I just ordered a white iPhone, because I've seen here that the white isn't backordered, and my local AT&T store confirmed it when they told me that they're averaging 2 days for the white. :D I have to order through them, or I would have gotten an 8g, but I'm good with the white too. :apple:!

Yeah, I ordered the white one after a week of waiting for my 8gig. I ordered the white on Monday and went an picked it up today. It's in my hot little hands as we speak.

I was debating between the white and black for a while, and had finally convinced myself that I didn't need a 16gig hard drive, especially since I don't plan to use the iPod portion of the iPhone for much of anything. And then it became apparent that the white was coming faster, so I talked myself into getting the white so that I could leave Verizon before my next billing cycle. ;) Any rationale to get the thing into these hot little hands works for me.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not planning on using it as an iPod either, so I opted for the 8 GB even though orders for the white 16 have shipped after my order. Oh well.

I congratulate you on your restraint. Seriously. All of mine was used up in the last year when I didn't get the original iPhone. This time, I just about burst, so I couldn't hold myself back. :eek:
 
I'm extremely disappointed with ATT for doing this to us..

like seriously wtf, every apple store around in oklahoma/texas has iphones and we [att] freaking dont have any? Is it really that difficult to give us our phones? I'm VERY tempting to go to an apple store tomorrow morning..


but on the other hand, the wait makes me crave the iphone even more:D

I remember reading something about Apple getting an extra $100 for every phone activated through their stores. I can't help but wonder if they're purposely being stingy with AT&T store shipments for this very reason.

That would make sense, but why would AT&T agree to that without also stipulating how many would go to each?

I do wonder, though, since none of the AT&T stores in my area have gotten any shipments for over a week, and all of the :apple: stores are getting shipments daily. :rolleyes: Plus, the AT&T store manager told me that it would probably be into August before they got any in. They're selling via DF only.

I didn't get the 1st iPhone because I'm currently with T-Mobile so I don't have any prior experience frustration. I used up all of my anger with T-Mobile trying to get out of an early cancellation fee so I could get this one. I'm too tired to get angry anymore.:)

Ordered at 7-8pm on 7/12. I was one of the last two orders left from the first Saturday.

They are going out sloooooowly. Go to an Apple store if you can. :apple:

I definitely would have if Apple could've actually sold it to me. It's stupid that an authorized user can't get a phone unless they're the primary number. And only one number, as far as I know, can be the primary number.

That means I'd have to drag my wife with me to the line. Not going to happen. So here I wait. Apple, if only the front of the white iPhone had been white too (and I could have actually seen the white one in person as there weren't any at AT&T and I left the Apple Store ASAP to find an AT&T store) I might have an iPhone already. Oh well, at least when I finally get mine I'll have 16GB instead of 8! :) And at least I didn't have to stand in line.
 
Yay so I finally got my device and it was well worth the wait for an iPhone virgin like myself!

I'm really impressed (seriously) by the posts that admonish patience.
Not being a patient person... I'm personally highly annoyed that I listened to an ATT sales person tell me 5ish days when I ordered a 16g black on the 17th.:cool:

I'm in the same boat; ordered around 8:00pm or so on Sat the 12th. I am kind of pissed in FedEx that my iPhone was apparently sitting in Ft. Worth from 6am-4pm not moving up here to MD. W/e, as long as it's in my hands 24 hours from now, I'll be alright. I'm still gonna put on the passive aggressive attitude when I go in to pick it up. Despite being on a business plan, I still better get some kind of compensation for having to wait longer than what the stupid sales rep said. Had he said that I would have to wait more than 10 days I would be better; making false promises, especially when you're not fully educated in the situation, is a huge NO!
 
Finally!!

:D I am happy to say that my phone finally shipped. It shipped this morning at 3:25a.m. & will be here tomorrow by 3:00p.m. ;)

FYI: I ordered on the 14th @ 7:25p.m.
 
My 16GB 3G iphone in black still shows the 0 in the back ordered column this morning which is a good sign i think, however i noticed some people talking about fed ex and overnight deliveries to the AT&T stores my receipt shows economy freight as shipping would i have had a choice in how it gets shipped?

I wasn't given a choice. I hope mine gets sent overnight too. :D

In all fairness, AT&T has no control over how many phones they are shipped. This is Apples fault.

My only beef with AT&T is that you can't get a straight answer from them. And their online CSR are eve more rude!!!
I was forwarded to a "Management Escalation Team Member" to handle my account personally. I guess the first CSR was offended by my reply to her, which by the way was not nasty.
 
Yeah I see your point...so the feature on the att site doesn't work, now what are you guys using to check up on this shiz?
 
Ordered a 16gb black on 8/15. I was told 7-10 days and today would be the 9th. I am unable to check my status on the page, and have tried every phone number / zip code option. It wouldn't be cancelled, would it?

You can't track orders by order number anymore, likely to stop people from mining for all the orders around them to get a queue number.

I think you can check by order number now? There are additional menu options on the status website. Does this mean we can check our spot again?
