No. I lose only a couple of % every night on all of my device - iPhone, iPad - with WiFi and Bluetooth always connected. Do you have good phone signal where the phone is at? You could try putting the phone in airplane mode so it isn't searching - not a good solution but rather as a way of tracking the issue down.
I’m going to give that a try, thank you.

I do put my phone on DND every night.

I’ve switched to o2, which should have a good signal?

Check the Battery settings to see what app is eating the most battery. In addition to this also check your battery health, although that should be fine since it’s a new phone. Lastly, did you try completely resetting your phone instead of restoring from a backup?

My 12 Pro Max battery drained from ~90% to ~10% overnight last night but turns out the culprit was the Photos app. The app tried to upload a photo all night in the background but probably was unable to do it and kept trying again and again. It was a one time issue though, hopefully.View attachment 1706511
Thanks for the detailed response.

When I performed a factory reset, I set up as a new device and installed everything manually. I always do this.

My battery is at 100% health.

What Fetch settings are you using (re mail)?

I have mine set to check every half an hour.

I’ve change it to automatic, and have just reset all of my settings.

Are you using a COVID-19 exposure app? If so, try turning exposure notifications off. The battery on my 11 was draining quicker than normal and I found the culprit to be the exposure app I'm using. As soon as I turned off exposure notifications (and background app refresh), the battery stopped draining so much in standby.

Thanks for the advice.

I actually just turned off the notification setting in the COVID settings. I don’t have a dedicated COVID app installed.

Do you have all background app refresh turned off?

I have the same issue. Battery drains without any activity in the background(WiFi and Bluetooth off). Drain noticeable in 4G. I managed to stop the drain by switching to 3G at night or keeping it in 4G with low power mode switched on.

Hope future version of iOS fixes this.

What Mail settings are you using?

Also, what background app refresh settings are you leaving on?

Cheers.

Not on O2. I am on Airtel. Mail is set to fetch Manually. Background App Refresh is on for Shortcuts, Stocks, Weather,Maps.

Many others have reported the same problem on Apple Discussion forums. Like me, some have reported that switching to 3G at night solves issue(or switching on low power mode). But this is only a temporary fix. Battery drain was noticed in iOS 14.1,14.2 now in 14.3.

My 12 Pro Max battery used to drain around 25% at night. Now with 4G and low power mode, it loses around 6% overnight. With 3G(only 3G and low power mode set to off), it loses only 3%. A few days running. Fingers crossed.

Hope a future update solves this problem.

Just leave it on the charger over night.
The power usage is likely the constant connection checks to the cell tower. If the phone is put in Airplane mode then I bet the battery discharge will go way down (my phones do).
Unless you need to have a telephone active when you sleep, Airplane Mode over night is the way to go

Have the same issue with my 12PM, driving me crazy. Been doing some testing and turned things off at night but I get different drain every night. At some point I thought it was Bluetooth and WiFi draining my battery, when it was turned off it only drained 4% at night but next day with the same setup it drained 30%. Battery saving mode resulted in 13% over night drain. Doesn’t find the pattern of this drain. Doesn’t have any apps recording battery drain either so nothing to go on. At some point I thought it was my Garmin Fenix draining my battery but turning it off at night didn’t do any change.

I think it’s IOS14 that causing this. For me this drain issue started on my iPhone 11 PM the day I installed IOS14 and when I got my 12PM I didn’t use a backup, I started it as a new clean phone and installed everything manually but that didn’t fix it either. I think it got worse sense 14.2-14.3.

I know what you mean about the battery indicator not giving any idea of what is causing the drain.

It’s a pain in the arse.

I left my router on last night (I usually turn it off when I go to bed) and both my 12 Pro Max and iPad Pro 11 (2020) were on and connected to it. My iPad was still at 100% this morning, whereas my iPhone had lost about 20%.

There were only 2 tiny instances of the photos app doing something through the night.

I’d had enough, so I called Apple technical support.

I was on the phone with technical support for an hour, and the fella was pretty useless.

He did run diagnostic tests on my phone, one for general problems, and one for the battery. Apparently both came back fault free.

I’ve just performed a factory reset of my phone (again) and I’ve only added my email addresses. I’ve turned off raise to wake, but I’m not changing any other settings.

I’ll see if the issue persists tonight/tomorrow.

I’m on o2, in the UK.

If everyone else could comment with which network provider they use, I think it could be helpful.

Same here, iPhone 12 on Giffgaff in the UK. Last night I had absolutely nothing show up on the battery indicator but lost 25% battery in low power mode. The only thing that seems to stop it is aeroplane mode/removing the sim, which brings battery drain down to low single digits for me.

How's the cellular signal strength in the place where your phone is at night? The bars don't tell much but you can check this way -

I used to see high battery drain when the signal was poor in my house.

What’s weird is that it only happens during night time.

I don’t experience battery drain during daytime; do you?

How many experiencing drain use screen widgets? They are new to the iOS and can be problematic to both developers and operating systems.

I’ve factory reset my iPhone, and haven’t added any new widgets.

All I’ve done is move the battery widget to my Home Screen.

I’m not removing the stock widgets deliberately because I’m trying to find what the cause of the drain is.

Widgets update on background and/or location aware. It is well understood in the Android world that widgets cause drain though it's gotten a whole lot better over time. I'm reading all this now because I'm contemplating a move from the Note 10+ to the Pro Max. And all this gives me pause.

Just checked. -96. Not the best but not terrible. But frankly, while that will have an impact, as a customer I shouldn't care/worry about it. This is my 7th iPhone, the 3rd in this very house. None had this issue. My wife's OnePlus 8 is literally almost next to my iPhone, no drain. I also tried a friend's Samsung S20 FE. It's on 20% right now, 5 hours on screen time and 3 nights in the same room as my iPhone 12 overnight.

Can't say as I'm using it, but it does feel less tbh. I'm losing 25% overnight, so it should be dead the night after but it's not.

Not using a single widget.
