Hi can anyone tell me if these new MacBook Pro’s are expected to be lighter than current ones and also are we expecting any new design on the MacBook Air?
Thanks

What’s wrong with the Air? Its light and easy to carry
It's actually both bigger and heavier than the original 12" MacBook. I bought my wife an M1 Air as a 12" replacement and she likes the technology but misses the original form factor.

I still think that you will see two processor options a Intel i9 to satisfy users that still need some issues yet to be addressed and a M1X. We are still in a processor shortage and Apple can get Intel processors pretty regularly still. Could be that the MacBook Pro 14 will be a M1X processor but the MacBook Pro 16 will still be an Intel for 1 more generation of product.

Like we have seen, Apple is not getting rid of the Xeon processor yet for the Mac Pro tower.

So, where there any instances of these new MBP's in the wild as they were being developed? Anyone know what they might have inside? Either I haven't seen them, or there haven't been any reports form website logs showing the new magic machines as they were being developed. Were there any?

I will bet you $100 USD that the 16" is Apple Silicon. Care to wager?

I wonder if the webcams in the new M1 notebooks will be scanning our interiors and compare them to the hash databases of the US Chamber of Commerce for illicit paintings? We think you are going to love it!

The Chamber of Commerce has NOTHING to do with government, except as an outside lobbying group.

The article starts with: "Apple suppliers..."

I thought the only supplier for the MacBook Pro is Quanta Computer?

I was hoping to hear rumors of a new 12 inch MacBook. The one they discontinued was really nice to carry with you. It didn’t hurt my back to carry in my backpack, and it was a real computer, unlike the iPad. Oh well.
I was hoping for NO rumor of a 12 inch MB. What a turd of a machine. Stay gone, 12 MacBook. Just.Stay.Gone.

Question...

The Macbook Air has been Apple's $999 laptop for quite a while.

And the 13" Macbook Pro started at $1,299 for the entry-level 2-port model... and $1,799 for the upgraded 4-port model. Then the 15" or 16" started at the $2,799 price point.

Do we think this new 14" Pro will start at the $1,799 price? And keep the older-style 13" MBP at $1,299?

Or will the 14" start at $1,299? Replacing the entry 13" ?

I'm pretty sure the Macbook Air will stay at $999... but there will be a huge price gap if they jump straight to $1,799 for the 14"

I think it would make sense to slot the 14" in at the current high end 13" price and the base 16" at the base 15" price. That's what I'm hoping for at least. With EDU pricing, that's $1699 for the base 14". Selling my 2018 Mac Mini for about $400, I'll need about $1,420 to get the base 14". Currently have $1k saved up.

is that pretty much what they did with the Mac Mini, Air and Pro 13" M1 machines? Matched the previous gen Intel prices?

From your lips to Tim's ears. That machine was awesome.

But what's under the hood? Where are the leaked logs from certain websites that usually come out before a new hotness is released. Are they yet to come?
That happens infrequently these days and if my memory serves me well when they do theyre closer to the actual release. Definitely not a check box. And even if it were, we dont have any for and intel variant. It would be totally insane to release an intel portable at this point. Insane.

Oh, I agree. Apple and Intel are definitely done, at least in the portable notebook genre. For good, or bad, Intel *processors* aren't going to happen. Other Intel chips are a possibility, but who knows...

They look thinner, and more angular. I would hope for a larger battery. Weight is a tradeoff... I would hope for a larger battery. The thinner bezels are awesome. We'll all see when they are birthed. I'm sure they will be very popular. People have been clambering for an update after the release of the smaller models earlier.

9 Months ago every one was so exited about the new iMac and how it was going to change everything. Now we get articles about the iMac like this.

I always say be careful what you wish for when, changing to a new system architecture. Wow I now get 14 hours of battery life and less fan noise. But what was taken away to give you this ability, that not every one cares about.

I don't need my Mac to be a iPhone.

The M1 Macs were by all measures the beta testers for these. Those have been met with great reviews and so far so good. These are final product. These are what i have been waiting for.

As my 16" MBP had to be sent for repair I bought the cheapest M1 Air. To my surprise that wasn't a bad experience at all, in contrary. My 16" returned but I actually do prefer the Air for day to day use as its way more responsive. Looking forward to the 16" Mx MBP.

Slightly off-thread but still this Autumn’s M1X topic - anyone think there’s a chance we will see something labelled as a Mac Mini Pro instead of just a higher tier Mac Mini?

I'd wager unlikely, but who knows. They did call a Mini a server at one time. I'd be in favor of a bulked up Mini that would be 'pro-level', but it would be an interesting marketing issue for them.

The 16 will 100% have and M1X/m2x option, I don’t see with all the thermal issues how and why apple would try to accommodate an intel chip in the new design.

where you may be right is there could feasibly be an update to the existing design with newer intel chips, I don’t see this happening but it’s more likely than having intel in the new chassis design. imho

please don't forget a 64GB option :)
Extremely unlikely, can't share proof bcoz of ©

Well, from what I have they removed SecDis, so anything is possible.

Google "Quanta Apple hack" and try to find the documents for J316
