Not really equal:
PowerBook G4 12.1" (thanks to http://apple-history.com)
Dimensions: 1.18" H x 10.9" W x 8.6" D
Weight: 4.6 lbs.
MacBook 13.3"
Dimensions: 1.08" H x 12.78" W x 8.92" D
Weight: 5.2 lbs.
MacBook Air (13.3")
Dimensions: 0.76" H x 12.8" W x 8.94" D
Weight: 3.0 lbs.
So, I'd guess that the new MacBook would come in at something like 1" H x 12.5" W x 8.6" D (Assuming a somewhat narrower bezel around the screen.)
I just hope the have real good screens this time. I was foolish enough to buy a BlackBook 2 month sago without checking it in stores (thinking the screen quality was the same as on the 15" MacBook Pro's). I couldn't believe how bad it was, it had like a 0.1 degree viewing angle. You can't even get an angle where the entire screen looks ok. I seriously believed the computer was faulty until I brought in in store an realized they are ALL like that ô_Ô.
I sold it back on eBay the very same day but took a good loss :-(.
I would like 3 options: 13" 15" and 17" and then you choose the guts. And while you build it a battery meter appears showing projected battery life to power ratio so you can build a portable uber battery sucking editing machine or an extremely slick heavy traveling system.
Thank f*** for that. I can relax now, until tuesday.
...that's probably Apples plan!![]()
Amen, the current MacBook screens suck. I'm fairly certain they're going to put LEDs in the new ones though!I just hope the have real good screens this time. So I'm assuming 13.3" 16:10 and not 16:9? If so, that's a big blow to the 16:9 camp. But the MacBook Pros could still be 16:9, and given how long 4:3 stayed on the iBook after the PowerBook went to 16:10, I'd say this is likely.
Lol too much speculation??? Where have u been all this time? hehe... welcome to Mac"RUMORS".com![]()
Nothing to see here, it's just another fake. I'm sure of it.Apple has invited media to a special "notebook" event on Tuesday, October 14th. BoingBoing analyzed the laptop pictured on the invitation and concluded that it was likely a picture of the rumored 13" Aluminum MacBook.

Who really cares about new notebooks any more? With the stock market the way it is, who can afford to buy expensive toys? The dow is at 8500 and dropping, you'd be a fool to put your $$ into toys right now.
No. silver is probably a good investment, and treasury bonds are looking better by the day. Once the market levels out later on, there's going to be a big buy-back, you'll want to get back into stocks before the buy back. the big players (warren buffet, etc) are all liquid at the moment, waiting for the moment to jump back into the market. What is your suggestion.
Put all you money into let's-freak-out machine?!
I haven't heard of a smaller MacBook Pro.Where is the rumored "info" that these are Macbooks? And not just a smaller Macbook Pro?
I think specs will be the key differentiator, even more than what they are now.Personally, I am not sure if Apple would do that, as it still is a status symbol on nearly every consulting gig I am involved in, when people whip out their machines and you have a selection of Silver and white/black. I know it sounds horribly petty, but do you give your money to the guy with the entry level notebook, or the one who spends more money on a higher end machine. Basically, It's the whole cheap suit theory.
Nope. The invite is real.Nothing to see here, it's just another fake. I'm sure of it.
