Lets not forget that leather lip (dirt trap) that rides around the edge of the most important part of any iPad, THE SCREEN! How can this case possibly be as popular as it is? Like Stangs said it really is a POS in the end, which covers critical, and I mean critical elements of the iPad2-sight and sound.

Good luck with this, at least you can be happy with the fact you didn't spend a ton of money like I did the case I ordered. But at least the screen isn't covered! Willing to pay a premium to have my ENTIRE screen visible and my speaker uncovered as well. There are much better options out there than this case.

Any links to "much better cases" that are available now?

In your world is anyone actually allowed to have their own taste, preferences or opinions? Or are we just free to think as we're told to....by you?

:D

:D

Hahahahahaha +1

And the reason so many people want to cover the screen is to protect it, duh. Would you rather have a smart cover with just a line of magnets on the side?? That doesn't seem like much of a cover if you ask me.

For folks who have received this case, does it have openings for mic and speaker? As such the iPad speaker isn't stereo. Won't want to dampen that too. :)

I don't have mine yet but I have seen a lot of images and videos from other people on here who have showed both the mic and speaker openings.

I just noticed mine does not have a cut out for the mic. I've sent a rely to the shipping notification I received and we'll see what can be done.

What color is your case anyway? Do u know if your case is an authentic yoobao?

It's black and I'm fairly sure it's real. Anyway, I got a response right away and am getting a replacement sent out to me. I must say whoever is running shop at the site know customer service.

Mine has speaker and mic cutouts. I did some testing with Dragon speak last night to see if the mic cutout was adequate and it seemed to work just fine.

To the people who don't even own this case and haven't seen it or used it in person saying it's a POS, I can lay the case flat open in my lap and it doesn't lock. It only locks if I stretch the cover over to the edge of the back, which is not something I would do in a real use scenario.

I suspect this is not the last case I'll buy but for $40 it's very functional and does exactly what I need it to until there are more options on the market.

I'd like to have a case with exactly these features made of nice full grain leather.

My Yoobao still doesn't do the auto off because the front flap closes too short. I have to pull the cover to the closer edge manually for it to sync up right. I'm trying to loosen the hinge area thinking maybe it will stretch, but so far it doesn't close fully enough to activate the auto off on it's own. it stops about 1/3" too short.

More photos of the brown one. Sorry I don't have an iPad2 yet :(

That brown is bad ass!! I think I may order this today, but I have to continue reading the thread, and look around for reviews today..

I have had my black case for a day now and here are my two cents:

1. Yes it smells, but the smell is definitely fading.
2. The leather is soft and feels very naturally. Hard to believe the quality of the leather for $40.
3. The case stand functionality works very well.
4. The sleep/wake functionality works advertised as well. I cannot get mine to lock/sleep when the folding the case back.
5. The case stays closed so it is safe to put in a bag
6. My only complaint is the bezel is covered by the case. This is my first apple case that covers the bezel and I just think it takes away the sharpness factor of the ipad.

Overall, for $40 I love it. I will be returning my smart cover today. I will be on the look-out for a similar case that does not cover the bezel

I'm not trying to keep this going... but... huh? Can you explain what you mean about leather lip covering 'critical elements'?

Its hard to believe that i used Apple's iPad 1 case for almost a year and all that time i was missing 'critical' features. Dang... i wish i would have known .

PS. for those that have asked... i can't tell a difference in the sound with the case on or off. My mic hole lines up with the mic (mine is a 3g ATT).

PSS. for those who didn't ask... I like this case because it protects the full edge of the iPad while still being slim and sleek.

Okay, I just ordered the brown on Amazon, from the AYL people.. Though I have yet to see any pics of a black iPad 2 in the brown case, I'm sure that I will like it.. I got brown because I like the professional look of the case, and I work in an industry where just about everyone has iPads now, so black cases are all over the place.. I would much rather be different..

I had mine sitting out, hopefully the smell will subside at some point. It can be overwhelming.

Mine sat by me on my desk for 9 hours yesterday... by the end of the day i think i had a good buzz going :D.

Its not as bad today... Its still my only complaint with this case.

Sucks to be an early adopter.

Now I just need for it to get here before Tuesday of next week.. That's the deadline on taking this Smart Cover back to the Apple store and getting my $39 back for it.. that is going to pay for the Yoobao case..

bite me in advance, if you think that's somehow wrong or shady.. :D:eek::apple:

I did the exact same thing ;)

I ordered this case last Friday and received it on Monday. Yes there was a strong chemical smell when I took it out of the box, but as of today, it has faded to the point where it is almost gone.

The leather is soft and all the cutouts are there ( including one for the mic ) and line up perfect. The sleep function works, but on occasion it has triggered itself to sleep while the flap is folded back flat laying on my lap ( mostly when I pick it up to stand or sit it down on a table ).

Overall, I like this case and it serves my needs for now.

Now I don't feel so bad.. :D:D:cool::cool:

funny thing when i walked into BB yesterday, the sales rep by the door asked me to go over and ask what my nature is coming in with a BB bag. i opened the bag and told him i wanted to return the smart cover, he briefly said "just what i suspected" :D. i wonder how many of these are returned to them?!

It's a temporary thing until we all get cases which act as 'Smart Covers'.. Honestly, the Smart Covers are cool, but they don't protect ANYTHING, and over time, they begin to show wear and tear.. mine is starting to darken around the edges (i'm assuming from the oil in my skin, and from contact in general), not to mention the hinge shaving issue where it's leaving dark what I perceive to be metal dust from the hinges on the side of my iPad.. it's easy enough to just wipe off, but it's still a nuisance..

the Smart Cover is smart... but it's going back as soon as my Yoobao gets here.. hell, I may not even want the money back.. I may just exchange it for the Camera Connection Kit, or the HDMI Kit.. who knows..

Any links to "much better cases" that are available now?

Available now has little to do with how to properly protect the device. Yes, there are better cases available, in a few days. Marware CEO 2 for example and is much nicer than this case.

Don't get me wrong the old Yoobao magic case was rockin, this particular case with that leather lip around the edge just doesn't make sense to me because it covers the bezel. I suppose if you were coming from the old MAC case this one is better.

Enjoy your cases, I was just messin with the thread. Sorry if I got anyone fired up. Really I am just pissed I have to wait for mine, and that Yoobao didn't update the magic case first because I might have just got that. But the closest thing to the magic case that is shipping in the next week or so is the Marware CEO Hybrid 2, just not leather unfortunately.

Got mine today. Ordered it Monday.

Everyone is certainly right about the smell, but it seems like it will go away. My wife's Kindle cover was the same way.

First impression: Is this the perfect case? No, but it suits my current needs and does keep a slim profile. I'm going to let it air out a few days I believe.
