You know you're on an iPhone when...

Your apps and phone crash all the dang time.

I've used an iPhone off and on since the iPhone 4 was released on Verizon. I've always loved the build quality. Now, I know this forum is filled with Apple fanboys and I'm expecting to get flamed, and I'm OK with that. I have many Apple products, and will continue to buy them. But after using Note 4 for nearly the last year, switching back to the 6S Plus(64gb) I'm frustrated to see the same issues I have seen on single iPhone I've owned. Apps randomly close while you're using them and you're returned to the home screen. Phone quick reboots or whatever during use and you get the Apple on black screen briefly then you're dumped back to the home screen. I set this phone up as a new phone, no data restored. I was just trying to listen to beats one and the app crashed, then the phone. Yesterday I was checking email and mail crashed and I was returned to my home screen. I have fewer issues on this iPhone than previous ones but it's still disappointing to see the same old issues. I'm sure people will try to say I have a hardware problem, it's user error, or whatever but considering I've had the same problems on every iPhone since the 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6, and now 6S, that's doubtful. The 3D Touch is neat, though.

Just a rant. I feel slightly better now.

If what you are saying true then I think you are the most unluckiest person on 50 miles radius of your residence. All the iPhone's models crash for you? That's mind boggling.

Have you tried a clean install, rather than restoring from a back-up? With past iPhones, this solved most of my problems. I have had 6s since launch day and not had any crashes of apps or iOS that I have noticed. My old 5 rarely had problems once I did clean install.

Op already installed clean, I don't think op has iPhone issue looks like his wife beat him with her long heel sandals and now he's ranting here with help of iPhone to release his frustration.

I used the M8 for 6-7 months prior to getting the 6 plus and rarely had any app crashes on it either. Very stable. I honestly love both platforms - I'm not trying to troll here, I really like the 6S plus so far. I'm just frustrated that every iPhone I've owned has been unstable.

How often does the iPhone crashes?

Did you read my post? I used a Note 4 for close to a year. I had maybe 2-3 app crashes during that time. I've had the 6S since the 25th since I preordered and I've had multiple quick reboots or whatever you would call the phone flashing to a black screen with Apple logo and immediately returning to the home screen. Oh wait, nobody else will admit to ever seeing that on here. I'm using my phone wrong. But I've seen this on every iPhone I have owned. It feels like I'm back home again! lol

Sorry, but I call BS!

I too had a Note 4 and Note 3 before that and the issue with apps crashing was rampant. I've had one corporate app crash on my new iPhone 6S Plus in the last week, which I found out our corporate app hasn't been updated for iOS9 yet. I've never experience a reboot yet.

So, now lets talk about the Note 4, which I had to clear the app and partition cache regularly on it order to prevent it from lagging it's ass off. Then there is the well known and well documented issue of streaming music to head units which stutter and skip. I could go on, but I'll leave it there.

So again I call BS!

Go ahead, call BS. No worries here. Note 4 with Nova Launcher has been the best phone I've used.

Yes, I used Nova Launcher on my Note 4, but that didn't stop the issues I've stated which are all verified on the Google support web site. Not to mention the ram management issue! So, if you think that's the best phone you've used, then great! I can't say it's the best phone I've used and I am glad to be rid of it!

I am so grateful to be able to take trips now in my car without having to deal with the the well known and documented bluetooth streaming issues of the Note 4. iPhone streams perfectly via Bluetooth and connects automatically very quickly. Love that!

I won't say the Note 4 is a horrible phone, but I surely can't replicate the issues you claim on the iPhone and it doesn't sound like many others in this thread can either. So this is why I call BS.

Cool. Glad to see your Apple fanboy is hanging low.

Does it really pain you that much to hear that I had no issues with it but I do have issues with my iPhone? Is it really so hard to believe that while your iPhone is 100% perfect I have had trouble with mine?

Nice try DAWG, I love it how when someone disagrees with you guys they are automatically an Apple fanboy. Grow up!

The iPhone is far from 100% perfect, but certainly meets my daily needs much better than the Note 4 did. I certainly don't like everything about the iPhone, but I've not experience crashing on every iPhone I've owned, no more than I have had all the issues on every Android that I've had with the Note 4.

Very creative.. "Dawg." lol. This isn't anything to disagree or agree with. Simple fact, my Note 4 was good. Yours wasn't. My iPhone has problems. Yours doesn't. Or should I take your route and say I call BS "dawg," since I am having issues you have to be too! Grow up. lol

The problem is that you've said every iPhone you've had has had these same issues, again I call BS. I don't believe you and now it seems you are only here to toot your horn about your great experience with the Note 4. Hey if that is your experience then fine. The issues I've had with Note 4 are very well documented on Google's support portal. iPhones aren't perfect, but apps crashing, phone rebooting and this has happened on every iPhone you've had. Yeah Right! I'll give you the last word because now you have to defend this nonsense.

