No NEW Finds

Hey all, I have been looking all week for new stuff and have not found anything worth mentioning. I have updated the front page with the stop watch NF and a few apps that are/are not working.

My MMS comes and goes so I do not think that it is ready for beta testing/operation and Apple will make it operational in beta 3 or 4. I refuse to add/change any files like some threads recommend. It will either work or it won't based on the software release...not adding someithing to the iPhone.

As far as the "Signature" in a text message...this does not make any sense:confused: When viewing any text the name of the sender is at the top. So why would you need a signature??? I will give you the benefit of the doubt if you can give a great reason why its needed. A signature would also make all texts larger and you would see it on every single text which would be rather mundane.

Everyone please keep looking for more New Features and post them. I will continue to test/search as well but it looks as if the rest of the 100 are internal software changes or have not been released yet.

You know how annoying that would be?

There a things that are annoying to some and then there are some that want it....

Can you please just answer the question....

There is no great reason. But it is funny how many times I see it. I was asked by a person if this was coming to the iPhone. I did a search and I could not find it anywhere as a possible new item. So I thought I would ask.

In all honesty does it really matter if you like the idea or not if something like this can be turned off or on? It is just a question. In the latest build can the iPhone do signatures in text messaging?

Thanks

Again Rhett...I was not poundin on you. I gave you my opinion and then offered up to accept why you wanted it. All I am asking is why would you need this feature? This is what has me confused and I was giving you the room and respect to provide an explanation and that if it made sense, I would totally accept it. I know there are others that were poundin on you but that was not my intent and I apologize if my post was taken in that light.

I also apologize for not answering your question which it now has been correctly...The iPhone does not offer signatures. They are only usable in your emails and are adjustable and can be turned off.

If you care to...i still am interested in what way you would use a signature in a txt???

Thanks.

I know in another phone, you can have several signatures. IE if you are texting to work person etc, you can have your name with phone number etc at the end of the text. I have also seen if you are typing to a significant other, you can have something like XOXO etc.......

Once again, I will state that it doesn't matter to me. I can give a rats ass about MMS also but it seems lots of people want it!

Thanks again for the great thread......

And now I can understand and say that it could be a useful tool to users who like different. A business man being able to sign a text with a signature could be beneficial and the little tags between family members is also understandable. I would say that a feature of this nature would need to be accessible right on the screen so that you could turn it on, select the sig for one text and then turn it off. Having the option under settings would not be beneficial.

I think your request could be addressed more readily by apple allowing emoji and in the emoji screen you have the ability to add a personal message or two and/or personal emoji's. I think this would be more appealing to mms users then just a signature feature.

I do not use MMS either; however, I do use SMS and the emoji's and think you have made your point. It is a fair idea and you have made it make sense and we shall see if Apple does something like it for the future. You would have top post in Apple's web site and recommend the idea.

Thank you for the explanation!!!

good stuff, little tweaks all over the place, making the phone THAT much better.

I run 24 hours a day with battery test 5 settings and am very satisfied with the 24 hour standby. I recharge my iPhone while I sleep every other night. I have never had a battery problem with location, bluetooth, wifi and fetch on 24 hours a day. The only battery killers for me have been videos, playing in safari or playing a game. I do not have 3G and would surmize that if it were on, my stats would be totally different.

What is sad is that I really love my Google App and miss it a lot but when it caused my battery to drain 3 x's in one day...it had to go. I also was unable to notify google about the app problem because they only use forums and I am not going to advertise that I am a beta tester in Google Forums.

Thanks.... I agree with the emoji's... love em.

Here is another question, has emoji been broken with 3.0?

No...i still have with 3.0 beta 2. I used Typing Geniousto install it. Follow the instructions right in the description of the iTunes store. It remained in place even during a backup restore.

If the app gets updated...do not update. Just drag a copy of the current and store some where else in case you forget or it gets removed.

is there a way in 3.0 to hide text messages? and just show incoming message sender and not the message? Im aware in 2.2.1 you can hide but you have to lock your phone and it doesnt hide it when the phone is unlocked. thanks for any info.

Yes, there is an option now that allows you to hide the messages without having to put a passcode lock on your device. It's in the new Messages settings.

Perfect.. This is what I have been using!

Thanks for the update.

iPhone OS 3.0 beta 2 keyboard

The numeral "8" and the amersand "&" do not work using the latest iPhone OS 3.0 beta update. Anyone else have this problem? Any way to resolve this is problem?

Try a reboot as mine works without a hitch, just tested it to be sure.

There's a new login screen for Wifi networks. Basically now when you connect to a wifi network that redirects to a login screen, the phone pops up a screen to let you login.

It also seems to get dismissed by holding the home button, so capturing it was hard:

I may be wrong but I believe the login screen is based on the settings of the institution. I also logged into Sullivan University....my college...with 3.0 and it was the normal old fashioned login screen that asked for user name/password. I would need more confirmation from other users before we determine this to be a New Feature. Again, I am not saying your wrong but further testing is needed.

Thanks for the screen shot and we will see what others post.
