It's being sold right now, but it's not here until mid July. The only folks that have a Nexus 7 are Google I/o attendees. My point was that it's a brand new feature. Siri has had time to mature. About a year.

I'm under the impression that Google's Voice search will iterate much faster than the snail's pace of iOS development. Just sayin..

Providing a video to "prove" something that can easily be replicated in 2 seconds by anyone with a computer doesn't make sense. It is a well known function that Siri can do Google Searches, I'm not really sure what you're expecting here.

I am expecting you to prove that Siri can do ALL those things in the same timely manner that you said it could.
 
It's not a video, but here's a simple search I just did. I searched "how old is dustin pedroia" on Google (something Google Now can do) and got this.

Siri does the same thing you just gotta say "google how old is dustin pedroia" and she opens Safari with your search.

Siri....when i used Siri on my sisters phone, it didnt even understand half the things you asked her and said the wrong things back to you that you asked, and why she doesnt care for it.

Nice that Google is blatantly ripping off Siri now. LMAO! :D

I thought it was just a cheap gimmick...until "S Voice" or whatever the copycat of the week feature is called now. I guess "Google Now" is the new one...

S Voice is terrible from what I've seen. Looks to be painfully slow at times.

it's what happens when you can't debate the features, and quibbling over trivial stuff.

and you're wrong, it's not 'officially' out yet. It was handed out during developers conference. It's out when you see these in retail stores.

s voice sucks.

secondly, voice dictation + AI is a very old feature. it goes way back before google/apple.

smh at ignorants.

notice how Apple isn't going after Google over this? exactly. (although i bet they wish they could)

Google has always had voice search. Siri was just an App in Apples App store before they used it in the 4S.

Stop making excuses. It's not gonna change drastically in two weeks. A near final version is officially released by Google.

iOS has had dictation apps as well. Vlingo has been on the App Store since 2008, before Android was even released.
 
I haven't read all of the posts here but my reply to OP...

This is not a big surprise. Each year as the iPhone launch draw nigh, people start speculating about lots of things. People who are tired of waiting start saying, "Ok, look at this phone! Wait, look at this phone. No, this phone is better!" Then, when Apple releases the new iPhone, millions flock to be the first to get one.

I predict the same this year!
 
two way completely different experiences. On one, I can say "google, how old is dustin pedroia" and be told within two seconds that he is 28 years old within a second or two, all without looking at my phone.

On Siri, she brings up a web page.

Also, there are things you can ask google now that will receive much more specific answers on google now over google search. (why, i don't know).

How is something 'nearly official' ? That makes 0 sense. When it's official, it's official. There is no just thing of 'nearly official.' Which further proves my point. It's not 'officially' out yet. Once JB OTA's to the Google Nexus family, consider that 'official.'

And I would NOT be surprised if changes are being made in the first two weeks.

I'm having a blast with Google's new voice search functionality. Too bad Siri is stuck with antiquated voice dictation (it sounds like a low grade robot compared to Google's)

Vlingo. 3rd party app. irrelevant. And it's not up to snuff compared to Google Voice dictation.

What's so antiquated about Siri? You're failing to explain. Having fun? All the thing does is glorify a Google Search and pop search results in fancy cards. You're not doing anything new.

Vlingo is completely relevant. The point is iPhones had voice dictation / voice search BEFORE Android was even released / announced in the form of Vlingo.

Like what? All Google Now does grab the answer from a google search and displai it in a box.

Siri voice sounds like crap compared to Google's. This is no question. Unless you're going to say, Siri's voice is better. Then everyone will laugh at you.

Vlingo is NOT an Apple product. It's a 3rd party app. What do you not understand about this? This doesn't mean Apple owns Vlingo.

Secondly, voice dictation has been around for decades. Please. Let's not insinuate now that Google is copying voice dictation from Apple.

You seem to be the only one who cares what it sounds like. I never mentioned what either voice sounded like so I'm not sure where you're pulling that from.

No one ever said Apple owns Vlingo. I was merely stating how there was a voice dictation app before Android as everyone seems to think Android had voice dictation / search first. I never said Google was copying Apple. You're just putting words into my mouth.

Fair enough,

I like both ecosystems.

I like the jailbreak community of iOS on the one hand, but I dislike the lack of features on iOS. Mainly, Navigation (iOS6), and multitasking. Those are two really sour points for me on iOS up to this point.

On the flip side, I like the industrial design/hardware of Apple's tablet's and phones coupled with it's powerful GPU.

The selection of apps from iOS is definitely superior to Android's to a certain extent. Especially app selection, particularly tablets. But afaik Apple owns the tablet market, and rightfully so. Google really needs to work on having more tablet friendly apps. I do prefer Android as my primary smartphone device, and tablet's designated to Apple with it's high quality hardware (particularly display). I think this is a good combo for many folks.
