And they only come with the Touch Bar, no other options, plus it has a keyboard with only 1 mm travel.
Still no extension cord.
WOW!
Just wow!
How lame can you get?
Apple lame. That's a new level.

Waiting on reports on the new keyboard but looks nice to me.
I would still rather have a non touchbar model offered thou for more savings because I have no use for it.

I just ordered mine. I'm really happy about the specs and features, particularly scissor keyboard. I've been waiting 7 years for this.
Whoa, seriously? That sounds crazy enough I'm almost thinking it's a bug in the trade-in site.

Not that Apple isn't crazy, just that that result is so mind-bendingly insane it's even crazy for Apple.

I've been waiting to replace my mid 2010 MBP but was forced to buy a 2019 last FRIDAY when the 2010 finally died. This makes me sick that 5 days was the difference...I'm considering trading for the 16, but when I run the trade in wizard it doesn't recognize my serial number....And I haven't been able to get my free year of Apple TV+ yet either....

I may return this 2019 to Best Buy if the 16's arrive within my return window..

Fortunately, the one I have my eye on has a base of 1TB HDD, which should mean I can focus on getting more ram and video memory.

The butterfly keyboard has been driving me nuts since the first MacBook 12. I am likely to buy the new MBP and trade it in for a 13 whenever that is released. I don't need all this screen size or power. But I do need to love or at least like my keyboard. I am a writer.

But the world doesn't REVOLVE around you we have to move to the future at some point.
Should we still be using PS2 keyboards because "some others still want to"

No , you are wrong - believe or not - some of us use USB-A ports, some of us use Magic Safe, some of use SD cards, some of us don't see the point of touch bar etc ( and please don;t say me to buy a dongles ) ....At least ( I hope ) they fixed the worst keyboard in the history....

Surely you could just return it and get your full money back and buy the new 16"?

Hey so I was wondering about the physical size compared to the last one so looked it up - for anyone else wondering:

MBP 16":
Height 1.62 cm (0.64 inches)
...
MBP 15":
Height: 1.55 cm (0.61 inches)
Here is one of the more subtle signs of Apple heading in the right direction - for so many years they'd been breathlessly telling us, at Mac announcements, "and it's X mm thinner". Nobody outside of Apple was asking for thinner, they were asking for increased battery life and thermal capacity (and the return of user replaceable bits and a few more ports, oh well). Now, Apple has released a new machine with the theme "we heard what what you've been saying" (new keyboard, Esc key, etc.), and it isn't thinner - it's 0.7mm thicker. And Apple is citing increased battery life and better cooling capacity in their descriptions. This is a good step.

(edit: stupid missing decimal point)

Value does not means cheap.
Cheapskate Apple still does not want to pay for state art wi-fi 802.11ax 2017 standard and LPDDR4 RAM!(2013) Did not update the 13” MacBook Pro to 14” with slimmer bezel. LOL

All sorted; delivery in a couple of weeks. Will be a nice replacement for my unibody 15" (previous model) and my 17" which is beginning to creak at the seams. Massively looking forwards to 64Gb of RAM to keep the VMs happy and 4Tb of SSD so I can keep a lot of my prog rock collection with me.

It's a pity there's only 3 USB C ports; plus one reserved for charging. So have to now get some dongles in.

The great news is that I've skipped that dreadful previous keyboard design which wasn't built for programmers. Nice to see the inverted T back along with the escape key. Will still miss the proper function keys for the silly touch slider pad, but hey, most of the time I'll be using a monitor and keyboard anyway.

A lot pissed off that the charger doesn't include a cable or extension cable -- although I've already got a load of them from previous Macs. Also moderately surprised that the prices are in line with the previous model.

Oh, and those commenting that $5k/£4k6 is a lot of dosh... How much does a plumber's van cost with all his/her tools? Probably more than this MBP which I earn my living from.

Absolutely incredible. IDK what happened but Apple suddenly remembered that it is here to innovate.

I LOVE every single new feature on this computer - battery, finally!!, sound, finally!, display, obviously, speed, SSDs for a fair price, a great keyboard, etc.

Getting this, no question.

I have not been this excited about a new MBP since the original retina MacBook Pro from 2012 which I am writing this post on. Everything since has been "meh" - nonsense like the touchpad which is very expensive and entirely uneccessary (and that's before it breaks...), unfixable and unreliable keyboards, and so on.

As for Apple no longer cares about computers - this thing has an unbelievable amount of hardware innovations. Like somebody went through a back catalog of everything that was wrong with the 2016 gen MBP and created an ingenious solution for each one.

I want a gold version. But OK. Will have to settle for silver. Dark was cool when it came out but it's pretty boring at this point.

And this just as I decided to finally get my battery replaced - for a 7 year old MBP. Getting new top case and battery at cost. They're also replacing my speakers for $20 while they're at it. Amazing service on a 7 year old computer & that's another reason I will remain with Apple for probably at least another 7 years.

Lets compare the cost of each..... Let's also consider how long people tend to keep each type of device.
Use case is more important than cost. Ever wonder why all new iPhone 11’s have WiFi 6 but the MBP doesn’t? Or why the MBP doesn’t have LTE (for those concerned with mobile connections)?

As to people complaining about WiFi 6, most of them have “Newbie” by their username. Take from that what you will.

Man, I feel for you. Just placed my order. This is replacing my mid-2010 17" (with SSD because I COULD!). That thing has been a warrior but it's time...

Looks like very solid upgrade to the last one. Well done Apple. Price is pro but so is the computer.

Sorry, but I just have to chuckle at all the folks who a month or two ago bought the 2019 15-incher, with the flawed keyboard, way worse thermal management ... absolutely convinced this one wouldn't come out anytime soon, or be way too expensive.

Now you're kinda stuck with one of the laptops that is part of what will arguably be remembered as one of the worst series of laptop designs Apple ever made.

Wow! How childish.

Also, as recently as a week ago, there were rumors that the new 16in MBP wouldn't be out until 2020. So, prospective buyers got a fair amount of whiplash on this announcement.

Some people just don't have the luxury of making all of their buying decisions based on the last posted tech rumor. They need to get on with their lives and get stuff done. Did it occur to you that some folks had to upgrade or replace their computers to meet pressing commitments or deadlines? My son was working on a special research project for a professor from his former University, and his existing computer simply could not handle the statistical analysis and large scale data manipulation that he needed to perform within his time constraints. So, this summer, he got the recently released 15 inch MBP. He is very happy with it. Absolutely no problems.

I just checked, my return window is until Jan 14th...Surely I can...I already tossed the packaging though...

Honestly Im at a dilemma with it...I got the 8-core I9 on sale for $2399...So I would be slightly downgrading to the 6-core I7...Realistically the spec differences aren't enough to worry about...Im just concerned about eventually running into the widely reported keyboard and thermal problems...Supposedly the 19's don't have the problems but who knows...

The base 16" is also $100 less than I paid for the 2019....

I was milking the 2010 for every last breath...It just crapped out at a bad time...
