Well I'll be damned! It's a Christmas miracle!
iPhone 12 Pro 0.59% per hour dropped overnight. Only thing i did was leave it face down. Wifi and Bluetooth On, Physical SIM with poor room signal reception.

Interesting, will try to leave it face down tonight. I had all time high standby drain tonight, 29% . Didn’t turn anything off when I went to bed last night.

hi to all, Same her. Had always a overnight drain about 15 -20% (8h) With all the Things Turned OFF like Siri, background Updates , Tracking services ,BT and Wifi .. .
also I have reset the iPhone and installed the iOS 14.3 ‚clean‘ (once again at DFU) without a backup.

I put the physical SIM Card out and run only with eSim (Same contract, just changed) but nothing helps.

yesterday i reseted the networksettings, go to bed and leave the iPhone Face down with 64%.as i woke up, 60%!!
with DND and ’bed Time’ but this was always on at night for me.

4% was possible before just in Flightmode!

its chrismas
its magic

I’m not sure what you are suggesting. Battery drain isn’t even for everyone because different folks likely produce different tasks for their iPhones.

We also have different expectations in many places. One may call 2-3% less battery after an hour for example excessive drain while to others that’s a normal occurrence.

Existing smartphone users likely charge their device over night too. May not be everyone as usual but that’s what a lot of people do. Phone charges on nightstand.
I meant for example, if you go for Pro Max, you would expect a nice battery life overall
However if its constantly draining overnight, you wont be able to keep two days of use
I dont think its normal to have constant drain overnight (i would expect 3/4% as the maximum loss)
Maybe Apple could make an automatic deep sleep mode

Hi, interesting. What’s with flight mode? Battery save mode? On or off?

I lost 0% this night (12 Mini)
Note i have switched from another 12 Mini which lost about 7-10%
Its incredible, i will make another test tonight in order to make sure if this is regular

I don't normally check this regularly, but noticed this morning (due to the large drop) that mine lost around 50% overnight. o_O

From my experience things are still very shaky. I have nights with the exact same conditions were i ve lost a reasonable 4-5%, nights i ve lost 0% (not from 100% but from a lower level) and nights like the last night where i lost a whopping 18%

Yes, this drain are making ME crazy too.

But I’m starting too think it could have something to do with my paired Garmin Fenix 6X but I’m not sure yet. I have had nights with no drain when bt was off but at the same time I’ve had night with drain with bt off . It doesn’t make any sense

I have seen some problem with Garmin connect app when it’s running in the background but I have turned background data off for this app and after syncing my watch I always end it. Haven’t seen any background progress for this app since then but I’m thinking if the watch still trying too communicate with connect app trough bt and keeps my phone up.

Next test is to use my watch without bt connection to see if that change anything.

Anyone else using a watch with standbydrain ?

Those having night battery drain check you battery health data using CoconutBattery or iMazing (Windows version available and battery health check works in free version too). You probably find correlation in this as weak battery self discharges a lot more than good battery (103 - 104%).

iPhone 12 mini.

What do you think about this? 👇

Use: whatsapp, Instagram, two calls, settings, no heavy apps like games or camera or YouTube.

(P.S.: Night drain only 3% in 8h because airplane mode ON).

Please tell me if it’s good or bad!

Battery is still all over the place on my 12 Pro. Best overnight was 3% - 4% on 14.3. The other night phone was on 21% battery when I went to bed at 11pm. Next morning checked the phone at around 10am and it was completely flat.

Same here. Thought it might be my Garmin watch causing drain but I don’t think it is. Some night the phone only takes 4-5% and other nights it takes 20-30%. Don’t understand this drain issue I try to disable things over night to see if there is a pattern but it isn’t. Some nights with Bluetooth turned off it takes 4-5% but next night with the exact same setup it takes 25%. Must be software related

I lost a very substantial amount of battery overnight on my 12 (see from midnight onward). It shows no apps running during the night. 5G is off. Background refresh also off.

Completely agree, i wrote the same thing few posts above. I would like to add that i notice the same behavior on my 2018 ipad that also runs 14.3

Does this sound right?

I’ve performed a complete factory reset of my iPhone (using my Mac,) and installed everything from scratch.

I left all of the settings as they were, and calibrated my battery (ran it until it turned off, then fully recharged with a 5w plug, so no fast charging.)

Ive now turned of most of the alerts, most of the location services, and have completely turned off background app refresh.

I even turned off fetch for email.

Yet I’m still losing about 20% of battery overnight (WiFi and Bluetooth turned off.)

Does this sound right to you?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

No. I lose only a couple of % every night on all of my device - iPhone, iPad - with WiFi and Bluetooth always connected. Do you have good phone signal where the phone is at? You could try putting the phone in airplane mode so it isn't searching - not a good solution but rather as a way of tracking the issue down.

Check the Battery settings to see what app is eating the most battery. In addition to this also check your battery health, although that should be fine since it’s a new phone. Lastly, did you try completely resetting your phone instead of restoring from a backup?

My 12 Pro Max battery drained from ~90% to ~10% overnight last night but turns out the culprit was the Photos app. The app tried to upload a photo all night in the background but probably was unable to do it and kept trying again and again. It was a one time issue though, hopefully.
