1 year later and the iPhone 4 is still better than all Android phones

It's all in the details.

People who can't comprehend that Android behavior is laggy usually don't even have a perception or appreciation for such things.

iPhones are phones for artists. Don't pretend to understand or try to compete. Just know you can't. No Android phone will ever be better until the whole design principle is scrapped and re-built from the ground up to cater to the right brain too, not just the left.

No Android phone is fundamentally in the same league.

This kind of crap is just too much. The elitist, condescending attitude that just oozes from people that need to feel "special" is definitely well served by Apple. I bet you also buy $120 Monster HDMI cables and $600 speaker wires. To cater to the right brain.

Well, he doesn't travel to China, so I suspect that's not an option. Checking things here stateside, they're more $$$ USD than an unlocked iPhone.

He did all those things; in the end, it's just not a great phone. Not saying iPhone is THE best. But in this case, it is better than the Arc. I take something that works out of the box, vs. something that needs to be fiddled with all the time...

CLAP CLAP I WIN!

The Arc is cheaper than the iphone in Canada

When was there any mention of wires?

Huge difference between devices that we use constantly all day and wires we never see.

Nice higher end MBP, by the way.

You forgot 300 dollar beats:D

Thats your opinion that you believe that its only a matter of opinion. I am of the opinion that most people are not as educated as I am and I don't see everyone as my equal. Therefore I don't speak from the perspective that it is my opinion, but rather the opinion of the enlightened people and a general reasonable truth. You can choose to hear or not hear my voice. Now again, thats MY opinion.

 elitist is an understatement for this lady

I would describe the choppiness in the Android scrolling as:

iPhone 4 = 1080P

SGS2 = 720P

SGS1 = 480P

You guys are almost there tho!

KEEP PUSHING!!

i don't understand, the SGS2 records and plays back 1080p while the iphone4 doesn't :p

OH yay! a breakdown!

Fun isn't it?

Yes, it appears you are.

Awesome.

Thats your opinion that you believe that its only a matter of opinion. I am of the opinion that most people are not as educated as I am and I don't see everyone as my equal. Ooh, fancy.

Come again?

You got me good there.

Yay!

Implementing hardware does not equal the end result of answering the question: is it as smooth?

Quite frankly I dont care WHAT they did. In the end did they succeed? Not quite.

You asked the question then answered it yourself. Why?

And had you not added that little 'not quite' bit at the end I would have said that yes, they have succeeded at making it smooth. Hence that little jab at the Sensation.

I saw the video.

You must be seeing different videos then, because all the ones I've seen show the GSII flying through web tests.

Several people on here have stated that videos aren't a fact and that we shouldn't be comparing devices based on YouTube videos which are probably edited by Samsung themselves. You appear to be different- that's pretty cool.

I have seen a variety of SG2 videos, I know what I was looking for it and I saw it over and over again in every video. Choppiness.

Looking so hard that you started seeing things, eh?

No but I saw the video.

See above.

Thank You.

No problem sir.

GS2 vs iPhone 5 then.

We shall see then.

Then LYAO!

Still going to stick to 'my opinion = fact' then?

As for the closed grid comment:

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." -Leonardo da Vinci

"Simplicity is the height of professionalism" - Steve Jobs

Quoting people doesn't prove anything- doesn't matter if the quotee is Da Vinci or the hobo from the street corner. It doesn't make them nor you right.

I would describe the choppiness in the Android scrolling as:

The iPhone 4 can't even play 1080p videos on its own screen smoothly while the GSII has enough power to push the same clip via MHL to a 1080p TV so that's probably the wrong analogy to use.

See in-line replies.

And that proves...?

Oh it's on youtube? Ok yeah its definitely true then.

My bad.

What are you trying to say? That all the videos on YouTube were posted by Samsung fanboys and that they were all edited?

This kind of crap is just too much. The elitist, condescending attitude that just oozes from people that need to feel "special" is definitely well served by Apple. I bet you also buy $120 Monster HDMI cables and $600 speaker wires. To cater to the right brain.

What he was (probably) trying to say was that the iPhone is for conformists :D

I do know how. I just don't find the need to re-quote the ENTIRE thing. Sorry, don't have the time. Sounds like you do; yay for you...

As you can tell, I feel you're whole rant is opinions. They're like you know what...everyone has one...

