Was going to wait but going to ditch my 15 Pro Max for the 17 Pro Max.

Will likely skip the 18 Pro Max and get the 19 Pro Max next.

Nothing really wrong with the 15 Pro Max but 17 PM has a slightly larger screen, more battery, and better cameras.

I'm probably gonna stick to upgrading every 2 years.

I got my 15 Pro on release day, wasnt interested in the 16 or the 17.....until I saw the camera upgrades. Ive been using my phone way more than my real cameras over the past couple of years, and the 17 pro seems to take this further now.
Battery level is great, still only 92% after 2 years, but since installing the last couple of public OS 26 releases (first few were great) the daily battery performance has been awful.
I like the other minor updates like faster wireless charging and slightly larger screen, although not the slightly extra bulk.
So yeah, deep blue 15 pro coming on the 19th. I thought this year id get a better trade in price so that was also a deciding factor.

Currently on an iPhone 15 Pro Max having pre-ordered the 17 Pro Max. There’s been a time where I would upgrade every year, but with the iPhone 13 Pro I decided to change that to every two years.

I think it’s an fairly reasonable time for an upgrade. You might argue why I wouldn’t go for three years or even four years instead. And even though it still doesn’t feel like a HUGE change in terms of hardware, I am still pretty excited. More than I was going from the regular 13 Pro to the 15 PM. And more practically, my current battery health is at 90%, which I have definitely been ‘feeling’ since the past half year.

Mostly pumped for the new cameras, battery life and the vapor chamber.

first year im getting off the 2 year cycle that I've been on since the iPhone 3Gs (!!!!)..... it feels totally weird to not upgrade on my usual "upgrade" year, but my 15 pro is still at 92% battery, i have magsafe chargers everywhere and taking it out of the Bellroy leather case now, I honestly cannot find a scratch on this thing, anywhere, it basically feels brand new. This wasn't the case with any of the previous iphones i've ever had where two years in they would have some tangible wear and tear. Very weird.

Hilariously, the other big impediment for me upgrading this year... is the fact that it'll take me hours of being on the phone to customer service agents to re-set up all of the 2-fac authentication tokens on my phone... from work network, Exchange, various bank accounts (the worst)... that pain is not something i want to take on.

I'm now on 2023 vintage devices (new mac, watch, ipad and iphone that year) and honestly cannot predict when ill upgrade next. bad news for apple i guess.

If i was to guess my next apple device will be the airpods pro 3...but other than that...

Launch Day 15 PM w/ 84% BH. On the fence about upgrading. I don’t use many of the Pro features and getting tired of the bulk. I honestly considered the Air but wondering what the single speaker will be like. The battery doesn’t bother me as I have normalized midday charging and wouldn’t mind utilizing a battery back on trips. Sort of like the idea of only carrying around additional battery bulk when I truly need it.

Going to wait for reviews and if I end up sticking with the 15 PM I will get some type of slim battery back anyway to help me when away from home/work. Some good points about trade in values.

My launch day 15 Pro Max 1TB has 95% battery.

I'm trading in a launch day 13 Pro Max 1TB with 81% battery. $1100 trade-in is hard to pass on for the 13 Pro max. Wife will get the 15 and I'll upgrade to the 17 pro Max 2TB.

I know what you mean. Using iOS betas for the summer makes the battery life feel so much worse…right in time for new iPhones with their 100% battery health and claims of ## extra hours of video streaming.

Im considering it: my 15 Pro has a scratch on the front glass, it's only noticeable in certain light conditions but it does annoy me when I do notice it. I don't use a lot of the Pro features, the reason I got it actually was that it was the most pocketable size when I bought it (coming from 13 Mini) but I still find it difficult to use with one hand.

It's going to cost £350 to get the screen fixed but can get around £150 if I sell it to Music Magpie or a similar site despite the screen issue (if I get the screen fixed and trade it in via Apple would only get around £75 off a new device once the cost of the new screen is factored in).

So im left considering either: getting the regular 17 now it comes with ProMotion and 120 hz which would cost round £650; getting the 17 Air for around £850 but will wait for the reviews to come in, I figure that if Im using the Pro mainly with two hands anyway that the extra size shouldn't be an issue and I *do* like the look of it, will have to see how it feels in the hand; fixing the screen and making do with what I already have. I don't use a case on my phone (rightly or wrongly).

Decisions, decisions!

I'm trading in my 15 PM with 87% battery health for an iPhone 17 base model. I'm tired of the size and weight of the PM and don't need any of the Pro's camera features. Now that the base models have ProMotion displays, there is no reason for 99.9% of the population to have Pros.

My 86% battery on mi IP15 Pro is terrible now. I didn’t used to mind and thought I’d not upgrade this year. I’ve been awake for 3 and a half hours and I’m about to hit the 50% mark. But I’ve used the hell out of this phone so that’s also part of the reason for my upgrade I’m doing.

Went for an IP17 Mist Blue 🤘🏽 wooooo!

I feel the same! Last week I was only using Facebook messenger with one person. In three hours, battery dropped from 100 to 51.

