No, changing the region didn't help.
I made screenshots for both working video and not working video console messages

OK, let's give it another shot, I'm only guessing since I don't know how the internals of SMTube work, I even switched
my interface language to Italiano but for me it works , try these steps

Close all apps.

Can you open Applications/Utilities/Console.

On the left-hand side , under Log Database Queries, select All Messages.
On the toolbar, click on "Clear Display"

Next start up SMTube, search Empire of the Sun High and Low and click on it to start loading it in Coreplayer.
If it fails, Force Quit Coreplayer , and close SMTube.

Now go back to Console , there should be plenty of messages

Click File , Save a copy as (make sure it shows All Messages) ,save it and attach it here

Last but not least , go to /Applications/Utilities/Terminal

Type ls -ltr ~/.config/smplayer/ , paste the output here and
type ls -ltr ~/.config/smtube/ and paste the output here

Dronecatcher , could you please also perform these last 2 steps in Terminal after watching the "Empire of the Sun High and Low" video, your configuration works so I would like to double-check versus mine.

Give me 30 minutes and I'll try. It is not the only video which won't load, I have the same problem with "Adventure of a Lifetime" from Coldplay

result to command smtube
Code:
ls -ltr ~/.config/smtube/
total 32
-rw-r--r-- 1 Pasquale staff 322 28 Mar 12:33 sig.ini
-rw-r--r-- 1 Pasquale staff 2725 28 Mar 22:17 smtube2.ini
-rw-r--r-- 1 Pasquale staff 5174 28 Mar 22:17 cookies.ini

the command for smplayer gave me "No such file or directory"

No directory for smplayer, for smtube:

total 24
-rw-r--r-- 1 Home staff 322 28 Mar 14:41 sig.ini
-rw-r--r-- 1 Home staff 2729 28 Mar 21:42 smtube2.ini
-rw-r--r-- 1 Home staff 2881 28 Mar 21:42 cookies.ini

Console log attached.

This does seem to echo the problem when I was using version 16 of SMTube - some videos played but others didn't.
I've noticed that Youtube has recently broken NinjaKit/Viewtube script and ClickToPlugin - maybe there's a connection there and it's a regional rollout (if there is such a thing!)?

I'm pretty clueless, compared pochopsp logs to mine and the order of parameters is different.
I tried using his URL and changing his IP adres to mine but that doesn't work,Coreplayer gives an error message.

pochopsp do you get a popup window in Coreplayer with an error ?

I had ~/.config/smplayer directory but that is because I compiled smplayer also before starting with smtube , since Dronecatcher doesn't have this directory we can rule out that this is the difference.

Looking at Dronecatcher logfiles they have the same structure as pochopsp so that can't be the difference neither.

pochopsp , last wild guess before I head off to bed , can you try with ticking the smtube, Settings, General, Download videos using an external service ?

I tried this also and for me it works with it being enabled and disabled but indeed maybe Youtube is playing weird tricks with Italy and pretty soon we will have to wait for SMTube 17.2 ?

no popup window with an error. It just keeps loading forever. I've tried with "download videos using an external source ì" too, no luck! Don't worry anyway, it is the same the best way to watch Youtube on my MDD G4, only a few videos won't load (for me) :)

There's still WebKit. ;)

For some reason Pasquale's told me YouTube videos work crazy good in WebKit. They work OK for me, but not great. Especially not great on my G4s.

Anyway, getting off topic. :D

I don't know how, but now every video works!

Still don't get why this method has not the deserved popularity

Agreed. People complain about YouView or MacTubes not working, but not only does this work, it's better because we can play the videos using CorePlayer which will play high-res video on low-spec Macs. :) 720p on my G4 is great!

Thx Guys for this Workaround - it works pretty well on my Powerbook. Brings my Powerbook to new Life.
720p runs pretty well with CorePlayer, but sometimes i got some frame-drops, artifacts... i remember, that this desn´t happend before. Are there any hints for CorePlayer Settings? maybe i done something wrong? Especially in Advanced-Settings, Video-Settings?

thx a lot!

Just installed it.
I´m impressed!

I was using until now my intel MBP for watching Youtube videos as it sits right next to my G5 desktop but thats beat it!
Is there a way i can log into my youtube account ?

I tried just now using the Signin icon but doesn't look like SMTube is a full browser so the redirect doesn't seem to work

I've just installed the new hassle-free version of SMtube on my new 12" Powerbook, however I found that a lot of videos were broken - so I've compiled SMtube again from the latest version, 17.5.
It's attached here for those who don't want to compile themselves - @Lastic feel free to update your first post with the file (after you've checked it works ok)

Thanks @Dronecatcher , newer version is always better, you browse a lot more Youtube videos than I do so your testing will be a lot
more thorough, I will adapt my first post.