What I meant is that you should group together all of your replies into one post rather than double or triple posting. [EDIT: like you did just right now with the reply to walie's post]

Your, my good man, your, not you are. (not my opinion here)

Yes, your opinion about my whole rant being an opinion is perfectly valid. Some bits were not but a large chunk was, yes. Hence my disclaimer.
The difference is that I'm not trying to say that OMG WTF THE GSII IS INFINITELY SMOOTHER THAN THE IPHONE I'VE SEEN VIDEOS AND IT'S DEFINITELY TRUE like *some* on here (the pro-iPhone people) are.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCf0-MQswCo Video of galaxy s2 vs ipad 2 vs iphone 4 galaxy s2 still wins

No no no don't you understand? Videos on YouTube cannot be used as reason or anything. They were definitely edited by Samsung since the iPhone is an artistic phone which cannot be beat.

Becuase THAT, is the question.

I disagree. And I feel my opinion holds more weight.

I vetoed all those opinions with some well-placed sarcasm. A video is afterall a perfect recreation of its subject matter. Choppiness is something that can be seen and reproduced by video evidence, which is what a video is, evidence. If you brought a video to a court of law murdering someone, it would count. (Just like the iPhone murders the SGS2 is smoothness)

So you dare go against one of the most legendary men of the Renaissance?

Yeah but what about the basics like menus and web browsing, can it handle that as well as the iPhone?

(no.)
In the end, my irony is sharper than an ancient sword that is the main focal point of an adventure or epic story.

Thank you for playing.

One year later after I got my iPhone 4, I finally got my Google Music Beta Invite today! Finally as I waited about three weeks for it. And they gave me over 200+ free songs too.

I also have the Amazon Cloud Drive, but it takes forever to load all my songs on there. I am still about halfway there. And I am not willing to spend $25 per year for iCloud. Music Beta seems to have a better interface compared to Amazon's.

This is why I like Google. They might be watching you like Facebook does, but they take care of me too. And for free in most cases. I may move to Android because of Music Beta. But it will like be a Sony Ericsson Xperia Android phone because I want to use Sony's Media Go. Don't like DoubleTwist. iTunes, Zune, and Media Go are all much superior to DoubleTwist.

Just picked up an EVO 3D today for the gf. That phone is pretty awesome. Fast and the 3D pictures rock!

It's almost making me consider switching from my iPhone 4!

yeah I went to play with one today and it was very snappy and smooth. The 3d is definitely a gimmick and I could definitely do without it, but overall it's a very nice device.

OP ... I don't like Android.

Poster_1... That's because you don't understand the raw power of Android.

Poster_2 ... I agree with the OP, I've tried many Android phones and they all felt laggy.

Poster_1 ... I can assure you that you didn't try the best Android phones out there that are loaded with Gingerbread, Icecream, Sweettarts & Snickers.

Poster_3 ... I think iOS is just so much better.

Poster_1 ... Wow, what a Fanboy.

Poster_3 ... I just speaking my personal opinion, no need to be rude.

Poster_1 ... blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Honeycomb blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Customize blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah iPhone is outdated blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Overclock blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Custom roms blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Super Amoled Screen blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Widgets blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah SG2 is god blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

OP .... That's nice and all but I still like iOS better, besides most Android devices have very poor battery life.

Poster_1 ....:mad::mad: SG2 :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: SG2 :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: iPhone will never beat SG2 :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Poster_4 .... Isn't that what they said about the Atrix?

Close the thread, this post wins.

I was actually LOLing at this...

I don't really think you can directly compare an Android and iPhone, but I agree with the iPhone still being a great competitor even after being a year old.

A year-old iPhone 4 with a single-core 1 GHz A4 chip underclocked to 800 MHz is better than 99% Android that includes a 1 GHz dual-core chip? I can agree with that. The only Android phone that can make a case for being better is the Samsung Galaxy S II which happens to be 1.2 GHz dual-core.

I personally don't think Android is the best OS out there. Android phones happens to contain the fastest chips because it is popular. I believe WP7 and webOS are better and more fluid even at 1 GHz single-core or less.

Nexus One, Nexus S, Droid X, Droid X2, Atrix, Evo 4g, Evo 3d, and HTC Sensation are a few off the top of my head (there are others) that one can easily make an argument that it is better. Believe it or not there are some quality phones out there besides the Galaxy S2 and the iphone 4. Yes the iphone 4 is a good phone, but it isn't the end all be all of phones. There are a number of quality phones on the market that are not iphones. To say that there is nothing that even competes with it besides the Galaxy S2 is a bit closed minded.