17 PM in white. Man, these colors are terrible this year. I trade up every year and eat about twenty percent off the top, so I just think of it like a yearly rental fee. But for the first time I’m sittin’ here thinkin’, maybe I just skip it. Feels like I oughta flat-out boycott Apple. If it wasn’t for the way I juggle the money, I’d hang on till the iPhone 20. Droppin’ an extra two hundred euros just keeps me with a fresh battery, and sure, I’ll take a camera upgrade any day. But everything else? Just fluff. I’m wore out with Tim Cook and these overblown keynotes…they oughta just send a press release. And don’t get me started on the Apple Watch… or those slick videos shot in some million-dollar studio, tryin’ to convince folks the iPhone by itself can churn out Hollywood-grade footage…

Short story: I got the iPhone 15 Pro on launch day and love it. For reasons you can read below I won't be upgrading this year. My 15P still does everything I need right now, and though the new Fusion Cameras are interesting they're not enough to sway me. Beyond the cameras I'm not sure what else there is really to mark the 17P out over the 15P for me - slightly better processing power, slightly larger screen, better front facing camera, longer video playing time, none of that is a great pull for me. I came to the 15P from the iPhone 12 (and to that from an XR), perhaps three years is about the right time for me, but each to their own :)

Longer story: In October 2024 I found the telephoto lens would not focus. I took it to my local Apple Store, they easily replicated the issue and replaced the rear camera module under consumer law coverage as they described it (part goodwill, part UK consumer rights). In July 2025 I noticed issues with the touch screen when the top left corner of the screen got wet (first noticed after going for a bike ride in light rain). Once again took it to the Apple Store having deliberately triggered the issue (a single tiny drop of water on the top corner was enough) and they easily detected the issues and this time replaced the display (again writing it off as consumer law coverage). Roll on September and thanks to the wonderful British weather I end up getting caught in a torrential downpour while texting a friend. I put the phone into my pocket fairly quickly (the rain was heavy enough I couldn't reliably type, the touch screen was very hard to use) and thought nothing of it. Later that evening I noticed the front camera showed signs of condensation on it. Shortly after that (around two hours after the downpour) Face ID stopped working, followed later that evening by the rear cameras misting over (a FaceTime call the following day using the rear cameras made it look like there was a thick mist over the fields I was attempting to show on the call). I booked another Apple Store appointment and took the phone in while it was still showing signs of condensation. This time they said there was nothing they could do as it was liquid damage but offered to "repair it" by sending it away at a cost of £699. Given it's a two year old phone I declined this service, thanked them and left hoping that the phone would dry out. While walking away from the store I had second thoughts, the phone is advertised as having an IP68 rating, meaning it should withstand 6m of water for 30 minutes, I'd been in a downpour which hardly compared (though I accept the humid environment of a waterproof jacket pocket probably didn't help). I returned to the store and spoke to the geniuses again to politely argue my point, particularly as the display had been replaced two months prior. They insisted that the unit would have been sealed as-new when they'd replaced the display and so it was highly unlikely to be a manufacturing issue and more likely wear and tear. They did however offer to open up the phone to examine the internals in case anything did look awry. As I had nothing to lose (if they found nothing of note they'd give it me back in the same condition) I thanked them and said to go ahead. Two hours later I returned to the store and they explained that when they opened it there were extensive signs of water ingress with all the moisture stickers having been triggered. However they also found evidence of dust ingress, and because they could not be certain that this occurred after they'd re-sealed the phone following the display replacement they said it was possible that this had lead to the adhesive not working properly and thereby causing the water ingress. As it happened they had my exact model and colour in stock as a refurbished handset and so they offered to swap it there and then. As a result I walked out with an in effect brand new iPhone 15 Pro, with a zero count battery, which will hopefully last me for a good while to come. Boy am I glad I decided to go back into the store and try again to politely argue my point!

I’m skipping this year. My 15 Pro Max is still quick and does everything I need, so nothing in the new phones makes me want to upgrade.

I know plenty of people here change phones every year and that is their choice, but most people simply do not, especially with the minimal tech advances compared to the huge leaps we used to see.

What I am interested in is the foldable iPhone rumour. If Apple come in at a sensible price, I would consider it, and my granddaughter would be happy to take my 15 Pro Max with a new battery. If the foldable is priced too high, I will just replace the battery and carry on using this phone.

On the subject of first generation Apple hardware, I know the usual warnings. But I would imagine Apple have purchased every foldable phone out there and researched the hell out of them. That does not guarantee perfection, but it probably means they will not be starting from scratch.

PM14 user here. Phone is great, apart from the bulk and weight. I detest that.
Looking for something smaller and definitely lighter. But not sure what yet. I hope they keep improving the air and next year might be the year to replace my giant brick.

Decided to buy the 17 Pro Max in orange. Will take some time for it to be delivered. Thrilled with the color. At last Apple did it.

Off topic but figured since you have real cameras you can comment on how often you break out your real gear vs. phone. I know real cameras will always be better but was just curious.

I bought the iPhone 15 Pro Max because of its blue color. Whenever there are blue options, the wheels in my brain start spinning.

I’d need to see it in person, but I’d lean on getting the base storage 17 Pro.

The only reason I went with the 15 Pro Max was for the telephoto and to try a phone with a larger screen.

It felt so much nicer to hold vs my iPhone 13 Pro.

It felt like the brushed blue titanium and dark blue glass were perfect.

Apple Intelligence is a big feature for me (Shortcuts workflows with my Mac and iPads). If it were anything less than a 15 Pro Max, I’d be upgrading this year.

I think I’m quite lucky. I have a launch 15PM, my battery health is still at 95%. I set the charge limit to 80% from day one, only occasionally setting to 100% if I have a long day away/family trip etc. But, as mentioned in another post, I’ve always felt the camera lacking a little (but still is brilliant), but the heat issue, especially when shooting in Portrait is real. And it throttles it too-becomes clunky. Even this evening when editing the phone got ridiculously hot. Doesn’t do it everytime, but its noticeable.

So, for those reasons, I am upgrading to a 17PM in Orange. And I do like a big screen too-i sometimes use my wife’s 16, feels like a toy phone in comparison 😂

I'm on the fence, but leaning towards keeping my 15PM. Actually the Air looks way more appealing to me, but I just do not know if I would be satisfied with the camera.

Not sure why you wouldn’t. Same main camera as 15 pro. Other two cameras on 15 pro kinda suck or I avoid using.
