I think that I read that these companies make way more money on advertising based viewers anyway so they can continue squeezing people who do pay because honestly they want you to watch ads. They make a ton of money on people watching ads and therefore they could make this $25 a month and probably still wish you were watching ads instead.

Doesn't work on the TV, which is where 90% of our household YouTube is watched. Still don't pay for it.

Sadly true. My dad refuses to even make a YouTube account, let alone pay for premium, so he gets to sit through Every. Single. Ad.

I used to use TV apps to watch YouTube at night before sleep, but the ads got so bad that I put together a cheap computer just to watch via Brave.

If YouTube (Alphabet/Google) wants more money, they should just introduce a cheap plan that does nothing but remove ads with no other features. Make it cheap enough that people will buy it, like $2.99/month, and then they can also save the development costs they spend trying to fight ad blockers back and forth too.

Prices are bloody ridiculous, I use sharingful so I get to split a family plan with random people. So I'm paying £4.60 a month for a premium plan which is far more reasonable, been using that method for a year without issues. But with Google being the dicks that they are, they'll will probably put a stop to that eventually as well.

I used to use the VPN method to hop around the world, but I got fed up of being blocked after a short time, plus it's getting harder to find a working country these days.

Of course I can block them with extensions and I still use those browser extensions, but I can't use those on the Apple TV or the native YT app.

Which website did you use to find randoms to split with?

Watching videos is ad free. IMHO this is the best plan, particularly if you have Apple one bundle with music already.

Non-shorts non-music videos.

Everything else?

Not sure if you noticed the part in bold:
With this plan, ads are still shown on music videos, YouTube Shorts, and when you search or browse
Edit- oh I see, it means the ads on the side of the page. I thought it meant ads in videos you watch from searching or browsing.

YouTube has gotten to be virtually unwatchable when using the Apple app on an iPad, as the number and length of unskippable ads is getting worse. I will not be extorted, as I watch more and more using other methods. In the long run, I will probably move away from YouTube altogether. I hope greed kills them and other streaming services off in the long run.

Those are ads in the interface, not in videos. The majority of videos - outside of music and Shorts - don’t have ads.

I’m not sure why people or how people get so confused about the Premium Lite tier or act like it’s a scam. It’s really not very complicated and it’s a good deal.

YouTube Premium offers ad-free videos, the ability to play videos in the background without having the YouTube app visible, the ability to download videos for offline playback

I highly recommend ad-blockers and YT downloader apps. Some will argue this is detrimental to YouTube creators and I will argue that it hurts the overproduced content farms and AI video farms even more. Those channels are about clicks and profit no matter what. For true creators and the true entertainers there's a lot more to be gained from producing good videos than the pennies YouTube pays out. Hence why most so many videos are sponsored and why creators are always pointing out how they accept donations through Patreon.