Nope, I had great experiences on my M8 as well. Other Androids I had sucked hard. I believe you had problems with your Note. Why wouldn't I? Why the heck would I sit and toot my horn over a last model year phone? I'm not trying to sell it. It doesn't benefit me. Again, I've had problems with every iPhone. Whether you believe it or not makes no difference to me at all.

You know you're on an iPhone when everything is locked down and third party accessories don't work as they do on other platforms. Like the Pebble Watch, on iPhone all you can do is answer or decline calls, receive texts and other notifications, and control music. On Android, you can do all of the above plus answer texts and emails. It's one reason why I won't go back to the iPhone unless I also invest in the Apple Watch...but at this point I enjoy my Pebble Smart Watch (4-5 day battery life, waterproof, durable as heck) too much to give it up.

iPhone is typically buttery smooth and reliable, though.

ETA: I have a Note 4 as well, initially I had tons of issues, then I did a factory reset and changed launchers. The thing runs flawlessly now, no more problems, and I enjoy it way more than my iPhone 6+. Been over a week and no problems yet.

You are using it wrong! No seriously, YOU are doing something very odd if you are able to cause instability in "4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6, and now 6S" and therefore at least iOS 6, 7, 8, and 9! My family has owned 8 iOS devices since the 3GS, and they have been rock-solid throughout their lives. You need to reconsider your denial and think carefully about what you are doing in an abnormal way to cause such instability to your device.

Before you go ahead an declare me a fanboy understand that I also have managed 50 or more additional iOS devices at work that have been essentially handed to users with minimal training. Even these inexperienced users have never reported what you are experiencing.

The only time I've had a problem with my iPhone itself crashing is when I was using a third party charger, and it would crash when I was using the phone with it plugged into the charger (back in the 30 pin days). I'm a lot more careful about what I plug into these days (safer charging, people!).

Maybe the OP is one of those weird people who builds up electrical charge, and the phone just reacts badly? If I were having that experience, I'd kick my iPhone to the curb too.

Clearly every iPhone I have used including the replacements have been defective then, since they've all experienced the same issues.
Don't know/ don't care.
Either that or you are trolling or just have a broken app causing all of your iPhones behave that way.

I've had a few app crashes in the week since I've owned my iPhone 6S, but nothing out of the ordinary compared to what I experienced in a typical week on my Nexus 5.

There had been a few apps in the past that did crash quite often. Some of them got better with updates. Others I simply stopped using them. So perhaps your experience was related to your collection of apps.

Out of all the iPhone's I owned in my household (orig, 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6, 6S), only one 5S shows the random reboots not tied to specific apps. Apple replaced it immediately when I raised the issue to them at Apple Store.

Therefore I strongly believe that your experience was not typical to iPhone users in general.

Of course there is no reason for you to make this up. Did you try to restore iPhones as new, and then WITHOUT installing any app, just try using the phone in factory conditions for a few days and see if it still have crashing issues. This may help you isolate the problematic app(s).
Great advice.
But I think he's not seeking solutions....

It sounds to me that you are not really interested in figuring out why you are having so much problems with you iPhones, while others aren't.

Instead, you are here merely to make a statement that you prefer Note 5 than 6S.
This...
I clearly misunderstood your intention, and naively offered advices to help you with the issue. My bad.
Many of us did the same error.
Hmmm. So why did you start this thread? Also, why did you pick a title like "You know you're on an iPhone..." which is essentially a massive generalization?

It's difficult to believe this thread is anything but flame bait. Everyone has different experiences, but the way you started this thread seems to be for a very specific purpose in mind....
Now I absolutely think you are right.
Probably 4-5 times since the 25th.
And, again, you have either a defective unit or a broken app...
Go ahead, call BS. No worries here. Note 4 with Nova Launcher has been the best phone I've used.
This post tells me a lot about your thread, dude

Spend less time responding to this thread and more time either on the phone with or in store with a genius to figure out this issue. No. I'm not saying that to be rude. You've said you've had this issue for days. You've been told it's abnormal. Give apple a chance to fix this. We can't help more then we already have.

I'm not going to call you a liar or question your motives, like some here have. I had a terrible time with the iPhone 6 Plus myself and even some of the people in this thread claimed I was full of it. I eventually just sucked it up and dealt with it for s year. But seriously. You have three choices. Let Apple fix it. Stay here and complain (and deal with a crsppy phone experience). Return it. I tried step one with the 6 plus. I was stupid not to just return it. Very happy with my 6s plus though especially after starting to lose faith.

OP should (if he's genuinely interested in curing issues that is) set up the phone as a new phone and not load ANY additional apps.

Literally just use it as if there was no App Store.

I bet a £ to a pinch of **** that there's no issues during the "no extra apps" period.

Which supports when I said way back in this thread that this being caused by something that OP is loading and not telling us.

Do that OP, use it as a new/stock iPhone, without loading one single app from the App Store.

That's assuming you do actually want to isolate, identify and fix the issues you are describing and are not just one of those attention seekers that's never happy unless they're unhappy...
