The image on this post is of type "Icon Set". It has the same image on different sizes.

macbook-pro.icns
mojave_macbook-pro_icon.icns
mojave_whats_new.icns
catalina_whats_new.icns
catalina_macbook-pro_icon.icns

All of the above have the MacBook Pro 15" 2016 ~ 2019 design.

com.apple.macbookpro-16-silver.icns have a design that resembles more last gen of MacBook Pros. So, it is probably a dummy, a placeholder image for the new design.

Remember with most people's eyes are not good enough for super high resolution of a 16in screen 3 to 4 feet is not that big of a deal. When you start connecting, 27in screens, 32 inch screen, 42 in screens and larger this is where you need the resolution. My desktop monitor is a LG 43 inch display so i need 4k or higher to make it look good when it is sitting 4 feet away from that monitor size. :)

"Slightly thinner bezels" ... well that's disappointing ... was hoping for true edge-to-edge or near bezeless design.

I skipped the 2019 8-core 15" because of rumors about this 16".They need to hurry up and release it because I've been hobbling along on a late 2013 and I need an upgrade and more ram.

I probably wouldn't go for the eight-core, but certainly 32 Gigs of RAM (preferably more). Also still on a late-2013. Also almost would have gone with the 2019, but… that keyboard…

Fingers crossed for: FaceID, Better Keyboard, 90hz or faster screen, new AMD Navi GPU, 10th gen intel CPU. A bonus would be expandable storage and memory but I highly doubt that.

My bad, I looked quickly in System Preferences and the "default" on my 15" is 1680x1050 for some reasons. I'm surprised the default isn't 1440x900
Yeah with the 2016 models they switched so the default resolution isn't the perfect @2x retina resolution any more, it will be interesting to see what the 16" defaults to, I find 1920x1200 just a little to small on the 15", but maybe it will be a bit more comfortable on the new larger display?

I don't think these are place holder images. If you go to the link in the article to the source website, there is a side-by-side comparison of the 2. You can clearly see there is a difference between models in their bezels.

Further, if you look at the keyboards... it looks like the 16 inch one doesn't have a Touch Bar. Look at the side by side image on the top row of keys where it is flat and smooth in the 15 inch, and the 16 inch looks like keys. Or at least, it looks like there is an escape key separate from the Touch Bar.View attachment 870559
For me it is very cool. I think bezels are needed for Notebooks or the risk is very high.... I will instant buy the 14” MacBook Pro

Apple isn’t going to host an event.

This is an iterative update. Tim Cook doesn’t need to spend 60 minutes on stage to explain it has a larger display.

With reports of the Mac losing market share, perhaps they should realize that they need to come out with something other than an iterative update sometime soon...

I realize you can’t magically make a new MacBook Pro appear out of thin air this month, but if all they’ve been working on is a small update, they need to either get their act together or at the very least reduce the prices on old technology.

That's a good option in my opinion. I just purchased a Razer Core X and a AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. I know the GPU is not supported yet, but it will certainly happen soon, possibly this month.

If for gaming, can I ask why you didn't go the Bootcamp/NVIDIA route? Was it only because of having to run bootcamp?

You are absolutely correct in the statement that smaller bezels do make a nicer display except for one critical factor.. if they are adding FaceID to the MacBook, it still needs a bit of bezel to have the components in there. Look at the iPad, for uniformity sake they kept all sides even in size even though the FaceID is located in one side only.

Yes, the innovations that have come to the iPhone's like face ID, A camera that would be 4k or 8k. A macbook pro with 5G wireless. A Macbook Pro with the Wideband wireless communications for tagged item finding. Bluetooth 5.1, WIFI 6. A model where you can get 64 gigabytes of ram. There is a whole pile of new technology that could be crammed into a new Macbook Pro. Maybe even bringing back some user upgrades like the new Mac Pro. :)

All I really care about is a reliable keyboard, preferably with more travel.

Since this is supposedly a more pro model, I’d also like the max sized battery allowed for air travel, which I think is 99.5 watt hours.

My 2015 MBP 15" is holding up very well so I'm not in a particular hurry. However, it would be nice to know that Apple has an upgrade waiting for me when the time comes. A 16" screen on a similarly-sized laptop would be a nice bonus. And of course to leap-frog the bad keyboard years.

The 2015 15" MBP was the best MBP ever produced by Apple in my not so humble opinion. I have one myself with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. It still smokes! LOL.

I don't understand the commenters that say it's the exact same as the 15"? The bezels are clearly thinner. This will be the 16" machine 100% for sure. I don't recall any icons in OS leaks being wrong yet...?
On that note, it seems like Apple could hugely reduce leaks if they forbid ANY iconography until the absolute last version of the OS builds. Seems like these icons have been the source of many a leak the last couple years especially.

Sincerely this is the best keyboard ever, I sell Macs too for work, and I’m working with a lot of PROs and the paranoia is especially online, 90% of users are super happy with it.
You have got to be kidding! I've used these things and know many many people who have used these things and the consensus is that keyboard is indeed a disaster - even when it works is a super noisy thing that irritates nearby people. I'm simply dumbfounded by your comment that it's the "best keyboard ever".

Of course its another product..not to different but still
it has physical ESC key
it has around 90-93W battery
it has new keyboard design
it has higher resolution with higher diagonal
it has, thanks to its larger body, better cooling system, at least i hope, since now it has room for 2 larger 2mm diagonal fans

I like this design better