Actually what is going on is that you are downplaying the merits of the iPhone.

The reason why you feel the need to warp reality? I'm not sure. But dont boast that you are open minded if you are biased.

It is the most common symptom of bias: downplaying the iPhone like its not a game changer.

Anybody who exhibits this tone cannot be taken serious. One has to wonder, what is on his hidden agenda?

First of all I didn't downplay anything. What I stated in response to him was that there are other phones that can compete with the iphone 4 believe it or not. Also since you brought it up, explain to me how the iphone 4 (since that's the phone we were discussing) was a game changer. What did it revolutionize? Like I said in my previous post (which I guess you have selective reading) the iphone 4 is a good phone (remember when I said that...) but I wouldn't call it a game changer. Besides a higher resolution screen and a front facing camera there wasn't a major difference between it and the 3gs (functionally speaking). I think any reasonable person can concede that.

You stated I had changed your ;) to a . I was merely pointing out that you posted a  to begin with.

That wasn't even the point of my post.

Still- it's not really hard to change it and take a screenshot now is it?

I disagree. And I feel my opinion holds more weight [than yours].

You're obviously looking at something else. I am looking at choppiness while you are looking at the amount of time it takes to load a page.

Web test = a complete test of the browser. Peacekeeper shows the Galaxy S II blowing the iPad2's and the iPhone4's pants off. None of those nasty gray boxes I get so much on my iPhone 4s. It renders pages faster. No blue cubes indicating a missing plug-in. Thank you for playing, insert coin to continue.

Mind linking me to one of your choppy-GSII videos? I have looked through quite a few and have not yet seen one of your elusive 'iPhone murdering the SGS2 is smoothness' videos yet.

Just curious- how does the iPhone murder the GSII 'is' smoothness?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA!!!

It's true, then? I can't say I'm surprised.

Not a problem.

Also, let me note that capitalization is important.

Sure thing.

Nope, nothing I don't (note the apostrophe) want to confront. You seem to be avoiding multiple points I brought up, but I digress.

How do you plan on comparing the (as of right now) nonexistent iPhone 5 to the GSII? If you, my dear Watson, can acquire an iPhone 5 right now, let me know at your earliest convenience and we shall set up a competition immediately.

See previous

So the answer is 'yes, I am the king of the world, and my opinion is always correct' then? Grow some balls and say it like a man then.

So you dare go against one of the most legendary men of the Renaissance?

It appears so.

Why, do you not? What do you anticipate will happen? Will he float down/up from wherever he is and smash me on the head with his iPhone?

Yeah but what about the basics like menus and web browsing, can it handle that as well as the iPhone?

(no.)

Well the correct answer is (yes.) but thank you for playing! Insert coin to continue.

In the end, my irony is sharper than an ancient sword that is the main focal point of an adventure or epic story.

Thank you for playing.

I think your irony is comparable to, but not sharper than, the sharpness of an ancient sword.

Yes, indeed.

Just wondering, why do you refuse to admit that Android might be a better choice for some people? See, I don't have a problem admitting that the iPhone might be a better choice for some people.

Is this just the typical iFanboy reaction or...?

A year-old iPhone 4 with a single-core 1 GHz A4 chip underclocked to 800 MHz is better than 99% Android that includes a 1 GHz dual-core chip? I can agree with that. The only Android phone that can make a case for being better is the Samsung Galaxy S II which happens to be 1.2 GHz dual-core.

The Nexus One was already comparable to the smoothness of the (then-available) iPhone 3GS and the (released 6 months later) iPhone 4 by any definition of the word.

Once again: my opinion, not an absolute fact (unlike what Mr Corwen up there thinks his opinion is) & your opinion may be different.

I was going to grab an android phone as an upgrade to one of my lines just so i can say i have an android phone.

I get frustrated with ios every now and then, only because i've been looking at it for 4 years now.

But seriously, i just do not like Android. I like the idea of Android, but its just so half assed. Battery life on every single phone i've seen is just terrible.

The Atrix gets through a whole day of usage. Yeah, with a 1950 Mah battery it does. Put that battery in the Iphone and see how long it lasts.

My buddy has a Nexus S, and thats probably the best one i've used. But still, i cant get over the Corny-ness of the OS.

It feels like Android is going the way of Windows Mobile. They keep throwing UBER hardware at it to make it run decent, but its just a bunk OS. With bunk battery life.

I'd LOVE aphone like the Atrix, with WEB OS on it. Holy Cow that'd be awesome!
