Yoobao leather iPad 2 case (Smart Cover sleep/wake function)

I ordered mine from the HK based seller, decided to get the black one. Let's see how long it takes to get to the UK, normally bout 5-7 from HK. Will let you know!

No, that's not what I said. Someone asked if the black leather skin would add much bulk to the iPad and I answered that it doesn't.
I ordered my Brown Yoobao case from AYL on Sunday (27th) and it was shipped the next day. Monday (28th).
I guess the dude does some preparing on Sundays.
I'm happy it got shipped so quick. I should get it by the end of the week. He/she ships it USPS.

It feels like leather, smells like plastic. Mine is still airing out. I put leather cleaner on it and that helped wipe off some of the smelly coating it had on it. It seems to be molding better to fit, and the flap is a little better at staying flat.
Not sure why all the ordering questions and cancellations, maybe some sellers are out of stock. I got my black one in 2-3 days to TX from CA seller at the kiev site. ordered on Fri got it Monday.

I'm confused. I ordered my case on March 23 from AYL on Amazon and it still says shipping soon but the delivery estimate is March 30th. Yesterday, the 28th I contacted them and they said that the estimated ship date is March 25, 2011.....which I promptly pointed out is 3 days in the past. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm wondering if they just forgot to update the shipping info. The delivery estimate is still set for March 30th-April 1st.
^^^ No it didn't happen to me. AYL was very prompt - received shipping notice on Friday March 25 - received Yoobao on Monday, March 28.
Same experience for me with AYL. Shipped on the 25th, and I got it on the 28th (even though the shipping estimated receipt on the 1st of April). I have zero complaints.

I've worked in a design capacity and know full well the cover could have been designed to stay shut, much like the original iPad case, without adding any bulk to the overall design. The way it is currently manufactured is totally flimsy, and flobs open needlessly, was obviously rushed into production without time for tedtingvwith the real product. I am very sure we will see improvements to this, like the first one as time goes on, but no matter which way you want to spin it, this one is not a quality product at all.
Even some kind of very small velcro closure system would not have added to the overall real estate of the product.
The toxic smell of this skin, if it's really a skin, could be dog for all I know, is overwhelming! I don't know what they use but whatever it is most certainly can't be a chemical that any reputable leather manufacture in the US would use in treating their skins. I would bet its more than likely a banned substance. That part of the world is not known for their environmental concern or their compliance to regulatory standards set in other countries.
I ordered on the 24th and had this problem. I've seen that other people on here ordered after me and got theres before mine shipped, it was a little frustrating. I have also seen others on here who have the same problem, ordered before others but never shipped. So I contacted the seller to cancel it and ordered from he who must not be named and it shipped within 30 minutes.
Seems to be a mixed batch of veiws here some really happy others describing the item of poor quality.
As I have already ordered mine I guess I will wait to pass judgement.
However has anyone else found any other good alternatives? Preferable real leather, anything that is soft and protects all the case.

Just checked it out, looks quite nice! Considering getting that. Not out yet though ><
I gave the Yoobao a mixed review, but I do like that it is thin and minimal and fits well. I think most ipad cases are overpriced, even that STP Skinny, $40? when Power Support screen protector is $40 shipped, and the Apple leather flap is $70+, cases seem cheap I guess.
My main gripe with the Yoobao, is I'd like the flap to close securely, it flops open, easier than the ipad1 apple case did. I think making the magnets as a closure probably effects the on/off function, (which I turned off on Yoobao), it doesn't work as cleanly as the Apple cover.

So is this case good for carrying in a briefcase? I don't want the cover flopping open and leaving the ipad on. I'm happy to hear that it's really thin and keeps the form factor but kinda disappointed to hear the cover doesn't stay shut.
This still seems to be the best case out. Who knows when the Speck skin will be available and I really with the Marware CEO had a normal leather look instead of the carbon fiber thing.

Possibly could install velcro wrap to keep the case shut or a snap button..
Our 2 black cases just got delivered. Very nice.
Hopefully the manufacturing, (chemical/glue?) smell will subside soon, I think it will.
Fits like a glove, looks great.

Its made in china. If you want a good laugh read the little tag that dangles off the case when you open it up. All your base are belong to us...
If you want a 'quality' leather product wait for the Vaja case. For $40 i was surprised how good the case feels in my hands. Its soft... and the cover lays flat over the screen (not like some other Yoobao covers). The cover does not stay 'locked' into the screen. If thats something you need buy a different case.. this case was made to resemble Apples ipad 1 case. Yoobao has other styles of cases for the ipad 1... im sure they'll have something that locks for the ipad2.

Its thin... not much padding... good protection around the edges and back.
It has a good angle while typing (with the cover folded back and locked into the holder).
The cover folds back nice and flat (very soft leather).
The cover will trigger the power/sleep feature when folded back ALL THE WAY. As somebody said earlier its easy to adjust so it doesn't happen... but it happens. Hopefully something thats fixed in version 2.

There you go... my $0.02c worth. After using it for a day at work i'm super happy with $40 purchase. Is it the best cover ever... no.. but it is the best cover that is currently available that fits my needs/wants.
