A "tax" for iOS? Seriously Google that is so thinly veiled. I don't use Youtube directly now, and certainly won't even think of using it in the future. Plus your app for the ATV is horrible and I hid it a long time ago. Does the app use flash too. lol.
Why should I pay for features that I can get for free with other alternatives? Probably so I can now pay Google to have everything in one place so they can mine more usage data out of me...
Background audio - jailbreak (free)
Google Play Music access - free if you upload your own tracks, if you want free streaming use Spotify
No ads - jailbreak (free)
Saving offline - same as above
I'm sure there are other tweaks on Android that allow the same features for free.
You currently don't have to pay a cent to get all the features (okay, sans streaming, but you can technically get it elsewhere) this subscription service is offering, and everything I listed is legal.
With Adblock it doesn't give you access to Google Play Music which is a competitor to Apple Music but available on iOS & Android.
So for 9.99 you get Ad Free Video AND a Full Streaming Music Service.
It's a no brainer.
Is the rudeness required? Yes I read the article and I don't think you get my point, but I won't be rude about it.Did you even read the article? It's more expensive on iOS because of Apple's in-app purchase tax.
I didn't see the music was included. Now my interest is peaked.
Can I pay with Google Play credits I wonder?
the top ten yt people are making more $ yearly than top paid actors, its ridiculous pawpaw wtver he is called on yt made 12 million
Way too much for sure, but whatever, that is where the bubble is at in this decade, if you can break that bubble you are set. Advertising agencies pay way too much these days, I guess they do their math to make sure is feasible though.Yeah I was reading up on how much money these youtubers make, it's insane.
Just one more thing to subscribe to and pay monthly? Pass. All these subscriptions are going to start adding up to more than a cable bill.
Not worth it to some. More than worth it to others. I've been on All Access for a while and like it a lot. Both mobile and web apps are top notch. My daughter (iPhone 6) is tied to my account so I can keep an eye on what she does and no purchases can be done without my knowledge. The mobile option of listening to the song or watching the video version from within the All Access app is pretty cool.It definitely does.
From the article:
Google has also bundled a Play Music subscription into YouTube Red on iOS and Android, providing access to both services for a combined $9.99 or $12.99 monthly payment. YouTube Red's unlimited access to both streaming music, videos and more makes it an attractive competitor alongside rivals like Apple Music and Spotify.
-----------
Bottom line: it's still not worth it.
Interesting that Google is passing the Apple tax to the consumer on iOS. Does Spotify and others do this?
$10 per month? Are they crazy? Are they promising any original content?
The sad part is, they are going to up the ante on ads to get you to switch.

Yes it would be but, including an Ad Free Video Service, Full Access to Google Play Music and audio play in background makes Apple Music look pretty pitiful now for the same price.
