below, from the side its extreme... and the strangeness continues... Im just so glad the apple troll sheep machine has finally dwindled on this topic, its there and its very very real.

Noticed it when i got it but thought it would maybe go away. Tried the burn in thing for over 40h with no change at all.

Yup....Apple store refused to replace it. He said three geniuses looked and none saw any issues. Maybe it's true....my wife can't see the issue, but my eyes can. I think I'm in a bad position where it's how I view the iPad.....my eyes are seeing it.

I have to have some more people around me look and see if they can see anything.....if they can't, then maybe I need my eyes checked

I had this fear on returning the one with the piece of dust.....the panel was decent except for the dust....I should have just wanted.....live and learn. And BTW.....is it possible for dust to get under the glass AFTER use? I could swear it wasn't there during the first 2 weeks I had it. I can't see how anything can get under there.

I had a dead pixel on mine, the pixels are so small that it looks like dust... The geniuses have to replace it, go in there and say your wifi is messed up, its dropping out, maybe not say its the screen, they cant test the wifi. Also you could say its getting really hot while 3d gaming and going into "cool down mode". say this happened after just 25-30 mins of gaming.

The ipad is sealed so no dust can get inside, get a straight swap mate
