14-Inch iPad Pro With Mini-LED Display Rumored to Launch in Early 2023

The files app seems to be pretty capable now. From what I've used on the iPadOS 16 beta the last few days, it does everything except let you litter your desktop with files
Does the new files app allow you to unmount media? Does it allow you to format an empty disk (with no partition) with APFS, exFAT, or HFS (something readable and writable by iPad/Mac).

I am intrigued by the idea of a 14.1" iPad Pro. I have loved my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro even more so since I got the Magic Keyboard for it. It's the best blend of a touch interface along with a world-class keyboard that makes me feel like I can handle just about any task I would want to throw at it. It fits perfectly in my backpack, too. I promise this isn't a commercial for Apple. It's just that this is truly a great product with even greater potential benefits with the new iPadOS on the horizon.

The curent 11 is 1 pound and the 12.9 is 1.5 pounds. The 14 could be 2 pounds or more, making it pretty heavy for tablet use.

It also seems the 11 is starting to get short changed by Apple. It could become the new Mini, only updated occasionally.

It's an iPad that has an OS and a CPU that has nothing to do with the previous iPads. Expect everything more.
Yeah, OK.

It's an iPad that doesn't exist yet, but it's called "iPad".

But can you go ahead and expect macOS on it.

Wow! A massive iPad Display. I will instantly buy this. Guess I won't be buying a new iPad Pro this year. Thanks, Mr. Young.
Add the rumored magic keyboard and you will get your 13” MacBook replacement lol

Honestly, I have a feeling this will be announced this year after iphone event, maybe for October.

That magic keyboard is a life altering experience, although i get why people might not like it, but if you hold the cmd key on every app or instance it will give you the macos similar shortcuts to the ipad, makes things a Hell of a lot easier when using it but i’m curious if the 14” ipad is meant to accommodate the rumored macbook’s keyboard replacement

The 11" iPad Pro is significantly different from the iPad Air. The former getting the M2 (and mini LED) is all it really "needs".

Different, yes. Significantly different? That seems either debatable or subjective. And, mind you, when it comes to Apple products and their current-day quality control record, I'm much comfortable with refinement and fewer changes than substantial changes. If I was to buy a current generation iPad Pro, the 11-inch would sway me for that alone.

Canvas-size choice is an obvious benefit for those that want it. I wish Apple went even bigger, depending on the aspect ratio. The jump in size between the 11 and 12.9 iPads is already pretty dramatic. A 14.1 iPad would feel (wonderfully) HUGE.
They can realistically go as big as they want, especially if the goal is to compete with Wacom and offer a significantly higher-value product for a similar price. Certainly, as a companion display to a Mac, even a refurbished 12.9" iPad Pro offers WAY more value than a 13" Wacom Centique.

I’d go for the 12.9” with reduced bezels, that sounds awesome. 14.1” sounds a bit too heavy / unwieldy for my tastes in an iPad.
The iPad stopped being a tablet awhile ago. More and more it's becoming a "touchscreen Mac" (for lack of a better term).

Starting at $1299. Calling it now.
+400$ magic keyboard

+starting at 128gb (so u need to add 100 bucks)

+the pencil if u rly wanna make use of the capacitive display (140)

making it 50$ cheaper than a MBP 14 whilst having half the ram, half the storage (8/256 vs 16/512) and a much restricted OS .

no wonder apple doesn't want to kill their ipad lineup

Unless it comes with Finder or a Finder like easy to navigate filesystem, what exactly is the point?
I would guess you were a Mac person BEFORE you were an iPad guy. For many of us who adapted the iPad first or very early, ”finder” on iPad is fine. Sure, upgrades are always welcome to any software. But this is about workflow habits More than software Issues. I don’t expect nor even want my iPad to be a Macbook. I prefer my iPad workflow. It’s all about developed habits.

The 11" Pro has over the Air: FaceID, ProMotion, the screen is bigger (slightly, but still), an extra UW camera, True Depth camera, Thunderbolt 4, way more storage options, LiDAR, 100 nits brighter screen, and depending on the storage configuration twice the RAM. There's no room for debate here.

I guess depending on your point of view you can trivialize the "significance" of the differences.

But as you say, I prefer refinement over revolution, especially in the current iPads.

They are pretty mature for what they are, unless you are in the "I want a Mac in an iPad form-factor" camp.
