YouTube Premium Receives a Price Increase

They did, it’s called Premium Lite. It’s not exactly what you described, but it’s as close as it will ever get.

I understand where you’re coming from, and f*** corporate greed. But those 2.99 and 5.99 prices were never sustainable. How many hours of bandwidth & (most importantly) creator revenue do you think 2.99 every 30 days is gonna cover, realistically?

I watch YouTube on my AppleTV, iMac, iPhone and iPad. I´m paying for YouTube Premium (I really hate those ads).

Even Premium Lite doesn't even get rid of all ads, and certain features from Premium is just gone, like queuing and HQ Video. 👀

They really wants us to loath them, making every product they have worser and worser.

Tell me there is a great solution to get ad-free videos on those devices using som kind of ad-blocker that is cheaper and not a hassle.

Less than the price of a coffee to watch unlimited video for an entire month.

Hilarious and bizarre takes in here, as usual. Why not argue that it should cost $1 a month and really see how far you can push the absurdity?

Wow, how did you hang on to that? I was a Google play music beta tester, but never subscribed to the DSP.

They kept my YT Red grandfathered price until roughly a year or so ago, and then I went for a family plan. That’s dope though.

Oh yeah, it only gets rid of most ads. If you don’t watch Shorts or listen to music much it functionally gets rids of almost all YT ads in videos.

Wow, what a scam. In reality it’s a great tier that gets rid of almost all ads which is what most people want.
 
Been using YouTube Premium Lite now for some time, and I'm really happy with it. Well I was. Last week they even enabled background streaming of videos (not music though, but that's fine), and enabled local downloads and offline playback. I thought, that's cool new features. Way to go YouTube. But it was just to because they probably wanted to consolidate the code lines for all the versions, and save costs.
Had they just asked me to pay an extra $1 a month to get those features, I probably would have. Now probably will have to cancel.
 
YouTube is bs these days! It is about as bad as Comcast was a few years ago now with it's content being slop AI or non-AI these days as you would to PAY ME to watch most of the crap on YouTube these days outside of interstate videos and video game long plays to test just how good the service is using a x16 speed playback mod for future cpu gpu and internet cable/wifi mobile internet ISP speed packages to mimic the old 1980s VCR but I digress....

And DO YOU get me started own how the YouTube video recommendations on the side of the PC window always loves to spam you with videos from other accounts I opened up to help separate my YouTube videos I watch like categorizing my flies by type and genre and year as that damn algorithm says HA GOTCHA and gives all the bs from my OG account that is laced all my dark side responses.

If you have a way to play commercial free than keep on. But if not, it's worth every penny (it was, still might be). I had no idea how much better YT is without all those commercials. It wasn't too back when they first started them as pre-rolls that could be skipped. But then the mid rolls, and then more of them, and then the post-rolls which should be illegal, as they break the I'm paying you with attention, and you play video in return. A post roll is stealing from me as I give attention and YT gives nothing back.

Yes, most. Most as in most! Most of all the videos on the platform and ALL of the largest type of video on the platform.

Normal videos that aren’t Shorts or music won’t have ads. Good lord, why is this apparently so hard to understand?

I watch YT on my Windows gaming laptop and there are ways to watch it without commercials without being a premium member.

I stopped paying for cable TV years ago. It was $100 a month which was $1,200 a year. With ads!

So with the money I saved on that... I don't have a problem paying $160 a year for Youtube Premium, which is ad-free, and I get a full music streaming service included too.

I've heard people say Youtube Premium is the last service they'd cancel. Well add me to the list!

I don't know what they mean by "search or browse," because I have Premium Lite, and the only time ads show up are on music videos/videos that are purely music tracks, which I'm not watching anyway.
