my zum arrived today, its excellent and well worth the money
Has anybody experienced cracking in the corners of their ZUM??? I have a pink one and hubby has the frosted, and both have developed cracks. We have never removed the backs since they arrived last August and I can't imagine what is causing this. Neither one of our iPads has ever been dropped, nor are they ever placed in any kind of case or purse.
We love this back. It is the best but this is not a good development. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Oh no!
I was hoping the ZUM is not prone to cracking. I had the Belkin Snap Shield which cracked after a couple of months.
Perhaps those people who's ZUM is still perfect do not take their cases off to clean?
here we go again with 5 people posting they are cracking, and all of a sudden they all are....hogwash!!! - I have two 8 months old, used every day and no cracks, and I suspect about 10,000 others do too. But 5 posts here and it's an epidemic!
Does the ZUM affect the smart cover's performance at all? I was hoping the smart cover would operate flawlessly with the ZUM but wanted to double check.
Any of you ZUM owners have a skin on the back of their iPad?
Can anyone answer this for me?
it will work with a thin film skin - i run an icarbons and it works fine....
ok, cause i have full body "ghost armor" on my iPad and it gives my incase magnet back a hard time; thats why i was wondering.
Will see how it goes as I wasn't too keen on not being able to remove the smartcover.
you bought the zum and are upset the cover does not come off? - that's the main reason you buy the zum!

I'm now on my second zum and if there is any weak point to it , it's the small retainer tabs above and below hinge on that side. They break off. The hinge still anchors that side, but watch it if you take it on and off a lot...
Will see how it goes as I wasn't too keen on not being able to remove the smartcover.
That, of course, is the price you pay for a design like the Zum. Since the SmartCover cannot be removed without removing the (back) case, it's well designed for those who want to keep the SmartCover in place almost all the time. Less so for those who want to remove the SmartCover periodically.

agreed...but it's a bit disconcerting...the current case has not been off more than 3 times in 3 months...
Well here is some irony for you. I started this post as a "I love my ZUM"...however as I flipped my iPad over I noticed that the case is cracking on the bottom corners.
No droppage or mishandling whatsoever, and no exterior films installed either. Really bummed I have to deal with a replacement so early on.
EDIT: Also wanted to add that since the initial install, I have not removed the cover so its not like I wore it out by excessive removal.
I have referred at least 20 colleagues to get the zum cases. So far, only one of my colleague's case was cracked. They emailed the customer service and get the replacement right away. The second one was good.
I have used mine for more than 4 months. It still like new. Very happy about the case : )
