Unless you were a 1st time buyer with the S9. Then your bands lasted 1 year.
I have probably ... 50+ bands? Eek.
Yes, but watches (and bands) are an established fashion accessory in our society. People change them based on activity, occasion, or even just coordination with clothes, so it’s common to have multiple (bands in this case). This is something Apple knew getting into the watch business, which is why they made the swappable band mechanism and why they market an array of first party designs. Whereas almost all people stick to one phone case if any at all.Unlike a phone case which is a separate purchase, you already get to choose the band of your liking when you buy the watch so it's not like they are forcing you to buy additional bands.
If they use a larger battery it will only come to the most expensive models. So the majority of people won’t profit from it. Vance they price being way to high for what you receive. If this would make it possible to fit a larger battery and maybe even a redesign of the AppleWatch in general then it would be a welcome change.
Meanwhile, others are appreciating the vastly increased functionality of modern Smartwatches over an old piece of jewelry that no one will care about after Generation Analog will be gone.
True, an original band can still be attached to the latest generation without any issues. Let’s see if the same will be true for Pixel Watches down the road.If fall 2024 introduces a new mechanism, that means bands will have lasted 9.5 years (since early 2015). That seems fair to me.
You know if he ever got it replaced because of battery life? Because a S0 8/9 years later is impressive. My friend is still rocking the series 0 OG Apple Watch. Can’t wait for the redesign!!
typical apple move
Yeah same with the 30 pin to lightning and now to USB C… so unnecessaryTypical Apple
ill buy a few from ya....bought the official APPLE solo loop midnight and it snapped and they won't replace it because it snapped in the middle and not at the ends where they say its common : (
got a black solo loop (the rubber one)??
I prefer official apple because I think I heard if you use 3rd party and something happens and you weren't using apple band, then you're not covered?....
The EU won’t care about this, like, that would actually be ridiculous. Sorry to disappoint. At this point I’m amazed that they didn’t charge people for both parts individually. Knowing Apple they’d spin it with a fancy marketing story on how it reduces a carbon footprint etc. And earn even more profit.
So much for less “e-waste” although it’s not e-waste itself.
Also, the EU will now come up with the demand of some mandatory universal clip for the bands in the future. This oughtta be fun.
They will definitely design the watch to be smart band capable, it’s fascinating they didn’t already release a watch with that capability already considering the current connections would be more than capable. But I guess it makes sense to leave that for the next real redesign, this way they were able to keep the chassis mostly the same without integrating even more micro techMakes sense. There is room to innovate in the band. Ability to swap bands quicker would be popular. There might be options for smart bands too.
Well folks, my Rolex I bought in 1966 can have any band still being made today for that design. The difference is that the Rolex still works and does its primary function of displaying time in two time zones along with the date. I doubt any Apple Watch would still be operational in over 50 years let alone 10.
The Apple Watch is, in reality, fad jewelry and disposable when the next fad comes along.
They are not forcing you to buy more though. The selection of band designs allows you to choose the best band when you buy your watch, not necessarily to force you to buy more than one. If that were the case, Apple would be selling watches with a default plain black or white band instead of giving you the option to choose the band when checking out.Yes, but watches (and bands) are an established fashion accessory in our society.
