I think 10.2.4 was 43 something and 10.2.3 was 51 something, so 10.2.5 is not so bad, even if it did take around 2 hours for dialup.

600kb is actually very little. Thats less than 10 x 64k modem. 600KB is more than halv a MegaByte. The most I have got with my connection is 1.2 MB/sec (MegaByte).

The apple downloads always goes superfast :) I love them!

Not quite...there is no k, it's only K.

Kb=kilobit
KB=kilobyte
Mb=megabit
MB=megabyte
mb=millibit
mB=millibyte

Things that have occurred to me since the update to 10.2.5:

#1. Minimizing my favorites window to the dock caused a kernel panic.

#2. Trying to connect to a server on the network (Via connect to server...) did in fact cause a kernel panic. *I have been able to reproduce this. It happened while minimizing the connect to server window. Hey, so maybe #1 was a result of this.

3. Boot up is faster. However, what ever application I use first opens quickly but unresponsive for about 15 seconds. I get the spinning wheel of rainbow death!

I am running 10.2.5 on a 350 g4 with 512 mgs of ram. I did not have these problems with 10.2.4. So apple is either trying to make owners of older macs buy new ones by gumming up the system, or there is something wrong with my update. BTW I had not made any third-party system software modifications.

I will install the combo update and let anyone know if that solved my problem.

I might get this now after discovering that it has a fix for the reseting of the time, leaving it at 1970.

My iBook does this, however, i am on version 10.2.1 and its a hefty 89 megs.

I would buy the CD as i don't mind paying but i cannot get it from the Apple Store yet!

Bugger...

After updating and restarting, my clock went back to Dec. 31, 1969, even though this was supposedly fixed in this update (in fact, I didn't have the problem the first time). But a quick reset based on the network time server and now all is well.

audio problems

it still didn't fix a problem with audio: I've got a Griffin iMic, but I'm using it for input only, so the audio output option seems to screw things up:
If I log out and then log back in later, the sound controller keys no more work if I don't reset my sound controller in the sound preferences :p
disturbing.

libssl.so changed ala security update

If you're using SSL for https via libssl.so

BE WARNED!

make a copy of your libssl.so binary found at

/usr/libexec/httpd/

after running the update you will need to rename the new one Apple installs and re-copy the old one back.

This worked for me.

I had this same problem with the last security update.

It may be that you will only need to re-create your ssl.key and ssl.cert files I haven't tried as yet.

Any other thoughts?

How the hell did you do that? Minimizing the connect to server window is impossible on my computer.

Buttons are to gether

I dont know if any one has had this problem (well not realy a problem) I have a 667 Ti and when I upgraded to 10.2.5 it pushed my buttons all together only in iPhoto no other program. iPhoto seams to be running fine. Just to tell you all.

I didn't have a problem with apache, it didnt modify the config file and it started up fine, and I have multiple vhosts, my own compiled versions of php and webdav.

What the *(%^$ is a 'millibit'?!?

My understanding of SI is that 'milli' is 10^-3.

How can one have one onethousanth of a bit (or a byte, for that matter)?!?

Please enlighten me.

Cheers

Has any one else seen this???

Installed on 2 different G4s... Got kernel panics on both. First time I ever had kernel panics and I've been using OS X since 10.0

Ish... let's hope it was just a streak of bad luck.

Oh, I left out a detail... after hitting the connect button a smaller dialog box appears... if you minimizie that window... bam! kernel panic. Does this happen to anybody else? Maybe my network is messed up... but it was working fine before. Don't you think if it can't find the server it should just say something like: Cannot connect to server?

nope it doesn't fix the problem with the ibooks battery and going into sleep at about 80%...dammit!!

I'm not seeing anything about it helping ibook/ PB batteries... but I'm gonna dl it and test now.

ooh, reading the above about the battery makes me not want to try it... but I will anyway cause I'm hooked on upgrades. :D

Apache FIXED!

thanks puffmarvin, that helped.

As for my problems with Apache, they might somehow to be related to Marc Lynage's (sp?) PHP package, WebDAV, and Expat. Marc's page (http://www.entropy.ch) is down, so I'm guessing he might have updated to 10.2.5 and his Apache too is suffering.

I found a suggestion on O'Reilly's website to move the WebDAV AddModule below/after the PHP AddModule, but no dice.

Commenting out the WebDAV Add and LoadModules in httpd.conf fixed it.

I'll add it back later when/if I ever use/need it.

Significant improvement in browsing. No more Server not found DNS errors. I thought it was Safari.

Pretty good update. I'm really looking forward to the next public beta of Safari.

You would think in 2003 something like Apache would have a user friendly interface of configuring stuff.
Checkout a program called webmin. It may be what you're looking for.

:cool:

having done some more looking in to this one I found a reply to a post I placed on MacOSXHints.com here Mac OS X Hints article

There is a final solution for most people in the comments.

Definitely did not do that before. It looks real tacky to me, out of place even.

Who knows...

Actually from what I remember reading from the last time this happened to everyone your custom config is not gone. It's simply archived and placed in a different location. Where? I don't remember you will have to search for it.

You're right, of course, but it's written so often, it must be real. :D How many times have you seen someone write something like "it's huge, it's 180mb"?

Of course, how are they really stored on those really really small transistors? :D (Maybe they're stored in millibits.)
