+ Full screen apps and swiping between them. When it works (without lag), it's a great feature.

MissionControl could be good, but at the moment its poor compared to SL. No customisation of positioning of desktops and the inability to set certain applications to launch in certain desktops appears to be a big oversight.

I tend to use quicklook for images, photoshop brushes etc.
Quick Look is good for looking at files one at a time, and notice above I mentioned that it now right sizes the dimensions. I've wanted that all along. But I use pinch to zoom in Finder more as an on the fly proof sheet.

It's definitely the new Finder for me. I love how the columns view can be segmented by the file type so each file type is clearly in its own distinctive partition in the column. Love that. I also like the squarish buttons over the ovals, just looks nicer altogether.

Oh gosh... I don't think I can pick just one :)

The combination between full screen apps, Launchpad and Mission control just made my mac experience a WHOLE lot better. I used to not have my Dock hidden, but now it's GONE! Don't really need it for much anymore.
I'm running Safari in full screen and swiping between screens for the rest of the stuff. Pretty awesome stuff!

  • Full Screen Apps
  • Swiping between Spaces
  • Smooth Zooming in Safari
  • Windows restoring after reboot

Reading this thread made me realize that lion isn't so bad. I upgraded last night and was really disappointed, especially with the fact that you can't lay out all your windows all at once (space + expose) but given the fact that the applications run in fullscreen and then a simple swipe switches from app to app fullscreen, the transition is a little easier. Wish they fix the 2 finger swipe (left and right) to go between pages back and forward.

Gah, it's hard to choose. I LOVE full screen apps, particularly iTunes and Safari. I also really like Mission Control. :D

Once Mission Control is properly setup... it's actually quite nice. Full screen apps are really nice in conjunction with spaces/mission control when flicking between spaces, kind of like on iPad if you have the developer gestures turned on...

Believe it or not, I actually like the monochrome icons... i think they look more sophisticated than the color ones. I am sure I am the only one that feels that way..

I can't believe nobodies mentioned it but Quicklook in Stacks, i thought this was a huge oversight in SL and would have upgraded to Lion for that alone.

Oh and those little tear-offs in iCal, amazing.:D

EDIT: And i just realised you can change wallpaper for each desktop, never even thought of trying it before.

I didn't even know about Quicklook in Stacks until you mentioned it here. That is a pretty nice feature that I really never thought of honestly. Thanks for the tip.

no

i did install Lion on my Imac now but i just about tolerate it.

things i like :
- the new finder. good job

things i hate :
- Mission control : i want my spaces in a grid, and be able to drag windows between spaces! ML is a big fail.
- launchpad : who actually wants 600 applications in a grid anyway ?

So i'll be sticking with SL on my MBP. It seems it's mostly newbies who like ML because they never knew about spaces before.

I still can't understand why people get so up in arms about Launchpad. Just don't use it! I removed the icon from my dock and turned off the gesture - I haven't given it a second thought since!

Don't use launchpad...that simple how can you hate something you are never forced to use? Also, how can you complain about 600 applications in a grid in launchpad, but not complain about 600 applications in a grid in finder? Its the same thing, except you can organize it better and it is laid out better...

As for mission control, you can still move windows between desktops...click and drag them!

You CAN define which apps open in which desktop. Just open the app in the desktop you want, right-click the dock icon and go to "Options -> This Desktop".

Full screen apps since I can switch from my desktop to full-Screen iTunes, Mail, and iCal, it's awesome! I also like Launch Pad since it cleaned up my Dock.

Could you elaborate on 'Speed increase' please? Which bits of the OS are faster? Still on Snow Leopard here.

For me the whole OS just seems a lot quicker to use

on SL i used to get the beachball thing quite a bit, only seen that happen once so far is lion, but that was a complete hang in pages

a few app do take a little longer to open (lightroom, photoshop), couple more bounces, but then when loaded work fine

certainly no slower than running SL

Thank you Paul. Always nice to hear of speed improvements.

Safari now supports tab history when re-opening a closed tab, which is AWESOME!
