1 star for the ugly design. And how ironic it is for Android fan boys to complain about Apple's app when Google has been arrogantly ignoring iOS design guideline.
I got the new look this morning, before I actually installed the update. The assets must have been hidden inside the previous update. That's strange. I've had the new Youtube app for a few weeks now. Can't remember exactly when it auto downloaded to my phone, but certainly a while before the new iPhones came out as its on my iPhone 6.
I wonder if it's being deployed staggered across different countries (I'm in the UK)?
I remember thinking at the time it was much harder to navigate and the UI was/is confusing and ugly.
Am I the only one who has been using this update for at least a month now, maybe two? How is this new news??? I've been hating this change for a while lol. Although not long ago my app reverted back to an older version and I was happy. Same thing happened on my iPad too. Did this happen to anyone else? Were they testing it on certain users or something?? I'm very confused.
It may be more cohesive, even if I don't personally think so, this is still really poor design. The top bar on iPad takes up 15% of the screen when it needed 5%. That's just poor design. In my humble opinion, material design is much more pleasing and cohesive than the mess Sir I've has made of iOS.
Typical. Stay on topic.
Very odd. There's really no change in the iPad app... only iPhone. Unless I'm missing something.. There's not even landscape view especially for the 6 Plus.
This is probably related to why many of us were getting the update before it updated. There is something really funky going on here. What's more odd is that I upgraded my iPhone 6s Plus YouTube app and it still looks the same as the prior version. Not a single drop of red. I went back to the App Store to make sure it was updated and it is. I still have PIP and everything is as it were before. My app has a new icon. But that's it!
Can someone explain what the hell is going on???
Anyone who's followed the development of the IOS app over the years surely didn't ever really expect them to support PiP... They don't even do that on Android, where it's equally possible (the Twitch app for Android does it, for example). It would require switching away from their custom video player widget to use Apple's standard player, and they just don't want to do that.I dislike the design but even putting that aside. No support for PiP, no support for SlideOver/Side-by-Side and burying playlists and favourites even deeper are all sins I cannot forgive.
Add that it lacks support for all new iOS 9 features and it's rather a silly release. Add none of the features users are asking for and make the design worse. Yeah, that's a 1 star rating in the making.
The same with me! I was using the app, everything was fine and then after a few minutes I came back, and the app was all different.I haven't updated and I got the new design. I actually got the new design before the update showed in the store so I'm thinking its server side.
