Personally I'd like an option to turn off the "you're about to open a program" dialog in Safari's download window. Also, Safari won't load any of the "free sites" (IE: free mini macs, free ipod shuffle.com, etc) until after I load them in Firefox.

yeah yeah, disable thats stupid program reminder. It does it for practically any download, even widgets.

1st download of things disappear!?!?

Has anyone noticed downloading stuff (say a dashboard widget or .zip file) disappears? It completes the download via Safari & then its gone. Not on desktop. Download it again, and then it "takes". Its SUPER annoying. Happens on 2 Macs with Tiger.

The new mish mash of GUIs in Tiger is really annoying. The grey pills behind the Mail 2 icons were a new low (although I like many other things about the app). 'Cage Fighter' has helped - thanks for the link.

It looks like 10.4.1 is going to be a big update.

I'm not so sure. It's only a 35MB update. And there is not mention of an update to Spotlight, which as the boards are discussing in high value, has a ton of nasty bugs.

But hope springs eternal.

I love Tiger, but the crazy number of bugs really has me bummed out.

I have been holding back writing a thread about it since I want to be optimistic. But despite all of the new coolness in Tiger, the nasty bugs make me not trust Spotlight and very frustrated with the overall product.

I am worried that the update is only 35MB. I just hope this is a really polished product.

What issues are you having? I've got the v551 and I was able to sync my iCal to it, I didn't sync my contacts though

Mac recognizes the phone through BT set up but iSync option is greyed out. Upon further research it seems Motorola updated the firmware recently and older models work and newer ones don't.

It'd be nice if Word didn't crash every time you tried to print wirelessly through an Airport. Didn't happen before Tiger.

Works fine for me.

i had this problem several months ago, well before tiger...

reinstalling photoshop fixed it.

in any case, it's not tiger specific

I was thinking about trying that. After reading your post I will definately give it a try. Thanks.

.

I haven't been able to do this since 10.3.7 (possibly before) and can't now in 10.3.9 so it isn't a Tiger bug only. I'd reinstall CS but it's not all that big a hassle - yet.

I went through the 10.3.7, 10.3.8, and 10.3.9 updates and didn't have the problem. I will reinstall Photoshop.

Hope 10.4.1 fixes whatever it is that's killing Firefox on my machine... I'm not in the mood for a clean install for another month or so...

I use Firefox like crazy and haven't had any problems at all yet.

Curious about one thing. Those who are having problems...how did you install Tiger?

I chose archive and install. When I get the new Final Cut Pro Suite I am doing an erase and install.

If you guys did an archive and install all you have to do is copy the 'Scripting Additions' folder to 'Library' from 'Previous System'. Adobe documented the problem and the fix here.

Wow. Even better than reinstalling Photoshop. Thanks!

What may be happening is that it is automatically unzipping it and then putting the zip file in the trash.

Have you tried to reinstall the printer? I had some issues right after I installed Tiger, but delete and reinstall fixed it for me.

I tried that but it still won't print to my HP4600 Color Laserjet. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out but it is something I didn't want to deal with really.

I have news! Your tip worked!!! How...why...huh? How could something like the computer name be related to airport connectivity?? Strange. Thanks for the tip...just wanted to let you and others know that this fixes the issue. I too own a PBG4 12'' 1.33 Ghz (and a 40 GB iPod too!).

There's a bug in the D-Link firmware where it can't handle host names greater than 20 characters. It's not a Tiger bug. Maybe Tiger just names computers differently than Panther?

Through bluetooth or USB? I've tried to "discover" my 551 and the bluetooth wizard won't pick it up.

Bluetooth

My phone's version is R47_G_08.17.0FR_01. How do you update the phone's firmware?

There are varying levels of buggery among the Tiger users, and I believe it's the results of how they maintain their computer systems. I have experienced very few bugs, not to be confused with interface quirks, in Tiger since I did do a completely clean install with no third-party hacks to muck the system.

True, I did the same and played with it for 2 days before installing anything else, besides iLife and iWork, but I still encountered some bugs. Oh well, they will be taken care of soon, I hope...

And for widgets, Tiger automatically moves the widget program to the widget folder in your user library.

So its all ready to go the next time you activate dashboard to add a widget.

I doubt that these will ever change, but it bugs me that if I want to slideshow something, I have to do it from right clicking, and I can't do it from the file menu.

Bingo. That's bad UI design (i.e., Windows) when things are undiscoverable except by right-click experimentation. The main menu should always offer all possibilities.

then again Apple never sticks to their conventions (like how some apps close when you hit the red x, others don't

Well, there is a rule behind that one (though I don't know how well it's followed...)

If an app can have any number of windows (such as a browser, or the Finder), then closing the last window doesn't close the app, as zero windows is just another possible number.

If an app can only have one window (such as Calculator), closing the window closes the app. It's an app that can't have two windows, can't have zero -- it's one or it's goodbye.

Good or bad, it is at least a rule (IF developers follow it).

I want:
*user switching with independant screen resolutions
*dock icons to dim when hidden
*dock magnifying glitch when contexual menu is brought up
*safari stability
*FASTER Spotlight searches. I'm on a G5 and i don't see "BOOM"
*Finder resizing/sidebar separator
*Quicktime Divx compatibility
*third party app fixes
*better font smoothing!

I have also noticed some strange and intermitent quirks in Safari that are very annoying. Anyone else come accross such bugs?

I've had very strange behavior of scroll bars in safari. Sometimes the vertical scroll separates into pieces like the mercury in an old thermometer. Today I had a safari window with the horizontal scroll across the center of the window!
