I'm almost always plugged in when using ethernet, so power is of no concern. Heat is a different matter, but Apple have historically been good at finding solutions to problems so they are first to market, or first to market with a working solution.

It’s been SEVEN YEARS...onboard GbE is not coming back to the MacBook Pro, ever. Buy the adapter and move on. Apple made concessions on the 16” MBP and they are done making concessions.

So no 10th gen intel cpu? Seriously?

At least they did 16GB and 512GB SSD from the start. Props there!

The 1TB upgrade and 32GB upgrade should each be $100 though, not $200. What an Apple Tax!!!

Decent graphics and upgrade path there. Nice!

No 0% with Apple Card for 24 months is a joke. C’mon!!!!

Why are you here? To piss and moan? Can’t you go to a bar and do that just as well?

FYI, there are NO 45w TDP 10th Gen CPUs shipping from Intel at this point and the ones next year (Comet Lake-H) will still be 14nm.

What a great “redesign”. Apple should just give up on the entire Mac line already... it seems they’re not really motivated to work on it anymore anyways. Can’t explain this lackluster update any other way. Fixing problems they introduced in the first place and sell it as a “feature” ... just laughable

Where is the 4K option
On the Dell website - Dell XPS 15 7590 - https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/14...2019-review-oled-core-i9-specs-features-price

Good luck!

The problem is that Americans never realise the price differences that exist in the rest of the world with Apple products. I bet in Greece the maxed-out version will reach over $8k...
How can I? I don’t check currency values all day long. I have no idea what local taxes are for each country in the EU. I check every so often when someone here references what they are going to pay for a Mac. Australia gets the almost sympathy from me, it’s brutal.

Do you check American currency values on a daily basis. Do you know how much local taxes are for any one of the 50 states in our Union? This works both ways, you know.

Still pissed they didn’t call you for your opinion first?

Feels like the smart bet is to wait 6 months for a new CPU, wifi6, and any other upgrades that come along for the ride, unless you are in dire need of a machine today.

I like so much this new MBP 16, it seems a perfect machine. Just I want to see If Apple mounted a new Thunderbolt 3 controller because the Intel JHL7540 supports up to 100W system charging ( and it seems ok ) but the power supply is 96W so it is closed to the controller high limit (only 4W of margin)...
The latest shipping Thunderbolt 3 controller from Intel is the JHL7540 “Titan Ridge”, so there is nothing new inside the 16” MacBook Pro.

You are over-complicating this. Its ALWAYS cheaper in America than everywhere else. There. That's it. I don't think Austrlaia is so bad i think Brazil gets hit really bad something like 40% tax or something crazy

I appreciate that I have been around since the Apple II, but am I the only one remembering the time when computers were getting cheaper at the same time as getting better?

So close. They could have put a full function row below the touchbar. Just shrink the trackpad a bit. Could have brought back magsafe in usb-c form as well. For me those things are more important than the keyboard or increased screen size.

AMEN...Brazil gets it in the shorts...try sending anything of value there and expecting it to clear customs without having a enormous duty slapped on it is like a running joke. I think it’s cheaper to fly it down there yourself in your carry on as personal property, give to the recipient and then fly back than to send it via customs.

EDIT: How legal that is is certainly up for interpretation, and was used as a strictly theoretical situation.

It was/is flawed but doesn't mean it isn't usable. Happily typing away on my 2016 butterfly keyboard right now.

Never said it was unusable. It's flawed. Some people are willing to live with the increased chances of malfunction over the scissor keys, but I wasn't about to give them my money for the "pleasure" of feeling like I'm walking on eggshells just typing on my keyboard with the likelihood that it would randomly act up.

They did it! They released a 16" MBP that is in NO WAY (besides the expected slight increase in weight) worse than the previous version and in most ways better!

I'm so used to Apple releasing something new and it being 2 steps forward 1 step back.

But NOT THIS TIME!

Now I just have to wait the appropriate amount of time to upgrade my less than 1 year old current MBP...sigh.

I'm a little curious about work flow for people who do photo/video work on the go. I have gopros, and drones just for fun, and I am needing some way to get the data from those sources to the MBP. Is there a reason why they don't include an SD card slot any more? I know that others who didn't have a need for the removable media used it to expand the storage on their device with an inexpensive SD card.

That ship sailed years ago. Time to give up on that.

It feels like Christmas. I'm writing this on a 13inch 2015 MacBook Pro I picked up used this summer for $650 bucks. I did so because I needed a keyboard I could trust. This new keyboard (I can't wait till Best Buy gets a display model to try out) sounds like exactly what it should be, a tweaked upgrade to the magic keyboard, apples best keyboard they've ever made. I won't get this one because my laptop still will do what I need it to do for another year or two, but if this means that 14 inch's with this keyboard are on the horizon, that's just fantastic. That's the computer I've been waiting for, and by the time I feel like I'm ready to upgrade, chances are they'll be on revision 2 by that point :)
I’m all in for a 14”

I can answer the question about the sd card. From the break down view, to put in that battery they have to keep the ports the way they are, and they did enough research that told them while an SD card would be nice, people have adapted with dongles. If you chose a sd card or a battery that lasted two hours longer? I'd choose battery every time. As for inexpensive storage, apple's starting with 512 Gig now, which is where it should be.

This machine looks great but pricey, esp with +$400 for 32gb of RAM.

I still do believe though that the 2020 model will be the model to buy to last forever since it will have all the new standards supported (wifi 6/802.11ax and av1 hardware decoding).

Would be cool if optane ever came down in price, but I don't expect that at this point.

The number of years it took Apple to get rid of the horrendous butterfly keyboard is an indication of how slow the post-Jobs Apple takes to listen to its users.

For me, I would do anything to keep my present MacBook Pro and couple of Airs going, solely to avoid that butterfly keyboard.

Now, this new 16" is probably going to be my next purchase.

When will Apple listen to those minority of people that seriously need an anti-glare screen? i.e. one with zero reflection with in a bright, sunlit environment.
