You bring up a very good point actually. As much as the cell phone has evolved in terms of basically being a computer in our pockets, people (not everyone) have become so reliant on it and in some ways it is a detriment. For example..instead of remembering phone numbers, directions etc. we now rely solely on our smartphones to do everything for us. Again, I'm not saying everyone but it is a fact of life in the world we live in now. In the streets how many people do you see walking with their heads down oblivious to their surroundings. When I was a kid I was constantly outside playing with friends and socializing. A lot of kids (adults also) today are glued to their phones and the interaction is just not there anymore like it used to be. Can't imagine what it's going to be like 20 years from now.

Yeah. There are far too many people who have smart phones and don't need them. I work in IT and geniunely use my smart phone for real work. There are so many young college and high school students who only have a smartphone because they 'needed' an iphone.

My sentiments exactly. I realize that it's none of my business, but I sometimes find the sight of people absorbed in their devices on the street, in their cars, etc. slightly annoying, if not depressing. As for 20 years from now, I will be (mercifully) spared that.

How true! We went to a Science Museum not too long ago. Every teenager/young adult had a phone in their hands, and weren't paying any attention to the displays, or what was going on. Waste of $$ really...

I've yet to buy a phone, and have it "Change my life". I prefer to spend my downtime with the family, golfing, or exercising.

You are a troll with far too much time on his hands. Why don't you take your detective work to the CIA kid

You've been exposed for the hypocrite that you are. The same disdain that you allegedly have for Apple and iOS and the iPhone is exactly the stance you were taking in April except at that time your hatred and critism was aimed at Android. You love to point out what is wrong with Apple and iOS now and you did the exact same thing with Android months ago.

It's pathetic. You are pathetic. And now of course your comeback is that we should have better things to do. Maybe you should take a second and realize what a fool you are and how exposed you are. Fragmentation was a huge issue with Android as you repeatedly boasted just months ago and now iOS is the flawed OS. Get a clue man.

IF ANYBODY IS A TROLL ON THIS FORUM IT IS YOU. END OF STORY.

amen!

fyi, iOS suffers from fragmentation too. Not saying that Android doesn't have it's issues. They have a worst problem. Only 10.9% of Android devices are on ICS. And that OS came out almost 8 months ago.

Why I'm staying on Android. Google Now and it's enhanced voice search capabilities.

It's not as oppressive as Android. The numbers released yesterday show only 11 percent of Android users are on 4.x.

Edit: Beat me on the stats.

yeah it's definitely an issue for Google, and they're working on it. The PDK is a good step forward for Handset manufacturers.

There you go again with the navigation arguement. DO you really think anyone is taking you seriously when you say iOS is better with navigation. Theres also much better support for codecs on android for videos and audio so that one is won by android as well.

This has been discussed many times, and is not relevant to this thread. If you'd like to repeat our prior debates, please do so in the appropriate thread. Otherwise I'd just be copying -> pasting the same points over and over.

Seems like you already do that.

wait, you think iOS 6 navigation is better than Google Navigation? talk about corporate fanboyism...

Touchwiz features extensive hardware acceleration and Samsung does some unique buffering on the UI to reduce shearing and lag. It works far better than HTC's Sense rendering. Touchwiz has a faint hint of input lag, but the rendering itself is the best in the android world.

This I why I think people are on drugs when they root and instill some turd no name bootleg ROM on their Galaxy S2 or S3. Touchwiz is what makes those phones run as nice as they do. We installed Jelly Bean on a GNEX last night and the UI rendering is still inferior to Touchwiz.

Though the rendering and overall UI responsiveness still goes to the iPhone. Especially the 4S which has hardware the well exceeds the demands of iOS.

FYI there are videos on YouTube showing the galaxy nexus obliterating the galaxy s3 in terms of smoothness and speed. Side by side comparisons.

Clearly whatever Google has done with project butter is superior to what Samsung has done with touchwiz.

Hopefully we (touchwiz users) will still reap the benefits of pb when the jb update is released.

No, I made an explanation of how I debate iOS and Android by naming apps in specific categories, like Photography, video, audio, navigation...etc

Never said that. Since my whole argument was referring to naming apps in specific categories, I'm not sure where you got that from.

It is without a doubt coming to the S3. Right now as we speak Google/Sammy software engineers are probably coordinating for a JB S3 release hopefully by start of fall. <-- a guess.

YouTube: video

Siri isn't good because it can process static commands, we've had things like that for years, Siri is good because of the artificial intelligence it uses. The problem with this new Google Now search, is it's still just dictating to a Google text search, which can be replicated by anyone. I used Siri to do a Google Search for each one of the examples posted above, and got the exact same result.

I'm not sure how these tests would go, because I'm not familiar with the new Google Now, but how about saying things like:

"Remind me when I get to my Dad's to call Mom and let her know I arrived."

"When is my next meeting with Scott?"

"Am I free tomorrow at 11am?"

"Wake me up in 8 hours"

"Move my 3pm meeting to 4:30"

"Reschedule my appointment with Dr. manning to next Monday at 9am"

"Tell my girlfriend I'll be 10 minutes late"

"Remind me when I leave, to pick up milk"

"Did my girlfriend send me an email today?"

"Show me my last email from my Mom"

"Is my son still at school?"

It's Siri's intelligence that sets it apart from just dictating the words into a Google search. Does the new Google Now have these capabilities?

Yea, I just watched the Verge review on it, and it doesn't seem to be able to handle any of those advanced commands, looks like its just Google Search dictation.

In the video with the 40-something questions, the guy only asks for information. He doesn't do any productive things move events around, create events, etc. Sure it's nice to know when such and such movie was produced, but that's what makes it gimmicky.
