I don't have the beta, so I'm wondering if someone could perform a random test for me. In Safari, hold the back button to see if browsing history is displayed. I submitted this to the iPhone feedback page a couple times. I think it would be useful. It works in the full version, so why not the mobile one.

I didn't get any history on my iPhone so I guess its not working :(

Update

Happy Hump Day!!! I have updated a few things on page 1 that others have found but posted in new threads.

With this thread, I was attempting to limit the additional new find posts and bring it to one easy to find central thread. Also to assist the mods in keeping MR a tad easier to monitor. Hopefully by bringing those posters to this thread we can find more New Features.

I have also changed the title of the thread in an attempt to bring more posts here and prevent new thread creations.

I check this thread daily and try to keep it up to date and usable. To go as far as shifting the NF numbers when one is found all the way at the top.

Keep searching...even though we are almost at 40, I believe that we have 50 or more discoversies...the other 10 being minor.

Keep the info coming and we will catch ya l8tr.

Now there is a battery percentage meter. Ex: 95%

That's not in the current build. The Boy Genius Report has screenshots from a supposed NEWER beta that developers don't even have yet.

Where? Please explain in a little more depth so that others can see/use it as well.

Thank You

If you go to boygeniusreports he has some screen shots of the battery percentage meter along with some different video screen shots. I'm on my iPhone so I can't upload them.

1. Are you sure those screenshots are real?
2. Those features are NOT in the current developer build
3. He should not add this to his first post as a new feature because we don't even know for sure if it's even real yet.

Hey everyone! Over at everythingicafe.com we've been coming up with a list of our own. It looks like we've found a lot more features than have been found here if you want to go check it out here. OP, feel free to take anything from our list to add to yours (we've already taken some from yours and added to ours :))

If anyone here notices something missing on our list, please PM me. Thanks!

A couple of things. You noted that there was landscape Mail, Notes and Messages, but did you forget landscape Contacts? You wouldn't think Contacts would need to be landscape, but it does work... try it.

Also, "Camera roll now included in back-ups"... That has been there for a while. When I restore from a backup, my camera roll gets restored as well. I fail to see how that is a new feature in 3.0.

Thank you for the offer! I took a look at your list and it is deffinetly more detailed and IMO too detailed. Over half of your features are broken down individually instead of by app or function. For example cut/copy/paste was released as one New Feature by Apple. You least each search specifically in each app where Apple released it as a Spotlight search feature. There are many more redundant examples that you list and that is why you are over 100.

Again, its a great list and I am not knocking it but what I and others here are trying to do is list each area and the overall specific changes and/or give a brief description of what it does or how it works. We are also only listing New Features that can be confirmed on a non-jailbroke phone that the majority of users would see and/or use.

I agree that my list may be short at the current time but not ALL new features have even been released and/or activated yet. Some of what I have listed, I have included with other New Features instead of listing each single individual use as a new feature...I do not believe that was Apple's intent.

I do appreciate you posting your link and the invite and this allows readers of this thread to gander at your list as well. Keep up the hard work and good luck on the Easter Egg Hunt :):):)

Add "Landscape Contacts" to your Contacts section.

more (i think)

You can now edit contacts from the "Recents" tab in the Phone app, rather than having to go to the contacts tab
We can receive videos via MMS, and there's that little film strip up top
there's a "Store" menu on the settings app
but it contains nothing more than the word Store

I also noticed that when installing apps from the AppStore, or syncing new apps from iTunes, they don't go in any empty spaces on the first page....skips to first empty spot on page 2+

Battery & Memory Test

I had to move my battery & memory test here to free up character space on entry 1. A link to here will be posted in entry one at the bottom for future reference or changes.

BATTERY & MEMORY TEST: I am using FreeMemory to base all of my tests/results with I have also used my Classic iPhone, 2.2.1 as a comparison tool.
Note: Using FM I wanted to discover where some of the memory was going and found some interesting results. I noticed that the Phone and Mail are always active so tested using Safari and iPod.

On the Classic I opened the iPod app and then closed it using the Home Key and then opened FM and noticed that iPod was still showing as active. I then opened iPod and Force Closed by pressing and holding the Home Key, then opened FM and iPod was gone. The difference in Memory usage was 4-5mb.

On the 3G I performed the same test as above but had to alter shut down methods because force shut down does not currently work on 3.0 so I started from a power off, turned on and checked FM then opened iPod and closed just using the home key. Checking FM showed the same as above, the app was still actively using an average of 5mb.

Using Safari on the Classic, I checked FM and it Maintained an avg of 20mb free. Opened Safari and closed with Home Key avg dropped to 15mb and it still showed as active. Forced Shut down returned it to 20mb and did not show anymore.

Safari on 3G using the New Feature. Again starting from a shut off iPhone to turning on and opening FM showed iPhone at an average of 36mb free memory. Opened Safari, loaded a page and kept it loaded but shut Safari down by using the Home Key reduced the Free Memory to an avg 22mb and it showed that Safari was still active. Opened Safari back up and closed all pages (New Feature) which brings up a blank page and memory increased to an average 33mb and no longer showed Safari. This was a whopping 11mb difference.

Conclusion: If a user opens Safari and the iPod during any active period and then closes just using the home key still continues to use 10-16mb of memory on both versions of software. These apps are NOT closing completely when the home key is pressed thus causing memory leak and IMO responsible for App crashes. This is why it is recommended to turn off the iPhone when installing new apps or memory hungry apps. This is NOT a 3.0 issue only. If you force close these apps then it frees up memory and it also generates a crash report. These tests were performed multiple times with the same results.

Update

I have updated page 1 again. It has been cleaned up and the Battery test moved. Three new features have been added thanks to contributors. I think it will be a lot easier to read now. Let me know what you think. We are almost half way there.

Let me know if any thing else should be altered to make it easier to read/use.

Thanks to all again and hope you enjoy the update.

Contacts Edit Info added to page 1 as a NF.
MMS features are all currently consolidated under 1 NF entry.
Until MMS is completely opened up for beta WITHOUT moving SIM card and/or adding data to the iPhone, then I will not add new features to the front page. Again, we are doing this for what the average user would see/use, not the extremes to what some of us go to get things working. Once it works as intended and can be used without alteration/addition then it will be added as a new feature. The only ones there now are those that were press released by Apple.
I knew about the "Store" under settings but did not post it as a NF since we do not know what the NF is/will be. Once it is identified it will be posted.

Is it just me or has the sound you hear when sending an SMS vanished??

When saving a number and choosing a label such as main or mobile, there is a new label that says iPhone. Pretty handy.
