Just wanted to check something, the Version 2 case does not have magnets correct? Because I'm almost 100% mine does not, or they are extremely tiny and do nothing.

i know exactly what you are talking about. version 1 had 3 very strong magnets that were visible through the leather (which made it look pretty cheap). version 2 has VERY weak/small magnets somewhere (they are so weak that i can't even figure out where they are). when i hold the case upside down, the front opens up, but at most other angles, it'll stay closed. my guess is yoobao was scared that buyers would be scared off by strong magnets? i do wish it was just a little stronger though

Got my case. It's a little stinky but it's also new so hopefully it will go away. Actually it looks a little used, there are already creases in the folding points. I got mine from dplxy.

can you pm me your ebay id?
they are all brand new tho :(

i am definitely interested in this case, but i dont want to order just yet because some of the possible changes seem really good. and would hate to get on just for a revision (the color of the stitching to change) to happen.

but definitely following this thread.

actually joined the forums for this post. i've been browsing ever since i placed my ipad order

Quick Review

After using my case all day, I am pretty pleased with it. Given that it was only $40, which included shipping, so it was honestly more like $30. Compared to what else is available, I believe that this is probably the best folio-type option for the price.

Yes, you could spend $50-$100 more and have a much "nicer" looking case, but it seems like those cases even have drawbacks at this point. The Yoobao case will certainly hold me over for awhile, and presents a great option for when I need a professional looking case at work.

I really do not believe there are magnets in the V2 case. Maybe I'm wrong, but you definitely can't feel them, and they do not hold the flap down. That being said, the flap stays down pretty well on its own so far, so this has not really been an issue. Also, I know people have mentioned the open edges being an issue, but they actually seem pretty well protected. The edges of the case extend out enough to block most things you may bump up against. As I mentioned before, the white stitching does not look nearly as bad as I thought it was going to.

Overall Rating: B...which is pretty solid. Maybe an A- given what's available at this time, and the price.

Yoobao Version #2 and Waterfield Exo Case

So, unless or until the Quirky Cloak comes out, I have rested with the combination of the Yoobao Version #2 with the Waterfield Exo case. Not perfect, just a solution for now, for me. I use a MiFi card so I use the Exo case to carry it around. It fits, not exactly perfectly, but it slides in and the top closes. The Yoobao for me is a nice compromise. The Apple case is great, in my opinion, but I do like the feel of leather. The Yoobao is heavy, but that is the trade off for leather, I guess. It isn't up to the fine quality of Sena, Piel Frama or Vaja, but it is far less expensive ($40 from dplxy on eBay, great seller also). The typing stand is better on the Yoobao than the Apple, a bit higher angle. I don't care about the magnet issue on version #2 and the flap works fine to hold in the ipad. I love Waterfield products and the hook on the sides for straps and the pocket in the back allows me to carry the MiFi without losing it because my Mifi came with a plastic case and carbiner. So, unless you want to spend big bucks on a "finer" made leather case (which I completely understand), the Yoobao is a nice compromise for me.

Yes and the smell is pretty strong. The case just felt "broken in". I expected it to be more stiff than it was.

every case looks like that
and they are all brand new,not used
i can guarantee that
i got your message from eBay
loos like you got the new batch
the new batch doesn't really have the weird smell it had before

edit:sent you an msg on ebay

Yes , I just got one from the new batch too.

They all have that crease for folding

As far as odor goes , mine is fine. Can't smell anything unless you hold it up to your nose and then it smells like leather.

Also yes they do have magnets ! They are small and weak but I don't view that as a bad thing. If I turn mine upside down slowly , it's not till it passes the 45 degree range till the flap comes open. How would it stay closed till then if there weren't any magnets ?

Odd, I'm watching w4mks review of V2 again and you can definitely see magnets there.

The magnets in my V2 case are definitely noticeable, you can see small round bulges in the leather. But that doesn't bother me at all.

there must be variations then. because my v1 had clear magnets visible. my v2 does not, and it is a very weak magnet

I agree, I remember seeing them in his review, as well. This actually had me worried at first, but it appears there may be some variation. I don't mind though, the flap stays down pretty well and there are no magnet marks on the edges. Honestly, like i've said, i do not believe there are any magnets in my case. I've felt around and nothing is there.

EDIT: Ok, after closer inspection, there ARE magnets there. If you hover the flap over the edge of the case it does somewhat clamp down. It is definitely different than w4mks case, however.

I got mine from dplxy today, just a couple of days after i ordered. From Cali to LI that quick is pretty good, but not as good as the great responsivess and service i got from dplxy. Hands down the best ebay seller I've dealt with. Case came well packaged, the is only a slight smell if you hold it up to your nose. Overall im very happy compared to the apple case. Definitely recommend.

Good man! You were a smart seller to capitalize on these cases when you did. Glad to hear you did well yourself!

I don't have one to try, but is anyone using their Yoobao WITH a protective hugger-style iPad case as well? Like, say, the Vue? Is there enough room in the Yoobao to accomodate both?
