Received my black case from he-who-must-not-be-named today. Based on the comments on this thread, I took some Lysol wipes to the thing to disinfect and at least clean the surface. That awful smell folks are noting has an embalmed or lacquer smell that's familiar if you've ever walked into an import shop. Also having the issue with the magnets activating sleep mode when you flip the cover back. The cover's thin enough at the bend that the magnets will inevitably reach. I just had to turn the feature off in the settings. That aside, the fit and build of the case are excellent. I did wish the leather padding protecting the back side was just a shade thicker. If you're looking for a portfolio case that won't add any tangible weight/dimension to your iPad, this is it. Provided the horrible smell goes away completely, I see keeping my iPad in it permanently.

Just placed an order for the black Yoobaoo, hope it will get fast... almost bought Vaja, and I would if it would have closed corner.

The guy you can't mention in here will have the Vaja style I pad 2 cases like in wilwired's CHINAO leather I pad video with the sleep wake function in premium leather in about 3 weeks

Hi, so would u guys recommend this case? Just got the griffin case at bestbuy and i'm not liking it since it doesnt fit right but i like it thinness.

This is nothing like the griffin case which I tried also and took back because it fit so loose. This case fits very well and all of the port openings are cut very well and it is very thin.

brown case with black ipad

As asked earlier, doesn't anyone have a pic of the brown case with a black ipad ?

Thanks

Sorry that it isn't the best quality - I just received my iPad and case yesterday. Received several complements on how nice the case looked.

Considering that the speaker grille/holes on the iPad 2 are incredibly tiny, you actually EXPECT that the holes in a case will line up "perfectly?" Seriously?

You'd need mosquito netting to do that.

You obviously failed to understand what I was saying, so I'll make it a little simpler for you.

The cutouts for the speaker look to cover some of the openings for the speaker itself, has anyone noticed a difference in sound quality/volume with and without the case?

Yeah, but it used to be free shipping. Now they've lowered it to 35 and increased shipping to 5 bucks.

Free shipping equals the price of the product plus the cost of shipping believe it or there is no free shipping its just built into the cost of the product.
35 + 5 = 40
40 = 40
Same price as free shipping
If someone sold something for $100 with free shipping and someone sold the same product for $90 with $8 shipping which is cheaper? The free shipping? Nope I hate to inform you its not. Amazon and eBay seller fees are based on sale price by separating the shipping from the sale Mr AYL saves money on fees since they do not charge fees on shipping revenue, can you blame him? that gives him more US dollars to take from America and send home thus making them the soon to be richest country in the world. And real American businesses will be extinct sooner. But who cares

Has anyone tried to put leather conditioner on their yoobao yet? I have some boot conditioner that im thinking of trying out on it.

I did, I have some leather conditioner that smells like leather. Not sure if it helped, seems like it might have tended to seal in the smell and oils that were on it, I have aired it for 3 days. Smell is still there, but much less. I keep rubbing it with cloths to remove the oils, I will recondition it after it drys out some more.

I'm approaching the 24 hour mark for letting my case breathe, and feel like I'll be able to put my iPad in it soon. I'm going to try some Febreeze on it...

I'm happy to report the Febreeze worked almost instantly! :)

Actually I used Glade Tough Odor Solutions for fabric and air (we have two small dogs ) which is very similar to Febreeze. It didn't stain the interior, and neutralized the toxic-ish odor right away! Now just letting the case dry for a bit before I put my iPad in it.

My case has been breathing for past 4 days - the smell is still there. My Ipad 2 just arrived today. I need a quick solution to smell situation.

Truthfully, if the smell doesn't fully go away, I'll cut my losses and stick it on eBay for cheap. I read this article about toxic leather from China and it's already got me concerned - and I'm not a paranoid person. Those Portenza cases are starting to look good (though backordered).

As I originally stated in my video for this case, coming out of the box it did not have an overbearing smell but I did notice a slight slippery feel on the case.

Last night I grabbed my bottle of Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Conditioner and Cleaner (found at any auto store) and applied it to the case, wiped it dry and repeated 2x's and let it sit overnight.

After doing this all traces of smell are gone (smells like leather cleaner now, which will go away) and the greasy/slippery feel on the case is gone.

As with any cleaner/conditioner you want to test a corner first. I did notice some red rub off (my case is red) as I was applying it but the case looks fine. To compare I have seen this happen (rub off) when I clean my leather seats as well.

Got mine last Monday. Let it breath for about three days, then put my IPad in it. It's not a bad case at all, but the odor issue is a deal breaker. The smell is still very bad. Took my IPad out. I'm waiting on Portenzo and Treegloo covers anyway. This was just a way to get something quick to use while waiting. Hope that it works out for everyone trying various ways to get rid of the odor. Don't think you should have to go to such lengths. Unfortunately, in this instance, a case which was rushed to the marketplace has a fatal flaw.

AYL now has smart gloves on sale to go with the cases. Lmao

odor...

I decided to "take a risk" and ordered the RED Yoobao case. I couldn't justify spending $70 on a Treegloo case (with upgrades that I would want) when it mostly stays home AND I wanted something form-fitting. I was also considering the Radtech case but didn't like those "clips" on the front. As long as I can tolerate the smell, I think I will love it. Fingers crossed. I hope you won't have to tell me "I told you so!"

Would never do such a thing. We're all looking for a case we like which is functional. Good luck to ya.

I got my case on Monday and now, Friday, the smell is almost completely gone unless I put my nose right on it. I'm going to put a nice coat of leather conditioner on it and warm it with a blow dryer and let it sit overnight to really finish it off. I'm 100% satisfied with this case.

Umm, what are you going on about? Someone said amazon price was lowered, and I was just pointing out that it wasn't cheaper because there is now a shipping cost. Anyways...
