And with a dozen different apps to boot.

Apple needs to add the media searching feature/API that tvOS has to iOS. If I can search across iTunes, Hulu, NetFlix, HBO, etc. on my Apple TV, why not on iOS which has those same apps?
They do, its called spotlight in-app search and its up to the developer to implement it. HBO already has.

Why not doing it on a per use basis?
I'd love YouTube/Spotify/... Without ads but I don't believe wither service would make $10/month off me with ads.

I'd love to give them my CC if charges are fair (probably close to $1-2/month based on my usage)

I was thinking more about Siri, though. Unless it's supposed to do that and it doesn't for me for some reason.

I think there's more than one way to skin that cat... without the monthly fees.

With Adblock it doesn't give you access to Google Play Music which is a competitor to Apple Music but available on iOS & Android.

So for 9.99 you get Ad Free Video AND a Full Streaming Music Service.

It's a no brainer.

Not really. I can keep my current Apple Music subscirption and block all ads from every website with Adblock+. That's a no brainier.

Yes it would be but, including an Ad Free Video Service, Full Access to Google Play Music and audio play in background makes Apple Music look pretty pitiful now for the same price.

Why should I pay for features that I can get for free with other alternatives? Probably so I can now pay Google to have everything in one place so they can mine more usage data out of me...

Background audio - jailbreak (free)
Google Play Music access - free if you upload your own tracks, if you want free streaming use Spotify
No ads - jailbreak (free)
Saving offline - same as above

I'm sure there are other tweaks on Android that allow the same features for free.

You currently don't have to pay a cent to get all the features (okay, sans streaming, but you can technically get it elsewhere) this subscription service is offering, and everything I listed is legal.

I'm willing to watch some ads to not pay, but I really want to have audio in the background. Kind of dirty to make that a paid feature but I guess that's how it is.

You can punk anything you want and get an inferior user experience.

You forgot using your cassette tape to record AM radio. If you're going to go white trash go all the way.

This is great!!! First Google charges the client to display the ad, then Google charges the user to get rid of them.

HOLY-GUACAMOLE-BATMAN!

Not recruiting just correcting ignorant statements that this service isn't worth it when the article doesn't explain what is actually being offered.

YouTube Red > Apple Music

It definitely does.

From the article:

Google has also bundled a Play Music subscription into YouTube Red on iOS and Android, providing access to both services for a combined $9.99 or $12.99 monthly payment. YouTube Red's unlimited access to both streaming music, videos and more makes it an attractive competitor alongside rivals like Apple Music and Spotify.

-----------

Bottom line: it's still not worth it.

I stand corrected.
Then most commenters don't know a bargain when they see it.

Bottom Line. If you are an Apple Music subscriber it is a no brainer to switch to YouTube Red.

More value for the dollar, cross platform and most importantly a better user experience.

I would love an ad-free YouTube subscription, if it were closer to $1.99 per month. One wonders what the economics of the situation are. I can't imagine YouTube (and it's associated content creators) are making $9.99 per month off of me as it stands...

I feel as if I'm being "threatened" with ads, rather than being offered an equitable opt-out. "Pay this inflated price or you'll have to spend part of your life watching Colgate commercials!"
the top ten yt people are making more $ yearly than top paid actors, its ridiculous pawpaw wtver he is called on yt made 12 million
