Night 3 with no drain so looking promising.
Sad day.

I am having the same issue with my 12 Pro, losing 3-4% battery per hour on idle during the night. I also got it already replaced and the new one seems to have the exact same issue. So waiting 6 weeks for the replacement unit did nothing. Thank you👌

I now created an automation running every 30 minutes to log battery level in a file on iCould.
I also did some previous analysis, playing around with setting disabling everything etc, without any significant change.
Now the interesting part, I figured out that battery draining is only happing with an inserted SIM card! (Flight mode does not have any effect), only removing the SIM card from the iPhone!
Using Telekom (Germany), perfect signal, wifi connected. So poor signal should not even have an impact.
I am going to switch to eSIM tomorrow, hoping to fix it with it.

What’s wrong with 3-4% battery drain overnight lol.

I’m on a 12 pro and never had any significant battery drain until 14.3 now I’m experiencing it significantly. 10-15% overnight where there was 0-1% previously and usage wise I can see it dropping 2-4% within 5 mins just doing casual safari browsing. Have even noticed it dropping while only going through settings to investigating battery/active functions. iOS 14 is simply a botched release for many users in different facets. If there wasn’t a health pandemic and I was in field working I’d be even more frustrated.

Month down,

the new phone is just a phone already; so I've stopped worrying about it and get on with important things to do in life; charge it overnight, use it in the day ..

Surely isn’t overnight battery drain dependant on the size of overnight backups, app updates and general syncing. I lose around 5% overnight and I don’t see that as excessive

I have the same problem as you, my 12PM has a standby drain. It drains 10% to over 20% over night. Did a clean install when I got my 12PM but I saw the same standby drain on my 11PM as soon as IOS 14 was relieced but it was not as bad as my 12PM. Contacted apple support about it and they did a faulttracing via remote but everything was fine. I’m now on 14.3 and don’t see any improvements on standby drain . I really think it’s a software issue and I really hope apple is getting reports about this so they will fix it

I have reported my issue on this apple support site and I hope all of you with this issue will do the same.

I have same kind of drain at night, but i am using 12 Mini
Do you guys recommend any settings in order to get the best battery life because 12 Mini has average battery life for me?
Should i not restore my ex iPhone save and start from scratch as new iPhone?
Thanks

If I where you I wouldn’t restore at this moment. I started my 12PM as new and still have standbydrain

Reading macrumors on mini, dropped my battery by 4% in 2 minutes. The battery drain is real. On standby, it drops about 5-7% per hour.

I've an iPhone 12 Pro Max since yesterday. It seems that I've the same issue (I know, may get better in a few days). I also have a German Telekom SIM in my iPhone. 3% per hour drain is not acceptable for me. But 0.4% seems quite perfect though. You wrote, flight mode didn't change anything. So I think, you tested this. Can you tell if it is better now with eSIM?

/edit: It may be helpful if people would mention their settings like carrier, SIM or eSIM, Dual-SIM or Single-SIM, …

I did not test it yet.
But it seems like flight mode (on) also reduced battery drain overnight. That was not the case with my first 12 pro on 14.1 or 14.2.
What I also learned during the last days is, that your location might have an influence on that as well. The last days I was at my girlfriend's place and the battery drain overnight was gone! Now being back at home it looks like the issue is back!
Maybe it also has to do with your wifi connection, I will test that tonight.
Or with the location, being between different mobile cells or something...
Also heard that 14.4 Beta might fix the issue, maybe I am also gonna try that.

Been testing some different settings over night and the results is strange. I got different battery drains every night

5% drain, Bluetooth off
13% drain, battery save mode
10% drain, Bluetooth off (again)
4% drain, WiFi off
19% drain, Bluetooth and WiFi off (personal record)

This values are after 7-8 hours in standby
over night. Some nights I have the same drain as I have when I use the phone daytime.

Will try airplane mode tonight

Does everyone having issues with drain use 'Find my Iphone'? I had it actively checking location constantly, and as an experiment turned it off before bed and had a 1% drain with low battery mode turned on and everything else in (cell, BT, Wifi)

Battery drain overnight is such downside to any smartphone, what the point if you got the best battery life if you constantly losing battery overnight?
I dont really get it why some users having draining issues while the others don't
I never had a single issues with my iPad despite using same iPhone save
I had Android devices before, and they did not drain overnight (2% per night)
Apple should implement an automatic battery night mode (you can disable it but by default it should be enabled)
Its easy to do and people wont worry about battery life drain overnight^^

I’m not sure what you are suggesting. Battery drain isn’t even for everyone because different folks likely produce different tasks for their iPhones.

We also have different expectations in many places. One may call 2-3% less battery after an hour for example excessive drain while to others that’s a normal occurrence.

Existing smartphone users likely charge their device over night too. May not be everyone as usual but that’s what a lot of people do. Phone charges on nightstand.

Well I'll be damned! It's a Christmas miracle!
iPhone 12 Pro 0.59% per hour dropped overnight. Only thing i did was leave it face down. Wifi and Bluetooth On, Physical SIM with poor room signal reception.
