Who really cares about new notebooks any more? With the stock market the way it is, who can afford to buy expensive toys? The dow is at 8500 and dropping, you'd be a fool to put your $$ into toys right now.

Well being British and coming to the US in november for my cousins wedding means i can use the strong pound and get the mac for nearly half price! HAH I LOVE YOU £!

No. silver is probably a good investment, and treasury bonds are looking better by the day. Once the market levels out later on, there's going to be a big buy-back, you'll want to get back into stocks before the buy back. the big players (warren buffet, etc) are all liquid at the moment, waiting for the moment to jump back into the market.

Well. That's what people thought 2-3 days and 1000+ points
ago. Timing is a key!.

McCain/Palin 08.

I believe the term I'm looking for is "Piss off". ;)

My relatives were actually just over here about a month ago. I think they lucked out with the exchange rate before the recent dip, which has been substantial since it was around 2:1 in their favor.

If it keeps going this way, by Nov 1 pound will be 0.79c.
Welcome to the USA, pal!

Id love to see a 12" macbook thats the thinnest ever but surely that will stop people going for the air bearing in mind that doesnt have an optical drive or many ports? think the 13inch is here to stay but those pics look awesome...just wish they would do away with the macbook and air keyboard and stick to the pro which I think is for superior...just my opinion! 14th october..will I be doing my dissertation or watching engadgets stream followed by waiting for the apple store to update..then the keynote and choosing which gorgeous macbook to shove on the plastic :)

Unfortunately, it seems that way, some folks believe that there are no reasons to have a 12'' with the MBA in the market. However , just in my immediate circle of friends I can count 3 or 4 who could buy one if it hits market tomorrow.

Oh Yes But did i also mention that my very cousin thats getting married works for Apple in the accounting/finance department and will be getting a 15% Corporate thingy discount for me; so heres how ive budgeted:

Top Notch Apple Macbook Should be around $1400 with these price cuts everyones talking about

15% of 1400 = 210

1400 - 210 = $1190

$1190 in £ = £691

I care!

And by the way : Voting for McCain will not help in any way :p

Are you planning on buying a macbook on Obama's handouts?
I would rather save my taxes and earn one.

If you're one of the lucky people who would pay less tax under a McCain administration then forget the MacBook! A top of the line MacBook Pro would be a drop in the ocean. :)

Yes with stocks so cheap you should be buying them up leaving no money for a toy. For every person who had to sell his investment at a low price there in one parson who got a bargain. I'm buying so I'm happy.

Yes you are correct about toys. Dumb to buy toys with bargain priced stocks available but for some people computers are not "toys". Some of us make our living using computers.

Who cares about the economy and the stock market, everyone knows the country is going to ****, might as well have some shiny new toys to play with while we bail out more idiots on Wall St.

Silly me thinking this was an apple rumor site, not a, "my political views are better than yours" site. So how about you go play with Rush Limbaugh and let the rest of us enjoy computers?

Before you decide to attack me for being a socialist or whatever neo-con bull you can think of, I'm extremely conservative, as in traditional conservative. Not the crap that people like McCain spew out under the flag of "conservatism." So, knock it off. Behave or leave.

I seem to remember reading an article linking the rise in gin consumption to the complacency of the British people somewhere around the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Edit: supposedly they were close to revolution, but gin took care of it.

Well... that didnt stop us from owning 2/3 of the world!

Perhaps you heard this when you were once young and under 4ft tall in your History class: "Whilst Queen Victoria reigned, the Sun never set on the British Empire..."

and that included, yours Truly The United States Of Afghanistan, I mean America:D

Apple has invited media to a special "notebook" event on Tuesday, October 14th. BoingBoing analyzed the laptop pictured on the invitation and concluded that it was likely a picture of the rumored 13" Aluminum MacBook. The existing MacBooks also come in 13" screen sizes but are housed in a plastic enclosure. This assumes, of course, that the laptop on the invitation is an actual photograph and has not been otherwise altered. This finding is also consistent with circulating rumors and leaked photos that suggest the MacBook and MacBook Pro lines will be consolidated under a similar design.

Planetamac.es appears to have taken the leaked images and composited them into a mockup of what the new MacBook may look like.

I hate to mention it...but the way the light shines on the upper top, and right side is starting to look like a "BRICK" to me, oops I said it! Anyone else see it?

I dont wanna be too cynical here, but I don't think that the new MacBooks will look like that. They have had the aluminum block design for a good few years now, and I think a completely new design may be revealed. If Apple are developing new production techniques from blocks of aluminium, then I reckon a more ergonomic design similar to the MacBook Air may be revealed.

I would hate to see the new MacBooks being the same only in aluminium with slightly faster processors. MacBook pros need a bit of a revamp, and a black keyboard and a few more Mhz wouldn't be enough for me to upgrade.

Please wow me Apple!

MacBook/Pros in iPod Nano colours may be on there way, which would be kool!
