Yup, something like that....I know there are dozens of models similar to that one.

Too bad, would have been an easy fix for the exposed edges.

anyone has seen on sale this other design from yoobao?

Has anyone seen any updated info on this case? I love the look of it and would like to find out what's up with it.

Looks like the Macally bookstand but possibly with leather corners? If so I might give this one a try. I really like the bookstand design but not Macally's plastic corner tabs. Wouldn't mind the cover flap being a tad thicker as well.

Where can I buy the "Yoobao Executive Black Leather Case Folio Book" (sic)?

Yeah, me too! (or make that "me eleven" ;) )
-- dplxy -- can you inquire with Yoobao for us? I'm assuming that since it appears at the alibaba link above, it really is available.....?

I have been unhappily delaying to just go ahead & order the Noreve Tradition Leather folio case, because I really want the "rails" style of holding the iPad in (instead of covering up the bezel with more leather).

http://www.noreve.com/brand/Apple/product/Housse_cuir_Apple_iPad_Tradition.html

I've done a lot of searching online -- so far, the only other folio-style cases I've seen that have something like Noreve's rails are the SGP Vintage (which doesn't function as a typing stand) and the XgearLive Folio, which I kinda like except for the ugly pattern on the exterior. I want to give this as a gift for a dear friend in the UK, & would much rather send something leather than the carbon fiber Xgear folio.

http://www.xgearlive.com/products/for-ipad/folio-carbon-fiber/folio

I've also seen some really great stuff on the website of this company called "Ozaki" -- in particular a case called the "iCoat," in addition to *many* other wonderful designs. Very sad that I don't see any way to buy any of their items in the US:

http://www.ozaki.us/en/2010/icoatnotebook/

The other concern I have about the Noreve case is from previous comments in another thread, regarding its ability to stand up for watching videos. I got the impression that the Noreve case is a bit unstable when standing up -- is that true, Noreve owners? If you feel it is actually quite sturdy in all positions, I might go ahead and order it....unless I can find a way to buy the "Yoobao Executive Black Leather Case Folio Book".

Thanks A LOT !!

Ahh............thanks for the quick update..

I can see why they would not be 100% confident about the design of the Executive case, since it is shown with just 4 little clips at the corners to hold the iPad in place. But it's fantastic that they are so open to input from customers -- I do have a suggestion that you could forward to them, so hopefully the iPad would be more secure: see my reply to your next post.

Hey dplxy -- I didn't actually notice that the "Executive" case design included a magnet -- but I'm very glad you mentioned it, since it seems that now's the perfect time to give Yoobao some feedback about this. I have seen several comments in MacRumors threads from iPad owners of other cases, who have definitely experienced magnetic interference with their iPads' compass function. So I am in favor of your idea to *totally remove* any & all magnets from the Yoobao Executive case.

I currently own the Apple folio case, and don't mind one bit that it has no latch or strap to keep the cover from flopping open. In fact, I actually like it very much that I can just flip the iPad gently open (and also closed) when I'm in a hurry to display some medical images ;) (ya know doctors, they really don't have time for latches & all that stuff!)

So my 2 suggestions are:
1. no latch necessary --
2. To address the issue of the iPad falling out of the corner clips, why not simply make the clips longer? This is currently done in the Noreve case, and also in Ozaki's "iCoat" iPad case.
See the attached photo (= the Noreve iPad case) and the link below to Ozaki's webpage for their iCoat case:

http://www.ozaki.us/en/2010/icoatnotebook/gallery.htm

I have no idea if making this modification to Yoobao's case would raise legal/patent infringement issues, but I kinda doubt it, since both Noreve and Ozaki are doing similar things with their designs. I am not an attorney, howevah... just an eager customer!

;)

An OK idea, I think -- although I have not been considering the V2 case , so have less opinions about it (I prefer the unreleased V3 design, since it leaves the entire face of the iPad exposed, instead of covering it with leather).

I'll write some more tomorrow about securing the iPad in the case, without straps....

Thanks again -

dplxy,

Thanks for all of your hard work on this! I for one would love a case without any magnets for the reasons discussed. In fact, I purchased a v1 and carefully took the magnets out. I would buy a v2 without hesitation if it did not have any magnets. Frankly, I don't think it needs a strap either.

Thanks again!

In my version of the V2 case, you cannot even tell the magnets are there. I doubt they would interfere with any of the iPad's functions.

Dplxy,
I am in for a v2 in brown when you can get them they are exactly what i want. Please let us know when you get them in stock. :D

if they made one with strap as prototype

i will post a picture here and let you guys decide :D

Got my case in today and left you positive feedback. The smell on the case is a little strong but I'm assuming it will eventually go away like what happens with most other leather products. Even with the smell the case is definitely worth the $40 I paid for it.
