A little more than half of respondents in a recent survey said they would be willing to pay at least $10 per month for unlimited access to Apple Intelligence.

In an online survey conducted in February and March, investment firm Morgan Stanley asked thousands of consumers in the U.S. to indicate the maximum amount of money per month that they would be willing to spend for unlimited access to Apple Intelligence. Approximately 1,400 of the 3,300 respondents were current iPhone owners, including 450 owners of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models that are compatible with Apple Intelligence.

The breakdown was as follows:
  • $15 or more per month: 22%
  • $10 to $14.99 per month: 30%
  • $5 to $9.99 per month: 17%
  • Less than $5 per month: 11%
  • Not willing to pay: 14%
  • Don't know/too early to tell: 6%
Morgan Stanley analysts shared the survey results today in an Apple-focused equity research note, obtained by MacRumors. It said the survey's total sample represents the general population in the U.S. in terms of age, gender, and region.

The rollout of Apple Intelligence features has not gone smoothly so far. Apple was hit with class action lawsuits in the U.S. and Canada over its delayed personalized Siri features, and the company recently complied with the National Advertising Division's recommendation to remove "available now" wording from the Apple Intelligence web page. Apple also had to disable notification summaries for news apps after some of the summaries generated false information, and it has yet to re-enable the feature.

Even with Apple Intelligence getting off to a rocky start, this survey suggests that many customers would still be willing to pay for access to the features. However, it is unclear if Apple will ever charge for any of the features.

Those 1-2 are definitely multimillionaires driving Maybachs as daily drivers.

I'm one of this who won't pay. Every service wants money these days from streaming services to apple to even Samsung. I pay enough for my cellphone and internet service. I quit paying for TV 5-6 years ago. I have no streaming services and only pay Apple $.99 for the storage thing. I'm trying to keep my money. Gas prices are going up over the last two weeks and I drive for a living.

I call BS. You couldn’t pay me to use Apple I at the moment. Stupid emojis and pictures shouldn’t be called AI and the writing and photo tools are meh. Have I missed anything?
Apple is so bad at the basic stuff that Cook has neglected like spell checking that there is no way I would trust Apple Intelligence. Heck, even search refuses to find stuff I know exists on my drive. Mail rules continuously fail to get applied. Xcode get so confused that clearing the caches, derived data folder, and restarting happen multiple times per day. And I could go on.

It is really a farce that Apple thinks it can do intelligence without first fixing the basics.

Why doesn't Mac Rumors do its own survey to see if its own, somewhat biased, member base can get even close to those numbers?

Do any of them know what Apple Intelligence actually is? Or are they just basing their answer on something that “sounds cool”?
It would be greater except for the people not knowing what it is, yet claiming to disabling it on their phones because it sounds cool on forums.

I LOVE the summaries for text messages and emails. All the processing happens on the device. So what exactly would I be paying for? I'd definitely pass.

I don't pay extra to use Safari, Music, Calendar, etc.

This just in 1 in 2 people are insane.

Or the survey is completely bogus ;-)

I doubt that 50% of Apple customers can even explain what features are included as part of Apple Intelligence. And am I very sure that most of the “US consumers” who took part in the survey have no clue about it (most of them aren’t even Apple customers and Apple Intelligence feature are very scattered across iOS, iPadOS and macOS). With this in mind how would they know how much they are wiling to pay for it?

Spot on. They should make it a subscription, so everybody else can use that sweet, sweet RAM for something useful. Also, could somebody tell them that AI also needs a moderate amount of SSD-space?
Then they'll just lock the RAM at point of purchase somehow lol

I will accept it as an inclusion to Apple one, but id rather put my money in SuperGrok or GBT Plus subscriptions. No way will I pay for Apple Intelligence.

Perhaps I don’t know what Apple Intelligence is, but the on-device proofreading is a huge time saver and an improvement over spell and grammar check. And I suppose if time is money, it’s possibly worth at least 10$.

The type of work I do doesn’t benefit from the on device summary and rewrite but I have tested them, and it’s not hard to imagine they’d be valuable to others.

Another way of looking at it is to say, Apple Intelligence is perceived as a value added to those people, even if it’s not a viable stand alone product.

So they asked two people and one of them said they would pay?
Which two people did they ask?
